This was such an interesting drama. I have never before been so interested in heavy machinery manufacturing. I loved our 2 main leads: he's a socially awkward researcher and she is a welder. The entire cast is fantastic and I found the backdrop of a state-owned company fascinating (for a westerner).
Any recommendation similar to this FL character 'Xu Jie' and the same Vibe of this drama...
I really liked the FL of an older cdrama called We Fall In Love. Smart, competent and doesn't take any prisoners. Some of the other characters in that drama are annoying though...
OMG, the ending of ep4 really annoyed me! Like mister France get lost! You have a wife and a son. What you had…
I liked ep3 because it wasn't about the guy, the male characters were largely unimportant, but about the JH/EP relationship. I hope it stays like that and that ep4 was just teasing us. Please no cheating! But like EP, I also want to know why he left her.
Small-town school experienced teacher Jian Dan has been in a long-distance relationship with her fiancee in Bejing for 8 years and has now given up her job to be with him and get married. Only to find that he's been cheating on her with a rich girl. Because she's resigned from her job, she's got no choice but to work as a tutor for the handicapped daughter of a book publisher (who I like a lot because he wants his bookshops to sell books and not mainly coffee and stationary)
It's not the most original story in the world but the use of mature, experienced actors (and not the usual Pretty Faces) lifts this above the rest. The writing (so far) makes me understand everybody's decisions- yes, even the cheating fiancee's. After all, getting married to the rich girl will be a shortcut to success.... The colours and the way it's shot really suits the choices these people have to make.
I totally agree. I think her actions make perfect sense.
Not sure it was just swallowing her pride. She had also been forced by her father's death and the accident to accept the 5mln from NYS's father *not* to get in touch with him. She might have been scared or felt compelled to stick to that agreement. She could have petrified that if she got in touch with NYS, Evil Granddad could have demanded his cash back (we now know he'd probably just taken the child from her)
NYS is so funny cos on the one hand he claims he won't fight her for custody, but then his father says he will…
My suspicion is that Fang Ting is the older half-brother of NYS by the mistress. That's why he knows the old man is going to be tenaciously trying to get rights to the child (because that's probably what happened to him) & why he's the kid of a single mother too. (But I have no idea why they all ended up studying together in Belgium of all places lol)
Producers cooking some weird stuff. Actors real age difference is 7 years, but characters suppose have 29 years…
That completely confused me! I thought the age difference between them was much smaller (based on the actors' real ages) and was shocked when she said a 29 year gap.
I thought that ShiYi was supposed to be in her early thirties (a few years older than Hou Jue), Qian def older than ShiYi maybe mid thirties or so. Then Hou Jue's father could be in his early fifties - making it around a 15 year age gap Now I know I was completely wrong lol. I was out by 14 years. I have no idea how old anybody is supposed to be! Apart from Hou Jue
I'm worried about this father dating friend thing. Am I the only one who thinks this?
If they're going to have that double wedding that Hou Jue was joking about, I'm not going to be happy.
But I did get the idea that Qian xiao qian is older than Shiyi? She's probably closer in age to Hou Jue's father than to his friend. But yeah, I'm not a fan either and the opening and closing credits do seem to indicate that this is where it's going
Game-show producer leaves husband at altar to run off with show contestant.
Even though that wasn't quite what happened, she'd never live the scandal down!
*or more likely, Evil Producer (who I like a lot) would milk it for all it's worth
I would recommend this to anybody who enjoys workplace dramas such as (for example) The Ideal City. I watched it here on Kukan's youtube channel with good English subs.

On the other hand, I'm loving Gina Jin's wardrobe
Cheng Cheng, playing Xiao Qian, is 40. Wang Ce, playing Hou Zhi Rong, is 47. They are seven years apart in real life but 29 according to the drama
