I finally finished the show too. I also binged the last 6 episodes in a day. I agree with you that something changed…
I love the show and thought the chemistry is great. But I can kind of see what you mean by the romance. I am an introvert by nature. I think the ML is introverted too. To be honest, as an introvert, I would run the other way instead of fall for FL.
But the ML sold me on the romance somehow. I can see the look in his eyes change when he watches her. At first, it was just curiosity about someone he can't really comprehend. It changed to amusement by her antics pretty quickly; and it slowly got more pensive like he is wondering if being more open with his emotions like her is the 'better way' (despite the inevitable pain).
I reached ep 19 and want to keep going. Some of the scenes dragged, so I started skipping some moments. I love…
Li Lun is involved but he did not do the killing. I think it’s worth watching a bit more to finish the ML's back-story. There are more pacing issues in the latter episodes but that's what the fast forward button is for :P
I took a break after 30 because it was starting to feel repetitive (with the plague again). I just restarted and am less than one episode further and it's the dream/fantasy life again.
I love the early episodes. But like I posted before, I think the plot/pacing really went downhill after the failed ceremony, when they sidelined the ML and promoted SML to main driver of the story. It's not so much that the SML is less engaging. It's more like the story just kind of repeats, like they ran out of ideas. They even "kill" the same characters twice....
The show started going downhill around 20. I had to take a break when the kid got snatched from someone's hold at the scene of a car crash. That was so unbelievable and unrealistic, like the case with the girl with the heart disease and the "aftermath". I just couldn't continue. I re-started a month later and I finally finished it.
I did not have high hopes anymore but I must say the ending still manages to be extremely disappointing. They have time to show flashbacks and an awards ceremony. They certainly have time to show a reunion between RanRan and her mom. They chose not to do it. It almost felt like an insult to the audience who were invested in the story.
I still gave the show an 8 because the first part is one of the most gripping and touching drama I've seen in a while. I just wished they hadn't ruined it towards the end *sigh*
I don’t think they ever tried to hide it. The screen time and resources given to TOP made it clear to me from…
Yes, I know what you mean. I love a "come back" or second chance type story. I just finished episode 4. I thought it is funny they decided not to eliminate a team because TOP was on the bottom. As if they can be any less obvious how biased they are.
Still, all the performances were good and refreshing, except TOP which did yet another "idol" stage. Why aren't Mango making them do something different? I would not be complaining so much if they at least show some growth. They can learn so much from the older brothers but they just all hang out by themselves and keep doing the same thing. I fast-forward whenever they are on screen now.
okay at this point they're not even hiding their bias for top anymore-if you see cmbf youtube's channel and the…
I don’t think they ever tried to hide it. The screen time and resources given to TOP made it clear to me from episode 1 that they want the show to be a platform for them. I am too old to find kids attractive. I want to see people my age, which is one of the reasons I used to love call me by fire. That said, I took a break last week and am watching episode 3. The silly song selection game was fun as is the xbrothers segment. I'm a little less inclined to drop the show now than I was (after episode 2) despite the clear TOP bias.
Yeah, I finally finished it. Before starting, I was damn excited mainly because of the actors—more than the…
I finally finished the show too. I also binged the last 6 episodes in a day. I agree with you that something changed midway through the show. I absolutely adore the first half. But the 2nd half felt both rushed and slow at the same time.
The first half was slow, but the pacing felt perfect. It takes time for relationships to develop, and the ML's hesitation and inner struggle around his feelings towards FL really resonated with me. His quiet slow journey towards love is such a great contrast to the FL's determined (at times exaggerated) positive energy.
But in the 2nd half, there are more happening story-wise. There are scenes that felt unfinished and a little disconnected. I felt that the bittersweet emotional core, which is what I love about the show, wasn't given enough time to shine.
Yet, at the same time, because the plot itself isn't that novel or interesting, some of the scenes that were needed to move the plot but weren't directly linked to the central love story (and SML's character journey because of it) felt long and dragged out.
The 1st half was a 10 for me even though I don't usually watch romance. As much as the 2nd half is less good by comparison, it is probably still a 9 since I cried twice for ML in that half (instead of 'just' almost crying in the 1st half).
I finished one more "episode" with a lot fast forwarding. It's clear they want the show to be a platform for TOP. I agree comments that the show has run its course. I am seriously thinking about dropping and just catching the 0713 and xbrothers performances later on the pure stage videos
well i feel the same as you all. why did they take away all the charme previous seasons had? instead oft a friendly…
Me too. The best part of the show was the friendship and different artists working together to give surprisingly great performances. I love 0713, but some of the best parts of season 3 stemmed from Choi Kwok Hing breaking up the four of them.
