Why?
Tried so hard to like this but as it wore one long episode after episode I felt like I was in an endurance race of mediocrity.Pat has three faces...open mouth breathing, grimacing and then my favorite...trying hard to act like he is thinking. He's a singer not an actor. Give it up kid. Or watch some GMM TV great actors for clues. Your director obviously doesn't have one. Or was saddled with you and tried to fix to no avail. Really the worst BL performance I have ever seen. And I wanted so much to like from previews.
Chot and Jeng are fine and fun to watch and good production values but so long and who cares. The lead actor is so out of his depth and even puffy lips cant save him. Jaab is stunningly handsome but a case of arrested development aided by rich spoiled kid syndrome. Think he read German philosophers to learn to act soulful and sad.
Sorry this is a waste of time. Sorry I did. You are warned.

I tried really hard to like this. But its inane and boring. Great cast wasted on a puerile script. I don't mind plot holes but this was like graveyards of open gaping plot holes. And just STUPID. No other word for it. What a waste of talent and money and my time. Just told I have to have more characters to qualify for a review. So i endured the series which I found so silly and blatantly bad. But had a Sunday with nothing to watch and thought what the hell? It was so awful and bad that I found myself laughing out loud at it. It's so bad you have to laugh. god Bless the cast for putting up with this writing. And this writer needs to be shot. At least not hired. But he did write one series several years ago that was not too bad. NEVER LET ME GO which was saved by a good cast and director. Everything else before and after is c grade crap. wish it had been better as their farewell
Ok. So just finished watching. I love watching their amazing chemistry and talents. Such true friendship and trust on screen. And the supporting cast some of the best in the biz. The director is great, but even he and all of them can't overcome a mediocre script that is two episodes too long. Sorry. Fluffy and kinda, by the end, maudlin.But its their last go round so I will take it. Going to go back and watch Vice Versa so I can remember them in their prime. Wish they had stopped at Last Twilight which is a masterpiece.

China once again sells gays as unhappy people
I started watching this series and was loving the cinematograpy, the story, the acting and direction. Really lovely and then what happens? They wrap it up with the same old Chinese homophobic ending. Faggots have to die or be unhappy or alone for the rest of their lives. Tired of hearing how China is opening up. The fact is there is a huge hunger for BL in China. And the Government is not stupid. They want to cash in on the BL market in China and internationally but don't want it to condone, defend or uphold a gay lifestyle. Yes I know everyone is supportive in the series (sort of) but utlimately its the same old ugly message. Pathetic.Was this review helpful to you?
sit back and enjoy one of the best BL's this year
The cinematography, the screenplay, the acting and directing....it doesn't get better than this. A riveting story that engages you over 12 episodes that never feel long. I have images in my head I will never forget due to their artistry. I didn't know where it was going to go but happy where it did end up. Please watch. Dark, Haunting and Mesmerizing
Wow. This is the real deal. If you are looking for GMMTV cookie cutter University fluff stay away. Incredible directing, writing, acting and cinematography. In other words its for adults. Was on the edge of my seat! Enthralling is the only word I can use to describe my time watching this series. It was perfect... just wish it was longer.The Japanese go to places in BL that no other country does. They mix violence, pain, love and loss into a kind of poetic journey that is not easy but unforgettable. This will stay with me for a long time. Check it out.

too bad
It was an interesting supernatural premise and I agree the editing and direction were sub par...almost amateurish. There isn't much chemistry between the leads and the celeb was so lackluster in his energy, dull, trite facial expressions and plodding ways it was hard to imagine him being an international celebrity. If you have hours to kill and nothing else to watch it will slowly pass the time.If you want to watch something fun, well acted, finely directed, paced with great visuals and chemistry and a supernatural element check out MARRY MY DEAD BODY. Show what you can do with talent and imagination

Sweet, Silly and a lot of fun
Okay, I guess I needed this Taiwan piece of loving. improbable fluff this weekend. It was so honest in what it is and unapologetic. Succumbed fairly quickly to it's charms. Let your brain go and let your heart open and just enjoy the ride. I am still smiling an hour after finishing watching it. oops just got told my review is too short. Couple is sweet and attracive, Grandma is a hoot and don't make any assumptions. Things change.Was this review helpful to you?

this is genius
okay. There are only a handful of BL series or films that I will never ever forget. This is one of them. The acting, the cinematography, the direction, the acting, the writing, everything. I watched it so many months ago and it still haunts me. I can't begin to describe how powerful and beautiful it is. You have to experience it. It's what BL should and could be.That being said I warn you that the end will gut you in ways you don't expect. Not dramatic but heart wrenching. Every time I see the title on World of BL or other places I tear up and move quickly on. If this is making you not want to see it, ignore me. Just warning you that you are in for something so rare and amazing and surprising.
I gave it 10's across the board but only a three for re-watching because I can't again without losing it and I don't know who could in their right mind. Maybe I can in time.
But it is a must see.

A Chinese Bromance gone bad
Okay. Just finished watching the series...which I was enjoying for the first 30 episodes. Then it went nutso. Plot suddenly out of control, weird contrivances, overly maudlin acting and then the ending. Yes the ending is what has me up in arms. Once again two men who obviously love each other can't be allowed to be together and one of them has to die! It was so 1950's shit. And if one more person says, well its so realistic I would like to take a gun to them. China getting better????Bullshit.Was this review helpful to you?
worth the watch and rewatch
Like many other folk on this page I liked this series alot. I know some found the story weak, but I think it works, especially as a sequal which rarely do. Could it have been deeper? Yes, but that would have entailed a much longer series and I think have ruined the tone of it as a whole. Plus sequels to Taiwanese BL's are not the norm so thankful it happened at all.Cast is talented, attractive, and there is certainly chemistry there.
A shout out to Shih Chih Tian for his mesmerizing performance as Yu Zhen. Portraying a man on the spectrum without judgement, sentimentality or bathos is not easy. His work is lovely and for me, the center of the film. Wish he worked in BL world more often.
This is my second time watching and I enjoyed it more than the first time. Hope you do too.

So enjoyed this series the more I watched it and find my self going back to it like comfort food. Is it briliant?hell no. Is it lovely, you bet. It's a gem. Enjoy their odd chemistry and the premise. Just was told I need more characters! Oy!It could have been deeper but this wasnt Will Smith doing an Asimov rip off about robots like in I Robot (which Asimov would have hated that film). This actually is closer to his vision.

rewatched again and even better
I enjoyed Absolute Zero and found that it stuck in my mind over time. Sort of haunted me. So I just went back a year later to rewatch and must say it is way better than a lot of folks give it credit. Slow burn? Yes, takes it's time. Confusing at times but I get tired of the silly GMMTV cookie cutter BLs in university and bodies bouncing around with over inflated libidios and tired old BL tropes. I mean how many times can we watch the falling into a kiss gimmick; smart phones that run out of power (does no one in Asia have a charger), or the evil young woman who wants to break couples up for revenge or ego? Not saying they can't be fun (but not a steady diet), please.The age difference doesn't bother me but, yes, they could have cast an actor who looked closer to the right age and a little less angsty but it still works.
While rewatcing it without having to figure out some of the intricate plotting I was able to surrender to it and it was rewarded with a greater experience and new found appreciation for what they were trying to accomplish. If you want some fluff and fun, lots out there to watch. If you want to think a bit about the nature and complexity of loving someone, take the time to view this.
