The story development is frustrating. That’s why. The romance is unsatisfying. It comes together in the end though, after they exasperated the living daylights out of you the viewer for the first 20 episodes. Don’t expect any spice either. This is thoroughly PG. The family and friends slice-of-life moments are pleasant, just too drawn out. The drama dragged a lot in my opinion. Many good life lessons were taken from drama however—life lessons about how to love well and live well, how to parent, kids realizing they don’t know as much as they think and that maybe mom and dad were right. It was a good drama, but it could have been done better. The acting was top-notch 💯. No issues with the acting, just the story development. So, I guess it was a directing and editing issue.
It was alright. If I had never seen the Korean version, I might have thought this J-drama was good, fresh, original. But having seen the K-version, I enjoyed the Korean one far more. The Korean version was funnier, more robust and detailed, more swoonworthy. The J-version romance was bland, sweet but bland.
The Youku app really did us dirty in the US. Why couldn’t they have released this drama for us too on the app?! Now, I’ve got to wait on slow-as-molasses Viki. 😑
I understood what the post meant. Women can’t catch a break either way. But, the post was accurate nonetheless. Her character was/is problematic in both dramas. 😂
Episode 17 is so good!!!!!!!!! I cried the whole time. If my friends, none of whom watch these dramas, knew that…
I’ve been up at 1:00am watching this drama too. I can’t wait til a normal time. Have to watch as soon as it drops. Even though I’m not entirely satisfied with the show, it’s the only good new drama out now. Kinda a drama slump right now. Good to know that ep 17 will be good. I won’t be able concentrate all day in expectation though.
This drama is a bit unsatisfying. I keep getting many scenes of characters that I’m not interested in and not enough of the one that I am interested in. It’s interesting how the scene with the college dorm mates was not engaging to me wheares the dorm mates’ interactions in “Hidden Love” were delightful and added so much to the story. I kept wanting the dorm mates scenes here in Our Generation to hurry up and end.
Overall, the drama is pleasant, but not a slam dunk 10/10.
Compelling episode though. Zhao Jin Mai’s acting was on point when she laid into Qiao Xi. It stopped me in my tracks.
Overall, the drama is pleasant, but not a slam dunk 10/10.
