Yes, they are probably lazy with the writing, but definitely not with the filming. I think it's the best time for kdramas right now. I read that the major networks in Korea agreed to shorten the drama times because of decrease in advertising money and the huge increase in production cost. So soon the quality will go down.
So, I've been trying to watch Iljimae, which was shot 6 years ago and you can clearly see how much better filming is right now by just comparing that to Gu Family Book.

Hi there. Good to hear from you. Yes, it's been a year, I still like it. How about you? You have something on your profile saying you're not watching dramas anymore.
Master's Sun is very overrated. I mean I really like So Ji Sub, but the plot was just not great. It was like the writers were making a bad version of Secret Garden. And the main female was not that great either, she was laughing all the time while she should be portraying someone who was terrified.
Are you watching anything?
I seriously don't understand how is this the best kdrama ever like many here say. There was nothing original. In fact, it seems that the authors couldn't get over the fame of Secret Garden and had to copy the details (like Little Mermaid = Candy?). Also, the acting of Gong Hyo Jin was not great. You can see that they had good time on the set laughing and all, but she brought it to the screen. So her whole expression is detached and giggling inside while she was supposed to be terrified. In some scenes it was way too much. Some characters were undeveloped or unnecessary and the addition of 1 more episode was completely pointless.
The first half of the drama is just plain stupidity. Sometimes it's really hard to watch. But the second half is very good. So I guess overall if you manage to get through the beginning, it's worth watching.
Recommend to watch if you want to see a lot of SJS. The filming is very good as well However, though the lead actress is good on her own, she does not much SJS. They didn't look like a couple at all. And the ending... Criminals should be in prison, so what's up with forgiving?

I've been slowly watching Missing you. Actually, the more it goes the better it becomes. This is my 2nd melodrama recently (That winter the wind blows being the other). I don't usually like melodramas because they are over dramatic with too much crying. But I guess I got immuned to the crying so the rest is pretty entertaining. Are you on any Asian drama?

The plot is very complicated and picking up in the later part might be too confusing. The show has so many characters, some of them dead but still mentioned a lot.

Ha! Sometimes it's good to switch back to Western style movies. I've been watching Game of Thrones season 2 with friends. It was great. Can't wait for season 3 to be finish so that we can watch it side by side. Have you seen?
On Asian front, I decided to watch Missing you because half of the children cast from Moon/Sun was also in that one. So I very much enjoyed first 5 episodes with the children cast. Now I'm on 8 and having problem proceeding forward. I just don't like the main guy anymore.

I finished the Moon/Sun drama. It was very good, especially in the middle. I still think the kids were better than the adults. I haven't watched too many historical dramas, but this one I could watch without being annoyed at the politics and general treatment of people. Probably the shaman magic sometimes could help overcome the dead ends of the historical convention. Not sure what to watch next. Another attempt at Iljimae or The Chaser? What are you watching?

Yes, they are young in this drama, but I think that's the whole point. They were manipulated easily. Also, the childhood part actors were so good at their acting that it gives even better effect. However, there are dramas that I couldn't wait for the childhood part to finish, like King of Baking or Autumn Tale.

It's true some child actors can be good, but usually there are the main actors that I want to watch and it feels like the childhood story takes too much time. This time though I wasn't looking forward to seeing any particular actor, so the childhood story didn't feel like a waste. Now I'm at the part with the adults, but I don't like them as much. In addition, the feel that the children give is too different from the adults even though the "children" are 13-15 yo.

So far so good. This is probably the first drama with child actors sticking for more than 1 episode and I really enjoy that. I usually want the whole childhood part to be as fast as possible, but in this one, I actually wish they keep the same story/actors for the rest of the show.

Thanks for bringing this up. It sounds like my kind of drama. I got into the moon that embraces the sun for now, but will definitely give the chaser a try after.

Once during a long flight I watched OldBoy, The Chaser and Midnight FM. They were all kind of in the same category. I want to watch something light, but all I have is some historical dramas. So I started The Moon that Embraces the Sun and Iljimae. Will probably stick with the Moon/Sun one. But it'll probably take me some time to watch since I really want to see something about modern days.

Sounds like I need to watch Memories of Murder. I didn't know The Chaser was based on the true event. This is a really crazy event. What drama are you watching now?

I see you changed your name ;)
I saw Flower boy ramyan shop and it was not very good. So you might be right on the other flower boys. BTW, I saw you watched Oldboy and The Chaser. When I watched these 2 I also watched another one in the same kind of theme: Midnight FM. You might want to check it out if you liked the other 2.
