Just finished this one like yesterday and regretted it why I didn't watch it waaaay earlier. If my memory serves me write, SPIKE was the first one I watched among the four. Couple of months later, Side by Side. At that point, I was blown away by Tor's performance and really find it hard to watch the last two installments, S.O.S and Shoot! I Love You.
When I thought among the 4 Project S series, Side by Side remained my favorite for the longest. Until I had the chance to watch this one in two days. Episodes 1 to 6 on the first day and the remaining 2 on the next.
Now I can say that Side by Side and S.O.S are at toe to toe when it comes my favorite. And what they have in common other than both involve mental health? It is the acting of the leads that is rare to find. From James twitches to his facial expression, hands down and deserving a hat tip. But with his succeeding series like In Family We Trust and Great Men Academy, it feels like that he wasn't given enough material and space to show his great acting skills. Even he has the lead role in GMA, comparing it with this an IFWT, the character is just so-so. I really couldn't blame James for that after all, his character as Love in GMA is quite restricted.
Then Toni comes along. When his character was introduced, I was thinking, oh boy, James will have him for breakfast. True enough that happened, until the middle of the series. From the middle up until the end, his acting is at par with James. The two of them are unleashing left and right on the spot acting. Toni's portrayal of Simon is pretty far from his character in Club Friday 10, Top, and A Gift to the Person You Hate, Chut. That alone speaks volume.
I feel pretty bad for the ladies, Pat and Praew. Let's go first with Pat, as Doctor Bell she is astonishing. Beautiful if I may say so. What was lacking for me is her character's interactions with James, Boo. Bell is an integral part of the development of Boo's character but somehow, it taken the back seat. Don't get me wrong, Bell was there for Boo at the right time, and they were several. She was given a brief history as well. But it feels like that she should have been there for Boo more. Often times I feel that her role became a supporting one instead of a main. Take her role in "The Stranded", even though that series has a stellar cast, and her airtime is not so much as with Beam's Kraam, she was able to shime. So much so that sometimes, she outshine Chaleeda's character, Arisa.
I will talk about Praew next. The first time I watched her was in "Bangkok Love Stories: Innocence" as Eve opposite of Pond's character Danny. In Innocence, she is this sweet girl proving something that she worth to someone. But in SOS, she lacks development eventhough her character Fern played an important role that "broke" Boo. Her angst, dreadful looks doesn't make you feel scared of her. Her actions is nothing be amazed about especially being with James, Toni and Pat. And among the four, her character was the least developed, and inconsistent if I may say so.
Well I guess it is really hard for these 4 great artist to be at par with one another and someone has to take the back seat. Unfortunately, it is the girls.
For the story itself. It is a daring one and an eye-opener too. It doesn't sugar coat the mental health issue. It was presented raw, it was so raw that there are some scenes that you like to look away. But those scenes serve as a wake up call as it is a symptoms from what Boo is suffering from. Sad to say though, even there are lot advocates for mental health, it is still considered to be a taboo, something that is not openly discussed. What Boo is suffering from is just one of a number of mental health concerns that needs to be brought up and tackled. We need more series like this.
Definitely! I had Gameboys at the top of my list, but this passed that up with the superb acting. Gameboys still…
Did you miss the part where Cairo's character developed? The reason why his father got infected and the forced coming out? But he came out of his shell, from denying his feelings to falling head over heels. Unlike Gavreel.
Gavreel is as transparent as a glass window. He showed the playful side and the serious side too. He never dismissed nor denied his sexuality. Straight-forward too, no beating around the bush type of guy.
Then there is Pearl. The typical shipper. The perfect support for the main couple. Much like Yihwa of Together With Me. Pond of Love By Chance. Techno of TharnType. But her role is crucial for the guys to be still together.
Jaonaay reminds me of Peak Peemapol. I guess it's the hairstyle. Nont is freaking cute playing a geeky character. An A-hole Ice Paris really fits his facial features. Sawanya's role is total departure in her character in "In Family We Trust", not that really mischievous and more of a jolly gal.
Link for Episode 2 already added under "Discussion"
Episode 2 is like a marshmallow... Sweet and Fluffy! I like they made reference to the prequel, more intimate. Take that Mok! Have a taste of your own medicine. LOL
The F! I thought I couldn't shed a tear or two anymore and was over and done with "Happy Birthday" and "Theory of Love"... I am so damn wrong!
Part 2 and 3 of Episode 11 is, is, is... oh just watch it!
As usual, Ohm is excellent. But I can not discount First's performance. It is on level with Ohm. More series for him and he could win what Ohm won so far, in recent years... Line TV Best Dramatic Scene for "He's Coming to Me" and Best Supporting actor for his role as Dew in "Dew the movie" which was awarded by Bangkok Critic Assembly.
To be honest, I saw First in "Wolf" first, but he was outshine by the likes of Toni, Newwie and Off. The first time I saw his potential is in Blacklist where he show a number of emotions. He played his character is just on a different level, a good level.
As for the story itself, I never expect that it will come to this point. Well, that is how I "operate". I don't expect anything from what I watch. It just ruin the magic and when you set an expectations, and it fell short, you tend to be disappointed. Besides, expectations can cloud one's judgement over how one actor plays a role or a good the story is. It keeps me level-head. I guess my reviews in MDL is a testament to that.
Same here. He played the character really good. Considering he had theater and arts background based on his IG…
I was able to stumble upon a BL role for him, Unlocked Calvin & Drake, Ep 2. It has 5 episodes, each episode features a different couple. Definitely a departure from his character as Junjun.
With 3 episodes left, sigh... I'm prepping for the most heart-wrenching episode. And this series' progression is slowly but surely and worth the wait every week. So far, it still manages the incorporate in each episode the happiness, sad to tear dropping, romantic excitement and laughther sides.

Yep. My newest happy pill.
The eye bags tell a lot.
The character named "Time"... Gift is time travel? And connect the dots from there.

"I want to cherish our moment as a memoir. And I want you to have these best moments as birthday presents."
"Since we met, my heart calls for no one but you."... "Me too."
*** I will use these 3 lines as the basis of my comprehensive, actual and a different take as a review.
And they really have to hang it to the "climax". If you know what I mean LOLOLOLOL
They better do it.
Nont is freaking cute playing a geeky character.
An A-hole Ice Paris really fits his facial features.
Sawanya's role is total departure in her character in "In Family We Trust", not that really mischievous and more of a jolly gal.
But based on Tops Thailand FB page: https://www.facebook.com/TopsThailand/photos/a.127073327320362/3635881249772868
One can see a tearing Jeff.

Romantic excitement is still there. And perhaps the possible conflict is already introduced. This is going to be a fast ride!
