True. Any time a BL is better than the usual mediocre, it's get extremely high ratings. On one hand, it's good…
Correct.

That being said, i really do trust your ratings because we tend to have the same ratings for the BLs . :)

2021 Bls where not quite up to 2020. To My Stay and We Best Love were the only ines i can remember that were good. Light on Me was ok as well. ATOTS was ok at the start but went off the rails in the latter part. This makes me conclude why BBS is rated high; it was like a tweak and improvment of the ATOTS formula.

Oh kate! The queen of drama reviews and reason :) its such a pleasure reading all your reviews. I actually look if you rated the BLs before i decide to start on one. You say it as it is. I personally would rate it (a little bit) higher than your score.

One thing i seemed to notice is one reason that BBS may have these very high ratings may be due to the fact that there hasnt been any BL of late that came close to the 2020 trio of Gaya sa Pelikula (my all time favorite BL), Cherry Magic (my second best BL) and I told Sunset About You (not much of a fan).

And you are very correct. Thai BLs tend to lean on (mass) production value and unnecessary fillers that muddle up the story. Actually, if edited (eg remove fighting scenes etc) it may actually contribute more to the overall coherence of the whole series. More is better seems to be the mantra in production. Haha. They go full on to the production to the point that they leave supporting cast arcs thin and rush to tie all the loose ends in the last episode.

The series was basically carried by Ohm and Nanon. There is an improvement on the scriptwriting (vs old gmmtv bls) but still miles away from quality screenplay (GSP). And you are correct to say that the OST is very good. And yes, albeit the trash around the beautiful scenery, i think it is the best BL of gmmtv so far.

For all my convoluted and creative imaginations where this will be going to… it was, in the end, simple and sweet :)

Maybe we tend to overcomplicate love. At the end it is just simple: Love is love. :)

They had an English interview on IwantTFC last December. They had an interpreter but tried to do everything in English. Very admirable of them . :)

I don't mind if PatPran breaks up or not. Also, I told myself to not take the EP12 preview too seriously. You…
same... which brings my concern of me being afraid that everything will be rushed again in the final episode. I hope they pace things well so that its would blend with the entire storyline of the series seamlessly and not feel too abrupt.

I just hope that with all they have to pack into the finale they don't skip out on the much needed talks between…
same here. Thai BLs of the past have tendency to rush everything to tie loose ends at the last episode... I hope they find a way to organically mend the final episode into the series as a whole.. This is because BBS character development, storyline and pacing have been excellent up to ep 11

This was yet another beautiful episode. It was more idyllic even than the idyllic episode 6 and ends even more…
My thoughts exactly. I just am concerned that with only one episode left, things will be rushed. The character, plot and storyline development and pacing have been excellent up to this point. With the impending time lapse that will happen as seen in the preview, I hope it doesnt affect the great pacing of the series as a whole. Thai BLs have a tendency to do this; great buildup then have a rushed ending to tie all the loose ends in the last episode.

Sorry cant help but say that This episode 11 is giving me this Gaya sa Pelikula epsiode 8 vibes… the ‘what if’ parallels, the song vlad and now pran played. The mature but necessary direction of characters…

GSP had an open ending… Lets see what the BBS production team will give us as an ending… exciting :)

Tropes broken in EP 11 (part of them):1. The top/dominant guy has to be the more masculine, more muscular one…
Agree again!… gmm
Is finally veering away from these endings whipped up in fantasyland. In the long run, this promotes healthier discourse for viewers.

Im not saying endings dont need to be happy. Rather, happy endings must be founded on reality :)

Just a thought…. Its already granted that this is a great BL.

Of course i would like a happy ending. But if they do intend to make a season 2 and ‘milk the cow’ out of this successful series, i would prefer an open ending. :)

A true happy ending, the happiest of all endings is not just happiness for Pat and Pran, but happiness, acceptance,…
Exactly! For what is worth, Ep 11 shows, that this is REALITY and we should face whatever struggle the world gives us with resolute maturity, respect and courage.

To all who have access in the GMM offficial Philippine distributor IWantTFC, they already aired it complete. :) with eng subtitles. I finished viewing it already with english subs and no breaks

I will wait for y’all to finish before I comment…. :)

In summary, my personal opinion so far is that it has the Gaya Sa Pelikula (Like in The Movies) feels of the realization of reality… Great job! The story has now reached its full circle.

There is one last episode. Where will this take this series to? Happy, sad or open? :)

I just finished watching the episode and I feel a little sick to my stomach. THIS, folks, is why there are so…
I somewhat agree with you. I believe that shows like these, especially targeted to a younger set of audiences, have to balance the need to entertain and the social responsibility to promote a better society especially in the lgbtq community. If the production did go through this route, i would have expected a more nuanced script and character development to build toward this.

Make no mistake, i still like watching the show. These things really do happen. And thats why its called drama to begin with. But again, as part of an older generation in the lgbtq community, it makes me second guess if the production team did this arc for the sake to sensationalize stuff and gain media attention. This without considering the polarizing feelings and toxicity off screen that younger audiences will resort to as a result.

Whoa!? So many comments since I left just right after EP3.

I think the production team was pretty successful to conjure such strong emotions from all the hardcore watchers. Like all things that stir strong feelings, you will really have to prepare for people to either really hate it or really love it with passion. It looks like this is the route they went to steer the series going forward.

That being said, the direction (especially the the character arc of Teh so far) is really not to my liking. However, it also made me interested to find out how the said arc will move forward vis a vis the other characters development.

In short, it is still too early to give judgement to something that is just 60% complete. I'm sure the production team was aware of this and calculated the risks of making it go through this route. So on to the next episode on thursday... :)

Not all watchers may like this, and relatability plays a big part in how viewers perceive this show. I watched…
Ill reserve and maybe edit this comment after i watch the whole series.

I am a gay guy in my 40s. I liked ITSAY in its technical aspects (cinematography, music, editing, and to a certain extent the screenplay) but wasn’t too much a fan of some of the story line treatments because of the things you mentioned above. I find the second season more mature in content and how it is being treated ... so far...(more verbalization of sentiments and less over the top crying especially by Teh after 2 ep haha)

But again, like what you said, everybody has their own preferences and experiences. Me not liking too much one aspect of a series doesnt make me hate everything all together. It is overall still one of the best (if not the best) Thai BL series there is.
