WHAT WAS THAT CUT FROM HER FIGHT SCENE. Absolutely robbed us of seeing her kicking ass. The last episode she had action in was like ep 12?!

and where on earth did the commoners come from.... watching her in the military camp... smh

chinese netizens are on another level... recently i've been seeing Wu Lei and Julia Xiang getting flamed for their looks :(

same, i'm finding her character genuinely cute which is pleasantly surprising. I guess they thought it would be too dreary / heavy if it was completely revenge focused. I loved The Double for example but had to watch lighthearted stuff in between as a break hahaha

they kept cracking up behind the scenes AHAHA

i've been wanting to see them work together for so long but it's quite unlikely it'll happen anytime soon...cuz Zhou Ye's colleague from the same company, Xu Ruo Han just had a show with Zhang Linghe recently :(

more and more people have been talking about wanting to see Zhou Ye x Zhang Linghe though so hopefully directors and the companies can make it happen

i really liked the shows you listed at the end, as well as their characters - maybe it's just this genre of cdrama mystery solving that I don't prefer (i watch lots of western crime shows e.g. NCIS, Chicago PD, where one case only lasts for one episode so maybe i'm spoilt by that pacing haha)

i've only watched up to ep 11 for this show so can't comment on the later episodes, but so far there seems to be a repetitive formula of the FL showing her 101 skills except for protecting herself properly and the ML keeps coming to her rescue like that's his only role HAHA

yeah i see the plot armour and the FL is definitely a Mary Sue, unless you consider having a Hero Complex a flaw, lol. It's an ok watch if you're new to detective shows -- I personally find most of them too repetitive, including Mysterious Lotus Casebook that has super high ratings.

Honestly the cast is carrying this show for me

yeah the Mary Sue aspect annoyed me and the only flaw they gave her was a Hero complex. Which ended up being even more annoying 😅

also whenever i see a friend group in shows like these, i'm prepared for at least one of the characters to die :(

i love how they mix diff eras here, we get to see them both in republican fashion (without too much angst hopefully) and modern clothes as well!

would've been great if he could keep playing that Li Shiliu role but with her knowing it's him ... win-win

she's so pretty, acts quite well too.. wished she had more interesting dramas though

if you're looking for a more lighthearted squad type of one, I would recommend Blood of Youth! It's more wuxia though

the other xianxias i quite enjoyed were Back from the Brink / Legend of Shen Li, but also heard good things about The Starry Love.
