I think this is my favorite Lost Tomb show. I kind of gave up on lost tomb because i don't like shows ending in cliffhangers and not picking up where they left off. I was so annoyed that I couldn't finish Lost tomb 2 and skipped Ultimate Note.
I started Reunion for ZhuYiLong and was happy that it actually had a proper conclusion. So when I saw this side movie come up as a rec on youtube, I watched it. The story was kind of ridiculous and the production value is iffy, but the chemistry between the leads is so good!! I even went back to watch Ultimate Note because I want to watch more of Hei Yan Jing and Xiao Hua. I really hope these two will revive their roles in another lost tomb show in the future.
Ep 40 when you see LLH grow radishes, its time to stop 🤣🤣🤣 i am serious, dont miss it, since this is…
Heheh, 40 also have a great sword dance. But I'd probably stop at 39 as the ending to be on the safe side. I could tell from the sword dance where things were headed and that's the 1st thing in 40.
Please what episode would you say this show gets gripping? I just started ep 5 and I've already started fast forwarding…
Like many others, it's from episode one for me too, and it grows on me even more after DFS appears. Granted, after that, I started wishing DFS is in more scenes with LLH and FDB, but the anticipation makes me even more engaged.
Technically there are subtitles, but they are so bad that it's the same as not having any. I'm giving this a try while waiting for episodes of white cat legend. The case itself seems interesting so far, but the way the show got the FL and ML working together kind of makes no sense to me.
I'm tired to watch this. Currently on ep 21 but I think it's too much action scene. I watch it bcs it's a detective…
It is the same for me too. The initial episodes were predictable, but the focus are the mysteries and solving each case. With the high production value and good acting/chemistry, this was my favorite show this year so far.
But starting from the desert case, it's like everything is set up for showdown with Heiyan. The crime/detective elements are so simple and obvious that there's not much to keep me engaged. I like mystery shows for a reason; and it's turning into a philosophical drama instead.
I think I'm 2 cases from being done but the empty gourd case after the desert case was so bad that I can’t bring myself to move to the next one yet. I'll probably finish eventually, but I may not come back for season two.
I'm alternating between Judge Dee and this show. This is a bit "fluffy" and silly, but I think the mysteries are not as predictable because of the mystic elements. I watch so many mystery shows, so for me, the cases in Judge Dee were very predictable. Then again, this means the show is very logical plotwise; and the production value in Judge Dee seems much better to me. It took a long time for me to find something I truly enjoy watching after MLC, so two wuxia/mysteries airing at the same time has made me very happy
I struggle to understand why xiao shunyao is cast in a more prominent role than Fang Yilun when the latter is…
I came to this noard because im a huge fan of MLC and became a fan of the whole cast . This board was really nice and friendly before andbwhere I can find snippets of XSY leaks while I wait for Hero Legends. I'm surprised to find so much hate towards him here now. I suppose haters are going to hate and IMO XSY was perfectly casted as Di Feisheng in MLC. So if his character here is anything like that (and given it's the same author, it is entirely possible), I would think he'd be great here too.
Given how unlucky XSY has been acting career-wise, I honestly don't think him getting a role will ever be an example of nepotism. Sure, he gained a lot from MLC, but he wouldn't have if he didn't do a good job as his character. And if casting directors want to cast (typecast) him as the "fierce/stron g/quiet" type in wuxia dramas, I'd say he earned it.
I love mysteries in general, but I can't get into the first case for some reason. It is very predictable and slow. I guessed who has to be the villain and the "twist" like pretty much right away. I only managed to sit through the 1st four episodes while reading up other stuff. But I think the pace/story really starts picking up after the 1st case. The 2nd case is still super predictable but it moved much faster. I'm on the 3rd case now, and for the 1st time in the series, I'm not sure who the villain is yet (being 2 episodes into the case). I'm hoping it will continue to get better.
The production value is excellent and the cast/chemistry is great too. I don’t care much about romance in general either, but i think Cao is very important to the ML's father's case and as ML's sounding board. So I'm watching their scenes pretty carefully for clues/foreshadowing. I think this is my favorite cdrama this year so far.
