Jini slapping Dohee to the floor just added 10 years to my life
OH OH OH Sabin calling Youngju out and standing up for Seungwoo was nice to see (and I wasn't expecting it tbh!). "Please show some love to your second son as well" I love that he saw through Youngju's excuses of Seungwoo being a "troublemaker" son and got direct with her. So far, I think the only bad thing about his character is that he likes ciliantro lmao
Besides that we have Seri stepping into her boss era and taking over Minki's company, Oreum's cancer has officially been dx'd. There's been no talk about a transplant yet. Also... Oreum seems younger than the usual token "daily drama child"... Mai mentioned signing him up for kindergarten so I guess he is like 4 years old. Poor Oreum.
I like the idea of the male cafe friend and Jini teaming up to write a children's books. It's a nice break from FLs who want to be fashion designers, which I feel like is the most common "occupation" in a daily lol... makeup being second. The focus on k-animation feels fresh as well. Personally I've only ever watched one Korean animation a looong time ago which was magical girl themed lmao... I feel like people associate animation with Japan (anime) ; animation doesn't tend to fall under the "Hallyu wave" umbrella. That being said, watch enough anime (and I'm not even a big anime watcher by any means) and you'll notice a lot of the animators in the credits have Korean names. Interesting...
Dohee and Jihu, don't feel like a couple at all btw, I do recall Jihu's bio saying he has "emotional scars" from his parents and I wonder how much that factors into him staying with someone who he clearly doesn't like. Iirc, Jihu's dad was a naval captain who was away for months at a time and his mom is status obsessed and overly emotional (it's honestly giving Nate Archibald from the gossip girl novels lmao)
Now a character that I REALLY want to meet is Dohee's mother, who by all accounts, is a nasty piece of work. Hopefully she appears next week... I have a feeling that she is going to end up becoming the "final boss" of the drama lol.
Fun fact: Jang Seohee and Joo Saebyuk previously worked together in the 2022 MBC Daily Drama, Game of Witches! (Joo Saebyuk played the female secretary and Jang Seohee was the female lead)

Right now Gemma is mad that her brother (who is Junho from the first man, a drama I'm trying to forget LMFAO) got killed but heekyung had nothing to do with the brother not minding his business and getting beat up. It sucks that the kids got abandoned but jungkook (the dad's name iirc) is far from the father of the year... Gemma is setting out to avenge an awful person?
Now Heekyung stealing the shoe design.... 👀 I like seeing CMG as a villain protagonist... I hope she gets casted in another daily soon lol
Youngju gets a big hell no from me this episode. Pedastalizing Seunghyun (who I don't think he's as perfect as he comes off as...) while drunkenly verbally abusing Seungwoo. Saying he's like Minki when Seungwoo was deceived (although him calling it love is lmaoooo)? Calling Seunghyun her HUSBAND when he is her SON... what in the emotional incest? lmao a family therapist would have a field day with these characters ðŸ˜. but this is a drama lol so come on Sabin...
Jini standing her ground with Jihu was my favorite part of the episode... the writer is going to have to do witchcraft to get me to like him at this rate lol
Where do we go from here... Oreum has leukemia and will most likely need a transplant... and I bet Jini is going to be the only donor. This will probably be the inciting event that makes everyone turn into a big happy family or the Chas will continue to be jerks towards her. Jini being the only donor is a huge gaping plot hole as well. If Mai's father is truly as rich as everyone says he is, he would have access to hospitals and donors from around the world, including their home country of Vietnam... meaning the Chas wouldn't have to rely on Jini. I assume rich a grand-dad wouldn't just sit around and let his only grandson be ill, foreign country be damned.
Transplant subplots also usually resolve relatively quickly and we still have 106 episodes left. It'll be interesting to see how this goes...
So far my favorite part of the drama has been Seri grabbing Dohee by the hair 🤣 I watched that scene twice!
Seunghyun getting on his knees to Jeongwon's husband was.... idk I am really not feeling Seunghyun, who seems to have missed the memo that Jeongwon lied. I was right there with Seungwoo telling him to get up off the ground ðŸ˜
Hopefully this Oreum getting ill storyline (seems like leukemia?) gets Seunghyun to stop being so pathetically neutral and Mai to focus on her son instead of who is getting Minki's assets...
Jihu is (slowly) waking up and smelling Dohee's BS thanks to Seri. I love to see it !! Seri is supposed to be the "villain" but right now I prefer the Nas to the Chas. (Of course I like Jini!)
Side note I'm also watching My Daughter Geum Sawol where Park Seyoung plays one of the villains, Hyesang. (The Chas should be lucky they aren't going up against her lmao) It does makes me excited for whenever Jini does step into her "power" era, Park Seyoung is gonna be great

re: duration. the American equivalent to this type of show would be soap operas like General Hospital, Bold and the Beautiful etc. New episodes airing Monday to Friday. The only difference is that in America the shows are serialized for years... decades even while in Korea they last a few months. They film as the show airs, the show gets written as it airs...
there are some dramas that are 50 episodes long that also broadcast twice a week. Usually the weekend dramas.

It's not average. Plenty of people with healthy committed relationships in the real world. All the characters being trash here is just for the sake of dramatics, and MBCs attempt to at a riveting story (high viewer ratings). Conflict tends to drive story better than peace does although peace is healthier for you irl
