Wow, the FL went from cool to annoying in less than 1 episode. The ML is right. She is not qualified to be a cop. I am on 4 and I am to the point where I almost can't stand her. I hope she improves and stop acting like a spoiled violent child soon. I might have to drop even though I like everyone else in the cast.
Finally finished after taking a break from it for a bit. The second half is a lot quicker pace and more engaging than the first half. There are still a lot of things that doesn’t make sense (that happened for the convenience of the plot), but the story move fast enough that I don't have time to think too much and be annoyed. It helped that I like Rain, and the husband character really grew on me in the second half. I'm surprised at how much I sympathesized with him.
I complained in my first comment about the FL. Now that I've finished, I think it's mostly the writers fault. The romance and chemistry is so uneven through the show. The story has the FL flip-flopping between stoic and too dramatic/sweet. And in some of the later episodes, the story had Rain, who has devotion shining from the way he looks at FL most of the time, occasionally forget the romance and act like a detective discussing a case with a partner.
Overall I enjoyed the show and gave it an 8 on the strength of the second half. But I can see grading it lower if one is looking for a more logical story or a more evenly developed romance.
Re-watching now it's on Netflix. I remember liking the show a lot a long time ago. I am only on episode 2 and I must say I don’t like the FL so much anymore. But I think the story and ML held up surprisingly well. The random missing episode 4 is annoying though.
Just finished. It is an entertaining fast-paced watch. But the ending is a little anticlimactic. I think it would have been better if they took a bit more time on the main story and ended on its resolution instead of spending the last 1.5 episodes with a time skip and an unrelated mystery.
Just finished. I was enjoying it even though nothing much really happens because of the meaningful conversations and fun characters until the last couple of episodes. I thought they deliberately created problems for the FL and ML to drag it out and keep them in the story. Part of why I like the show was because I thought the characters were realistic despite being quirky. But the whole "you should have told me everything including business secrets because we are dating" totally broke that positive impression. The only consequential development in 38-40 is the resolution of two of the side characters' story. I think it would have been better if those resolutions were moved earlier and the show is shortened.
Show is engaging though very predictable. It is short and fast paced so it is a fun watch. If you are looking for a thought provoking mystery, this is not it. But if you like mysteries with a logical progression that just goes down one central story without distraction, this show does it very well. I think they do too much foreshadowing and flashback which makes the mystery too predictable, but everything makes sense (despite the time travel premise) and there isn't much draggy melodrama. I'd say it's between an 8/9 for me.
Aw man, i really don't like it when they add romance to a perfectly good crime, action drama. I wanted more of…
Same here. I'm on episode 10 and losing interest. I do not want to watch the FL pining and the random flashbacks. It serves no purpose other than slowing the pace and kills the momentum. I'm debating to drop or stick it out. It's just 2 more episodes. On that note, does S1 end with resolution of ML back story? Or do I need to commit to S2 as well for the ending? I have no intention of watching S2 so I might as well drop now instead of waste 2 more hours for a non-ending.
Can anyone share their thoughts on Namkoong Min? I haven't had the chance to watch any of his dramas yet, but…
I think the biggest contrast are the Veil and Good manager. His characters in those are such polar opposites. Veil showcase his intensity/emotional depth and Good manager his comedic talent.
Then again, I think he's great in pretty much all his shows and he has great taste in choosing projects. So I don't think you can go wrong with anything he's in after 2017
Just finished binging this over 3 days. It is so good! I must say that I I prefer the mind games between Na Yi Ji and Lee Jae Joon towards the end than with Chief Seon in the beginning. I think those two are much more strategic than Chief Seon and are better matched intectually as opponents. I never got the sense that the Chief can outsmart Na Yi Ji, so the back and forth in the first half felt a little long. But once the chief is removed as main opponent and more a lower level player looking out for himself, it flows much better and is edge-of-seat engaging.
Are there romantic or romcoms dramas he’s played in like my dearest or beautiful gong shim ?
Undateables. I couldn't get past the 2nd episode because I can't handle the over-the-top FL. But his character is very cute in there, so it's worth checking out if you're into romcoms.
ep 10 is out now on my end (singapore) - so hopefully it's out elsewhere too!!
Thank you. No new episode on US Netflix yet. But it says next episode Wednesday, so it is consistent with January 8th. Hopefully, I will get it tomorrow *fingers crossed*
Is there a way to watch ep10 without vpn? Netflix advertised new episodes but the list is still stuck on 9. It's the same with okura. It is stupid that i need to pay for vpn just to watch the last episode
They could have ended the show nicely, but they had to put the cliffhanger set up for next season right at the end. It was a fun and easy watch, but that ending kind of ruined it for me.
I just binged ep8 to the end in one go. I like the mystery elements a lot even though it's a bit predictable. The story moves quickly and is a quick and fun watch.
I recently became a huge fan when I finally got around to watching the Veil. I liked him in Awaken, but he is so different in the Veil I didn’t even recognize him at first. I watched one dollar lawyer next and that and started me on a binge of his shows. I do not like romance or melodrama as a rule, so I did Stove league, Good manager and Falsify next.
I am now stuck between choosing to watch a romance or him as villain/antihero. I gave Beautiful Kong Shim a try and somehow managed to turn brain off and enjoy his performance. But I don't think I could have handled that show if I wasn't coming off a 2nd re-watch of Good manager.
Which other drama of his would you recommend I try next? Dr Prisoner is more my kind of show but I heard his character is amazing in Dearest.
I don’t usual watch romance but I recently became a huge fan of Namkoong Min and am going through his dramas. I have to say, as much as his portrayal of the ML is adorable for most parts, the ML's behavior is totally horrible whenever his relationship with FL is about to get serious (starting about mid-way through). I honestly cannot believe the FL just put up with and forgive all of that. I mean the first time was bad but it is a little understandable given the ML is not in the right headspace, but the next two times?!
I can't help but feel like ML character got assassinated so that they can introduce more conflict and make the show longer. The ML was so sweet in the beginning that it's hard to imagine him capable of doing what he did.
It reminds me of why I don’t usually watch romance. I feel like my common sense is being insulted and want to smack the leads. The only difference is that this time I somehow managed to watch the ML and FL performances with my rational brain off. I even enjoyed their quirkiness, humor and chemistry even though my brain is telling me it makes no sense.
Started this after watching Ghost Doctor and Welcome to Life since I wanted to check out more of Rain's other dramas. I'm on episode two and I'm feeling like my intelligence is being insulted. The random thugs giving away secrets, the FLs reactions and the ML's instant inexplicable attraction to FL, none of that makes sense.
The FL has like one expression and as much as the ML looks believably sweet with the FL, I cannot understand why he'd be so into her when they've just met. I am glad this is only 10 episodes. I don't think i can stand more even though I adore seeing ML in a suit.
Just started watching. Marry my dead body was silly at times but it's mostly very funny and sweet. It was touching in its own way. This show is cringingly stupid by comparison. I know its like a spoof and I laughed pretty hard at the opening song (spoofing James Bond). But I wish they would just focus on ML, FL and chief and get rid of all the other detectives. Their antics are just ridiculous and not funny.
