have you never seen a 30 year old? She looks exactly like a 30 year old is supposed to. You guys just dont know…
I don't disagree with your statement that there can be people that looks much older, but I think that being realistic and being the type of drama we are talking about, it was not the intentions of the writers to show us that kind of drama; in any moment is mentioned or made references of that kind of deep background. The drama is pretty much, your stereotypical Korean-drama romance with the poor orphans that survive and your duality rich guy-humble woman drama, and they clearly wanted the couple to have a lot of chemistry and be cute together, and they had 0 chemistry and they were not cute at all.
I do not mind romances in which there is a reasonable even if it's an odd age gap, I am just bothered because it is clearly a misjudge from the cast directors, the writers or both.
On the other hand, this is Korea, you will not see huge successful hagwon teacher dating an older woman that also doesn't even look young at all.
I don’t know why are people fighting you on this. In real life the actress is 50 and the actor is 39. She does…
Yes I don’t know why people is so pressed about it, I think age gaps both ways are equally cringy. The only thing that saves this drama is that she can act, but I could not believe the situation at all. Also I don’t know why they dressed her like a completely ahjumma, I think it was quite classist.

There is a lot of critics regarding the female lead age gap, I think it is quite generalized opinion, even among Koreans, many coments were like "I cannot focus on the romance because she looks so old". She does, I have not met a single 30 yeard old Korean woman that looks as old as her. It is TOTALLY OKAY to have love stories with older people, but then the script should be made following their age and not pretending that she is an age that she clearly isn't and make the character behave oddly-immature to make her look younger "somehow". If they wanted to portray a love story of two people in their 40s and 50s then the story should have been written differently.

No, she does not look at all like a 30 years old, she looks like a 50 years old. I live in Korea and I am in that range of age and no one looks like her. Lol.
I did like Jeon Do Yeon acting, but the very noticeable age gap, when she is supposedly in her 30s kept bothering me, they had 0 chemistry and made the romance totally unbelievable. On the other hand, the last episodes were really dragged out and a lot of points got resolved without proper explanation.
contrary to the people what the defending her bad acting are saying I agree with you. She really has a plain way…
You are right, my opinion is irrelevant but I asked because I know some people has same taste as me, and people who has watched enough movies and dramas can tell that even a mediocre actor (in my opinion) can do better with a proper director, so I was hoping it was the case because the plot looks interesting. On the other hand, at least here in Korea, Park Shin Hye is famous mostly because some older dramas she did and because she is pretty. Plus, as I mentioned, in Korea drama actors don't really have a "very good actor" reputation, they cannot compete with movie actors, that are believed to be trully "first category actors"; only in recent years the level of drama actors is getting better, but not that much, actually Koreans always mention something along the lines of "ah that is such a drama tone". And actually when you get to an intermediate level of Korean sometimes actors you believed they were good, you realize how fake they sound compare to Korean real tone and way of speaking. I think actually, one of the reasons why Park Shin Hye is doing majority of her projects with Netflix it is because international viewers cannot distinguish that well if the tone is realistic or not, so her popularity is bigger. But hey, it is just an opinion.
"the same mediocre acting that she always does" uhm okay so if you never liked her acting in any of her past works…
Because if the director is good enough, her bad acting can be, up to some point, fixed, and the plot looks entertainig enough. That's why I was asking. The last movie I watched from her was "Alive" and everytime she opened her mouth my boyfriend and I laughed because she cannot even state the word "빨리" in a natural way, so I have severe doubts about her acting abilities. Usually drama actors in Korea are considered much worse actors than movie actors, and in this case, it is true.
I am doubting wether to watch this or not because of the lack of talent for acting of the female lead. Is it bearable or is she pulling the same mediocre acting that she always does?
I'm at episode 10, I just read a huge spoiler about the end of the Drama and I absolutely can't feel any connection with Eugene's character (I just can't with his acting, he is too stiff and the age gap is too much for me) and the female lead which also says anything to me. I feel sorrowful because I do love Yoo Yeon Seok and Byun Yo Han but althought it has very impressing photography the drama is a bit meh to me, I think after this I'll drop it.
