I've been putting off watching this so that I could binge it after hearing some very good things. Everyone looks soooo good, but when Yan An came on the screen, I had to pause it so that I could roll around on the floor for a while screaming and crying with lust. OMFG what a masterpiece.
This drama has now fallen into the trap of taking itself too seriously and using all the tropes it started off making fun of. I am no longer having a good time.
Chriiiiiiist this was a slog to get through. Had the ingredients (pardon the pun) to be great, but the tension would build, hit, and then disappear for far too long before starting to build again. The loooong scenes of people being sad/pensive/crying while music plays seemed to happen every 5 minutes, and if they'd cut half of them, the drama would have been 10 episodes long. When the emotional peak occurs in the final episode, exhaustion has set in and it doesn't hit nearly as hard as it should. I only finished this because I'm too stubborn for my own good. Overall rating: Waste of Time. Don't watch this because you liked Beyond Evil, they are nowhere in the same league of storytelling.
Now you got me thinking about times in my life when I've stepped on a Lego, and wondering if that was some karmic shit coming back to bite me on the arse 😂
Viki is much faster now than they used to be. I remember when episodes would release, and you'd keep going back and checking, watching the percentage climb, and sometimes it would take two days to get to 90%, at which point you'd say fuck it and watch the episode anyway, and just hope that there wasn't any important dialogue in the missing 10% 😂
This drama is glorious. Xianxia often pisses me off, and watching this I feel like they're soothingly stroking my hair and whispering "we understand" 🤣
