Am I the only one who just can’t warm up to CJW (the FL)? 🧐 Hear me out….I don’t dislike her for no reason,…
To play devil's advocate - the summary suggests that Jeongwon faced traumatic events due to being related to Kibeom (who is thought to be a murderer) unfortunately, this was only shown briefly in the drama. We also don't know what kind of hardships Jeongwon faced during that time period when she was abandoned to Mihyang and Kibeom got out of jail. This fault falls on the screenwriter, they could've highlighted this aspect more instead of giving us recycled scenes from old episodes
My personal opinion?
I think part of Jeongwon's "positive" relationship with Kibeom was social conditioning. Filal piety is a big deal in East Asian cultures, so she might've played the role of a good daughter because she didn't see a way out. But with this scheme she's currently involved in, she saw a way out and is acting on it
Although... If you want to go into the whole "nuture vs nature" debate, it could be argued that Jeongwon could've "inherited" her greed from Hyera... 🤔
First episode thoughts. Insurance fraud? I'm tuned in.I know Hanee is a high school student when the series first…
omg she set this man up... framed for a 4 BILLION won theft but left under the guise of "separating (only on paper) while you pay off your debts so our kids won't get harassed"
LMFAOOOOO . Yeah I'm definitely going to enjoy this coming together. I also like how Hanee meets her step father. Strong first episode....

I know Hanee is a high school student when the series first starts but damn, she's pretty obnoxious 😭
Now the way Hanee dad died was absolutely foul. I was actually shook when they showed the helicopter losing control. Looking at the airdate of this drama (May 2015), I wouldn't be surprised if that was included in response to the Sewol ferry tragedy. A lot of dramas that aired afterwards featured corrupt leadership ordering people to do things that would get them killed in the name of $$$. Angry Mom (highly recommend btw) is a good example of this.
So yeah I don't like Hanee. Thankfully, the second half of the episode features our FL, Chun Mija, played by Oh Hyunkyung. (Literally watching this in preparation for The First Man, where she is also playing a villain)
Mija ... LOVE HER ENERGY... I absolutely love how she clocked the peony association. I also see that Hanee's step dad was originally Mija's husband (and her daughter becomes Hanees step sister?) I'm interested to see how this all plays out
I have a love-hate relationship with seo hyunjoo dramas (I've never finished one while they were airing and I…
It's been a minute since I've watched wife returns but you're right. Yookyung reminds me more of Dohee from the promise. I guess by "reckless" Seorin will be similar to the original Serin from Woman in a Veil... well I'm hoping so lol
I added it to my plan to watch list! The fact there's a villain FL AND it's a tvn daily drama? Sign me up!!!
Hopefully this is much better than The Woman Who Swallowed The Sun (this disappointed me so bad, I'm still not…
I have a love-hate relationship with seo hyunjoo dramas (I've never finished one while they were airing and I find them less frustrating when you're binge watching. I remember calling The Third Marriage The Third Disruption 💀) but I'm going to attempt to finish this one because the cast (and I love myself a good twin switch lol)
this is premiering on my birthday (December 15th) which is already a GREAT sign :). anyway open up the spoiler…
Lee Hyojung will be playing the "charismatic, demonic" chairman of Dream Group, Ma Daechang. Dream Group's motto is "I am the law", so Chairman Ma is described as having a commanding presence. He is Seorin's grandfather.
Jung Soyoung will play the bio mother of Jangmi and Seorin, Jeong Sookhee. She was once "pure and intelligent" but a questionable incident (👀) left her with the intelligence of a five year old. Whether she lives with Jangmi or Seorin is unknown but if I had to guess it's Jangmi. (I would absolutely not be surprised if it turns out that Seorin is reckless because she doesn't know her mother lol)
Jung Chan (my guy!!) will play Kang Nambong, Baekho and Junho's father, who is described as warm, and finally,
Lee Jaehwang will play the role of Lee Kanghyuk, who is Hwayoung's (Oh Hyunkyung; one of the villains) confidant
I also find it hilarious that Ham Eunjung and Oh Hyunkyung were previously casted together as long lost mother and daughter in Suji & Uri but now they're about to meet again as enemies lol
Your beef with Woo-Chul is HILARIOUS, the side characters I hate the most are Do-Bin's family. Genuine fucking…
Omg I'm glad that trend of "mentally disabled" side characters in dailies is dying out. Most of the time the writing comes off as ableist (or worst, when the character falls in love and magically becomes undisabled)
I can usually tolerate the characters like that like the little sister in Yellow Boots or the FLs brother in Miss Montecristo, or the iconic legend Haneul from Temptation of a Wife lmao
I also like Jaebin better than Dobin! Dobin really came off as unlikeable during the birth father thing. He's very self righteous. Jaebin is at least funny at times.
It's so much fun watching this knowing that Woojung is NOT meant to be the lead lol
So now we've reached the point where Youngchae is going to be Sua (with Jeongwon's approval) and Jeongwon is actively linking up with Nansuk to take down her mom (while Nansuk is plotting to get Younchae Kunhyang). THIS was the messiness I was waiting for. This must have been what watching Game of Witches live was like...
I couldn't have asked for anything better lol the fallout from all of this will be nuclear.
Seems like Kibeom will flirt with life and death next episode. At least according to the preview. I thought Taeseok would've been the one to kill him off, but Nansuk could do the job as well...

I really don't like the way Woocheol talks like something about it annoys me lol. Woojung is so dumb I like how Hwakyung told her she doesn't like her anymore like 5 times at this point and Woojung still thinks they are friends lmaoo. It also annoys me that Joowon and Woojung are quick to cast Hwakyung out but somehow think she should do what they want her to do...
I do love that the broadcast audition subverted the whole "bright personality always wins/always has inherent natural talent" trope... even tho Woojung makes it due to her mom's nepotism lol. I do remember her struggling a bit when they start the broadcaster arc...
I agree that Dobin's family is absolutely useless. It's a shame because I actually like the actress that plays his mom but her character here is just 🤮. Not to mention how often the daughter and the dad glaze Woojung. (There I found the mom character refreshing because she was NOT on team Woojung at all lmao) Like we get it, she's the greatest thing since sliced bread (despite said bread having more charisma...)
It sucks because the A plot in this drama is A1 but the B plot drags it down because they give it so much time 😭
Soo-ae's haircut in the beginning of the drama makes me want to cut my hair tbh lol
I'm screaming at the 2ML being played by a JYJ/ex-TVXQ member. (when I got into Korean entertainment TVXQ was THE top group) Watching this drama is like a time capsule in the best ways...

I can't even begin to unpack the preview for tomorrow's episode and the crazy part is we're not even halfway through

I've only ever seen Oh Hyunkyung as a good character so I'm excited to see her play "evil incarnate" lmaooo
It also became really hard to watch once I realized I was on team Kyungchae not Team Lucia lol
Regarding A Woman That Swallows the Sun ...

I love how jaebin always has the tea thanks to his role as Joowon's assistant. He's the secrets and lies version of gossip girl lmaooo
