I think this is my favorite episode yet!! so much ruirui and yanan! the scene of retrieving the blade was so beautiful. I really love their story,, and my heart hurts for ji ling... he's really been through so much. the loneliness of having to stay in that cave for so many years and pretend to be a deity must have been unbearable. I think the fox doll maybe had a sliver of yuan xizai's remaining consciousness that comforted him during that time
and part of why yuan wuhuo stayed with ji ling all this time must be because of his guilt for imprisoning jl for not being able to save his brother even though he saved ywh...
also the osts!! I need yanan and ruirui's songs from this ep released asap!

I love the complexity of yuan wuhuo and ji ling's relationship. I feel that yuan wuhuo must truly love ji ling.
from my understanding, jl took the appearance of yuan xizai when taking human form, and later became the fake long shen for chi wen. ywh accompanied jl for the rest of his life, perhaps originally bc he looks like his didi, watching the young fox slowly lose his innocence and smile as the long shen. as he was about to pass from old age, his last regrets were for the little fox's lonely fate. when the six eyed butterfly devoured ywh, they also took on his lingering obsessions—to protect ji ling forever, and to free ji ling from his shackles as the false deity—splitting into li jie and dieyao ywh. in the end, everything ywh does is for ji ling

but chang'e did betray hou yi, because she stole the elixir meant for him :( it doesn't seem like lwy would betray jl tho

damn, for some reason I still feel like ji ling is acting. he plays a villain so well but he still doesn't seem like a bad person, I want to give him the benefit of the doubt. there must be some other motive for everything