Do you recommend this to me even though i hate the flying fight scenes and the overdone screen effects 😆 ?…
I am a huge fan of the show and has seen some episodes more time than I want to count. But I actually laughed out loud and stopped watching the show in the starting sequence. I came back to the show a few days later since i love mysteries. I sat through the first sequence and then fell in love with the humor (and main character) pretty much by the end of the 2nd scene. So if you like mysteries, good chemistry between leads and a great deal of humor mixed in with the seriousness, I'd say give it a try.
Also I must say that after seeing the behind the scenes, i got a new appreciation for the starting sequence. The action sequence look amazing without the CGI. Cheng Yi and Xiao Shun Yao are both awesome.
I'm on episode 4 in season 2 now. I am liking it more than season 1 so far. It moves faster, doesn’t have an annoying FL and doesn't have those random flashbacks that weren't put in context. But I can also see the reason for some of the criticisms. I think the stories aren't as poignant and the characters are less introspective and more "let's go do this!". I personally prefers the 2nd season approach and find it hard to stop binging (as opposed to S1 which I can only take in small doses). At the pace I'm watching, I'll probably be done in a day or two :P
Xiao Bao expression was so cute 😬https://twitter.com/deulamachingu/status/1707012003313889376
Heheheh, I watched that episode so many times. I remember noticing this on the 2nd watch and going back to check if LLH poured tea for AFei (which he did). I wonder if this has something to do with Chinese tradition about pouring tea for one's master. It would have been inappropriate the other way around. So maybe it's a sign that LLH was acknowledging FDB as his student?
IQiyi took down youtube concert huhu...I hope they post it at iqiyi International app huhu
It will be great if they'd put it on the iqiyi international app. I watched it once on YouTube before they took it down but would love to watch it again.
I dislike how much Cheng Yi character there is weak and miserable I was hoping that he would gain his power back…
He has 2 awesome sword dances, 2 longer amazing fight scenes and a couple of shorter ones (after episode 20). A small % of LXY is better than most people's 100% (x 10). So if you're looking for fight scenes which looks amazing even without the cgi, this show is the one to watch/finish.
Though to be honest, as awesome as the fight scenes were, I think Cheng Yi's spot-on portrayal of LXY and LLH and the clear contrast between the two characters is a great demonstration of his talent and not at all a waste. I don't think anyone else could have brought these characters to life the way he did

Cant find the picture as in the link, have you tried to buy it?
I'm in US and have a iqiyi us standard vip plan. I just clicked through the link and with my limited simplified chinese reading capacity, it seems that I need a phone number from china, hk, macau or taiwan to move forward with payment confirmation. So I'm guessing the broadcast isn't available for oversea fans :(
I just found out that our Xiao Bao and A'Fei was in a variety show together (暑与我们的夏天2) Wasn't that…
I didn’t know that. Thank you! I still can't start another show and am watching the cast's variety shows on YouTube instead. Cheng Yi is just so ridiculously adorably!! And I never knew A'Fei is such an amazing singer and dancer. His performance of flourishing (with a chinese opera singer) and his modern dance on shine, super brothers gave me goosebumps... Anyhow, i just found 8 parts of this on YouTube. There's no subtitles (English or Chinese) though. My mandarin sucks, but I will still give this a try.
It's not with MLC cast, but Blood of youth is pretty good. and also love and redemption is hard to watch in the…
Hmm, I like unpredictable. I suppose I can try love and redemption again (after trying some of the other recs) with judicious use of the fast forward button... Thank you :)
I recommend similar dramas to MLC Blood of Youth Sleuth of Ming dynasty Ancient detective joy of lifeNirvana in…
Thank you! I saw blood of youth right before MLC. It made me love MLC more. It highlights how unique LLH is as a character and the message of accepting the past, learning from it and changing oneself for the better. For me, that is what "growing up" is about; and it's so rare to see that in a drama. Most of the time, the character journey is about getting powerful (or experienced) enough to complete a previously impossible task, but the essence of the character remains unchanged. In some ways, that's FDB's journey, which is probably why I like him less than LLH and DFS. Anyhow, sorry for the rambling and thank you for the recs :)
