I hope the ML has improved in doing love scenes. He was pretty cringey in “Business Proposal.” Yeah, I said it. Don’t come for me!!! Lol 😂 😆 😝 His love scene was unwatchable in that drama. Everything else was delightful.
I actually preferred his love scenes with Park Bo Young in “Abyss.” That’s not a popular drama, but their chemistry was fire and hilarious at the same time. That’s how I started liking him in the first place.
His mother abandoned him. Of course he would have hard feelings. He loved her and missed her desperately, but…
Thanks for clarifying. Good point. The Director doesn’t spend enough time on the mother-son reunion given how deeply her leaving impacted Gu Won. This drama is very lacking on substance, exploration of deep emotional trauma, character growth, reasons for and believable resolution of serious psychological problems, and logical, believable redemption arcs. For instance, we never got a proper explanation for Gu Won’s sister’s deep psychological issues. The writing was weak. Even though it’s a fluffy romcom, it could have delved into the serious issues properly without getting too dark and heavy.

He looked for her because that’s his mother. It’s not hard to understand that a child would look for his mother. Gu Won is a highly reserved and unemotional guy. He showed the level of emotion commiserate with his personality during this painful but long-awaited meeting. No doubt, he would warm up over time as they got reacquainted. He didn’t kick his mother out of his life after this meeting. He came back and hugged her. She was even at the wedding.
There are some more things that didn't make sense to me.Gu Won was desperate to find out about his mother and…
His mother abandoned him. Of course he would have hard feelings. He loved her and missed her desperately, but he was also angry with her. He understood why she left, was kicked out actually, but the hurt feelings are still there. She seems like a nice lady, but it’s mind-boggling to me she didn’t try to contact him once in the last 20 years. That’d be hard for anyone to process.
ML is a really good kisser. I liked “When I Fly Towards You” story development and side characters better, but “Exclusive Fairytale” definitely had the better kisses. MLs were quite similar in both dramas, but I was drawn to the “When I Fly Towards You” ML character more. I love underdog tales/remarkable-transformation tales like that one. “Exclusive Fairytale” ML was too perfect. But, man, those kisses—Wowww.
Yea, as expected, mother leaving reason was dumb af.
It’s unrealistic that a loving mother (which it seems this woman was) wouldn’t have tried to visit or check on her son in the last 20 years, especially after the father-in-law died. The mother/child bond is strong.
“Out of the mouths of babes.”. Even a child can see the truth! Powerful moment with young Xuan. Even a child can put two and two together and see that this bad man did something wrong.

Agreed—The father was the real problem here.
