I have a question regarding the statistics (specifically, the genre and tags summary), does it only include your completed watches or also those you dropped? Thank you.
inb4 this film comes out and gets bombarded (like all of Kore-eda's films) with bad reviews and comments on this…
I also don't have a great attention span, but most of my favoured films are slow which includes Koreeda's Shoplifters (I am still in the process of exploring his other films). Indeed, slow cinema doesn't necessarily equates to being boring. Despite my bad attention span, I can still very much enjoy slow cinema because with growth, I was able to understand the importance of each frames and underlying details. I think if most people finally comprehends that cinema is not just entertainment but it is also about the directors' and writers' delicate thoughts and beliefs hiding beneath the symbolical frames and cinematography, then, perhaps most people will finally understand the greatness of slow cinema.
What bothers me more in Asian cinema is that actresses of the age of 30+ play virgins, as if there are not enough…
It's not an exaggeration, it's reality. Although, I do think that objective truth exists, this one is a matter of culture and personal perspectives. Thus, normal can also be relative. Your normal is not everybody's normal. In addition, you can't just hastily generalize the whole world into this one-dimensional sphere where it only contains one kind of specie.
Though, in another perspective, let's just say that the majority nowadays regarding most 20-30 year-olds are that they're no longer virgins and such. Wouldn't it be so great to at least show something that represent the minority? Numerous people who are not experiencing nor living the "majority standard" can experience isolation and dissociation. At least, by having to represent them on films/shows, they can see and understand that it doesn't make them any lesser; that they're also real people worthy of being seen and heard despite not being able to live up to the "majority standard".
is the plot messy and slow wanna give it a go but this is holding me back
The film is not the mainstream or usual kind. As I have observed, arthouse or unorthodox films aren't very much appreciated by users here in mydramalist.
The film does not give you complete and absolute answers, rather it gives you questions and clues. It lets you think and connect the puzzles, yourself. As much as it is a procedural crime thriller in its genre, it is more philosophically cerebral and a rumination regarding our societal condition.
If you think that you can appreciate a more arthouse kind of film, then, perhaps you should check this out.
@RdS s/he gave 1 star to almost everything except for some romance-focused dramas which s/he had given a higher rating, just like boys over flowers and dots. I don't know what to say about that.
Even the amazing leads can't save this I'm afraid. It was a good premise, and the directing and acting is fine,…
In the first place, the premise is about being human. Is being human about being all good? No. Being human is the toughest skill in life, it's not easy. The premise is also about being "lost". When you're lost which can also lead to one's dissociation to their own humanity, it's going to be an ugly and dark experience. This show is not merely about the categorization of "good person" and "bad person". This world is lost and confused enough and this show might just show that putting such expectations and rules to humans instead of showing more empathy and charity brings more harm than healing. But, it's too early to say anything anyway, as it's only been just two episodes.
i find this as a very strange plot as well. isn't it normal for people's mbti change though? because its how people…
MBTI was derived from Carl Jung's theory of Cognitive Functions. In his theory, we have four main functions: the dominant, auxiliary, tertiary, and inferior function. For example, with an INTJ, it has NiTeFiSe as its cognitive functions. Its dominant introverted intuition and extroverted thinking can easily be seen and applied to in the early days since it is its dominant and auxiliary function. But, over time, it can also develop its introverted feeling function and extroverted sensing function.
In conclusion, it is not that we can change our MBTI over time, but we are able to develop our other functions as well. An INTJ manifesting its Fi function does not automatically transform the INTJ into a feeling type. It is just that it was able to develop its other function. Though, in making important decisions and overall mode of perception, it will still prioritize its main functions: the dominant and auxiliary functions.

The reviewer discussed the symbolisms surrounding the film and its ending.