I also don't like including TOP. Can't they let viewers who don't want to watch teeny boppers have 1 show to watch? Sure, they dance well, but all 3 performances I've seen is just dancing.
I'd honestly prefer to watch some of the older non-experts learn new skills. That was always what impressed me the most since season 1. Established artists jumping out of their comfort zone. Champion dancers learning to sing, Terry Lin rapping, Chen Chu Sheng and Gem dancing.
I've only seen the 1st "episode" and I needed the liberal use of the fast forward button to do that. I will probably not drop as long as 0713 and xbrothers and the HK team are there but I'm honestly not enjoying this season at all.
I stopped mid-20 so that I can accumulate episodes and binge. I am excited that I can finally watch again this weekend.
I think this is a much better show when binged than watched a few episodes at a time. There are plot points and actions that comes off as annoying and stupid at the time that later on become important and made sense.
I love the show now, but I would probably have dropped at episode 2 or 3 if I didn’t have the first 10 on hand when I started. It took a few episodes for the show to hit its stride, so I suspect a lot of the low ratings came from those who didn't get past the start.
I just finished. I want to like this show. There are parts I like about this show. But the plot really defies logic and common sense in so many places. For a detective show, that is like the worst mistake to make. The villain acts like he's from a comic book instead of a reality based drama, and the final section is so completely ridiculous that I almost dropped it with 1.5 episodes left. I stayed for ML, fast-forwarded and only watched his scenes. It is such a waste of good actors. I don’t want to give a bad score, but this is one of the worst shows I finished.
I am gonna start it. can someone spoil this for me a little bit ? (not too much, just a little plot please)1-…
I have not finished. It's so far a yes to 1, 2 and 4. 3 is dependent on your pov. There is one central villain who enables all the killings but he doesn't do much killing himself.
I kept watching . I feel dumber after watching 3 episodes. The whole sex offender case made zero sense. The attempted assault in the 1st episode should have landed the guy back in jail. But the ML is so cool in an action role!! I'll try to watch this like fiery priest 2 and island, i.e. with zero expectation of logic. Hopefully that will let me enjoy the show.
Started because I am a fan of ML and I like action thriller/detective shows (with no or little romance). But I'm just one episode in, and there are already enough scenes that made so little common sense that I'd probably have dropped if not for the ML. Is there anyone else who started for ML and like mysteries? Do you think the ML is cool enough in the show to make up for the insult to common sense/logic?
hi! i wanna ask if we purchased premium vip on wetv, did we get finale and express ep??
Yeah, it's been one logic-defying plot point after another since around ep 20. I am waiting but to be honest I am kind of losing motivation to finish the last few episodes.
throughout 27 eps that i watched, I've never seen dengyan's parents visit ranran's mom. or am i mislook?
I am only on 23. I think it's just the one scene, but it was shown more than once in flashbacks. It was when DY was still a child where the dad blamed her and the mom asked them to just leave
Hmm, I'm on ep23. I thought the show was pretty realistic and logical until the case if the girl who needed surgery a couple of episodes back. Then, in this episode, two characters somehow ended up on a secluded mountain road after arresting a bad guy in the city at a location that can be reached via taxi. I'm not at the end yet, but at this point, I agree with the other comments about this turning into a bit of a mess. The show started so well. It was easily one of the most gripping shows I've seen this year. It's a shame if it falls flat at the end.
Why does the length of ML's hair keep changing? SomeSomet it's wavey and short, sometimes it's straight and long😅
I think in general hair length is variable for the same character in costume dramas. Supposedly, they have the hair "up" in different ways (tight bun, bun with some hair flowing, hair flowing with sides held back), so the length differs.
But realistically, the bun will need to be much bigger to hold hair of that length. That happens in almost all the shows when characters go between the neat (hair up) style and the unkempt (hair down) style. This show just have more styles for ML than the usual two, heheh
Old bug said your "junior sister" is your antidote. He fed him something. My mandarin isn't great (I speak…
I suspect the cure probably involves seriously harming ML and maybe also FL. I think Little white dragon is too kind to know that kind of procedure. It kind of reminds me of DFS get to Level 8 of Beifeng Baiyan in Mysterious lotus casebook. The meridians has to be completely destroyed and remade. Except there was nothing cheesy about LLH and DFS (just the best frenemy vibes)
