After season 2 has been confirmed my expectations are pretty high. After all, the fist season of "The Gifted" is still the #1 Thai Drama as far as this site is concern. Can GMMTV outdo themselves? This is a make or break season for them.
Make it, the GMMTV will leave a legacy with this series.
Break it, let's justs say I don't want to talk about it.
For the story itself, how I wish that the gift of the students will improve. And find an answer to one loose end, Punn's demon, after appearing as a reflection.
What I am anticipating to impress me: Phuwin's acting. When he played Morn in "My Tee", I knew right then and there that he has a potential to become a great actor. Yes, his character there is bubbly and there are numerous scene where I could say that he improvised his acting. After seeing his character here, specifically in the stairs, which I find a mixture of Wave and Punn's characters. The aggressive, confrontational facial expression and the aura that he is emitting that he is going to be the Wave of his batch.
Trailer#2 with Eng Sub:https://youtu.be/3LFn3pjpYj8I accidentally switched tab on my browser and my News Feed…
I am bother by the adult Phob said: "He's not here anymore"... But towards the end of the trailer, someone said "Hello, Pob". Clearly, it is Ohm's voice. So, either my earlier theory is correct and the adult Pob is just reminiscing hearing the young Dew's voice, or, it is really the adult Dew.
Dang! So far, with these 2 trailers, my heart is breaking!
I accidentally switched tab on my browser and my News Feed updated with this. Was watching Episode 1 of "The Effect"... Then search YouTube if there a version with Eng Sub. What do you know? It has!
What I observed in Trailer #2 is in "Reveal Spoiler"
If you watch the opening of the episode in the legit platform, LINE TV, if you didn't miss the part that says: "RAI KAN TO PAI NI..." Or first part of the sub "The following program is intended for mature audiences." Let me stress, MATURE.
That should have given you a fair warning that there will be scenes that are not for general, narrow-minded, holy than thou as if never sinned before viewers.
Right there and then, you should have stopped already. After all, real life isn't about all sunshine and rainbows, there are dark and rainy moments too.
First of all a nice effort to make science fiction-alien invasion story. As much as possible I don't want to compare this specific movie from the Western ones with the same storyline, sci-fi + alien invasion. As Western countries definitely are way ahead in that area. Unlike Chinese movies which geared towards to the fantasy, supernatrual, ancient times themed.
Is this a breath of a fresh air? Not exactly "fresh" since it stinks on so many levels. But again, nice effort.
The story was rushed. It lacks a backgrounder other than a less then 5-minutes narration of events leading to the current situation. It could have been nice if they showed how the technology was discovered and spread all over the world to give it more depth what mankind is fighting, other than survival of course. It didn't give enough details about the alien except, one day they just appeared in the skies and started attacking cities. No origin story of the alien race.
At the start of the movie, you will have a feeling and expectations that this will be a hard-core sci-fi film but you will realize that it is more on the romance side rather the prior. The romance side is horrendous at best with few glances and entirely no connection and chemistry between them. Then there is another aspect of the movie that you think could be a savior: the friendship side. Like the romance side, it failed to develop to put more weight on the friendship among the four other than just living together.
In short, the story is all over the place and there is no core and identifying aspect of the film until the end which by the way sucks!
Interaction among the cast... from the romance side and the friendship side definitely shows no connection. Bland. Even the command structure of the "military".
The only redeeming factor of this movie is the effects. HOWEVER, there are some scenes that the FX is too obvious that it does not blend in that well. But it is a good start for Chinese filmmaker to catch up with the West when it comes to hardcore science fiction genre. Or should just stay in the fantasy fiction, martial arts/sword fighting theme, which they excel?
The only reason why I watched this is because of Shu Qi. Loved her since "So Close".
Now I'm off to watch "The Wandering Earth" which is another science fiction themed movie and shows promise.
You can see on the title of the YouTube video, "The Series" and in the video itself, on the upper left hand cornder "5 Years Later" and at the last part of the BTS of the OMV says "5 Years Later".
So I guess they merge the two together, orginally intended to be aired separately. Hence the delayed airing/release day. Wayufilm might have shot scenes that will include both the old and the new one.
I bet this will be another awesome performance from Ohm.About the movie, how I THINK will go down is in the "Reveal…
The young girl in a school uniform is actually Dew's daughter. The adult Pob said "You keep reminding me of someone." Could be pertaining that the girl looks like Dew back in the days.
The lady that holds the adult Pob cheek is Dew's wife. The cry says that the lady said something heartbreaking... "Dew is already dead". What will be more heartbreaking is Dew confessed to his wife that he will search of Pob and somewhere along the way, he met his demise. So far, there is no adult Dew in the trailed that has been released so far.
We all know how "Love of Siam" ended and for me, it is still the most heartbreaking one that tops even the newer ones like "My Bromance". Could this one topple it? We'll soon find out.
I'm confused. I saw Wayufilm Production posting stuff about My Bromance 2: 5 Years Later on Youtube awhile ago,…
You're not alone in the confusion. LOL That was my initial thinking as well, this specific Fluke-Fluke 5 Years Later would be a mini-series based on the YT Nov 2018 teaser. Then few month laters, Wayufilm FB set for a casting call for the My Bromance 2 the series. Recently, the post is saying that the cast will be a mix of the old "old" ones and "new" ones. Even Wayufilm FB page posting artist pics have different title. One is "My Bromance 2: 5 Years Later" and the other is "My Bromance 2 the series"
Wayufilm's FB page released last Sept 18... It is set to be aired in 2020 (2563 Thai Buddhist calendar year, subtract 543 to get the Gregorian calendar year). Translation does not give exact air date, just year.
