Due to raving reviews I read in forums, I ended up watching the Japanese version first, then the Korean version.…
in the first episode she mentioned COVID 19 in the business meeting, that's how he knows early on. It's a very obvious giveaway she slipped when she first realized she had traveled back.
Idk if I read the same novel as some of these reviewers. I thought it was a very good adaptation. HY was reborn into a small little 16yo girl so naturally she wouldn't be all buffed up like the boys. In her past life she was under a mask, skilled with sword and strategic in battle. She's very witty, almost talkative, gossiping with Chu about news in the capital. She "pretends" a lot as a way to naturally observe things around her without raising suspicion. Her personality as a general and a soldier were both described as being harmonious and treat everyone nicely (unlike the cold face Xiao Jue). She also struggled with showing her true self and emotions because she has lived as someone else for so long. I thought CY was a very good casting choice, while I like ZL as XJ I thought he was much warmer in the show than in the book.
The scene where she cried during a battle was also in the novel, they may have exaggerated it a bit with her throwing the sword but she definitely cried from feeling lost. Many sweet scenes were retained like when she cried for her shifu. The drunk scenes calling XJ dad, the fainting under shallow water due to trauma from being drowned in the past life. It's all there.
I don't feel that she encouraged him. She sees all of the men as her "brothers", she even risked her life to save Wang Ba. It was subtle but there was a scene Chu touched her hand and shd pushed it away. She even said she doesn't need anyone to blaze a road for her...
Can someone explain how is it drama can depict a general as doing nothing but reading a little and spends almost…
Lol i know what you mean but do we need his time table to feel realistic. Like they don't show people go shower sleep and other stuff like eating lunch etc...the story is just snap shot of moments in their lives. Like only 20 episode and it's 6-8 month of "real time".
Yes I was also hoping to see the scene where in the novel He Yan and He Rufei fought to claim her sword back..🤧
There's an epic sword fight between HY and HRF right before XJ helps her expose the truth. I hope for this details it stays true to the novel. (And the marriage decree detail as well)
I agree. I feel that lots of negative comments coming from not liking the actress herself. I thought her character…
Just because someone values career over loves doesn't mean that person is creepy or without morality. No body asked ML to stay loyal to FL over the years, she didn't asked that of him. From what I saw, she also didn't have any other relationship. He's still free to move on, she doesn't do anything to stop him from that either. If they're to be together then it takes time on both sides to adjust and re-accept. Just because he's faster to realize who he wants to be with doesn't mean she must be on the same pace. Honestly I don't see her doing anything disrespectful, even during the breakup. She was very straight to the point. She's a bit cold in character, but she doesn't seem to be bad person or immoral like you imply. Perhaps we're watching two different shows, I don't want to further this discussion.

Each show is a different situation, there isn't any generalization of the ML/FL role in my comment, just this particular show and the leads situation. IMO with years apart like that, they're free to move on or stay loyal on both sides. What matters is how they get back together if they want to get back together, some takes longer to accept love from another, nothing wrong with that either. Just like FL is not responsible to love 2ML back, she's not responsible for ML's love to her either.

I only commented on the aspect of career vs. love in this show. From my recollection of Have a crush on you, I thought they broke up because he was cold to her during the marriage? I don't think I finished watching the other show to comment on the leads dynamic on a different show here. Anyway, 3 4 years is a long time for someone to be ready to move on after breaking up, no matter what reason... I don't see the issue here.
I see many people bashing the FL ... I think it's understandable because the main conflict of the story is the…
I agree. I feel that lots of negative comments coming from not liking the actress herself. I thought her character development progressed very naturally. Her choice of career over love, while some may not agree, it's not unreasonable. At that point in their life, it's hard to find a compromise between career and love, but 8 yrs later with botj of them having a stability in their career it maybe easier to find a compromise. It's not like she didn't do anything for him, putting her reputation on the line to help him secure an investment during crisis. And it would feel very fake if she's now throwing herself at him when he came back successful.
indeed, she just is overally passive and weak. Her character in her youth was so much better. I find it hard to…
I think what she went through changed her a bit. Went to America, father died in prison, living on her own, etc... sometimes it's hard to recover the innocence in her youth.
