I love your beginner's guide. The surrounding text on the pictures come off as random thoughts while you're watching the drama. I hope you make some more--please make some for the funny ones.
This is actually the first time I'm encouraged and really tempted to watch a tearjerker. I only got to watch parts of 1 Liter of Tears some years before on TV and it really made my eyes well up.
Good list! I would have included Yeo Jin Gu and Joo Won if it were mine. Jin Gu is just too pitiful when he cries that you'd want to comfort him and Joo Won doesn't care how he looks when he bawls (read: he's not pretty), but what the heck it makes you feel his anguish.
I think I'll give One Fine Spring Day a try (I was kinda hoping you had a trailer though I did find this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HVl_nOl7lPI it's a cut from the movie and the only HD that has subs I've searched so far). I also think Running Wild would be interesting...

She liked the anime. I couldn't get her to watch the live action one but I'll try. She did, however, stalked Kitagawa Keiko (would you believe it!) and watched Paradise Kiss while I was busy in the kitchen today. Q___Q
This is seriously one of the best fantasy dramas I have ever seen. Kimura Manatsu's character is adorable as Yuiko--so innocent and heartwarming.
I didn't really like Kitagawa Keiko that much in Paradise Kiss so when she played Muito Ayami-sensei--with stubborn determination and so unconscious of her transformation, I got attracted!
And finally, Gackt's character was a great revelation and once the ambiguity was lifted, all I could say was 'Aah...sodeska.'
I thought the ending made perfect sense. Takashi was the assistant for about 10 years which makes you think 'Is he or isn't he?' And in Yuiko's dream, her father walked in just as the dream ended just like when the episode ended.
I totally appreciated that because it made me go back to Ayami-sensei's dream where sensei realizes that Yumenoke symbolized Akumu-chan's mother, and Dream Prince was there because he symbolized her father. So both were actually looking out for her. :)
This is sad. The only movie I got to watch on your list is Paradise Kiss and I realized most of the movies I like…
ouch! XD then I must have you recommend those movies with--you know, uhm...you know, kisses?

Joe, I'm just so grateful.
You know, this is the first time my daughter has ever joined me in a dramathon--no scratch that, it's THE OTHER WAY AROUND! For 3 straight nights when I came home from work, I find her watching earlier episodes of Akumu-chan by herself!
She was the first one to find that DC already subbed Episode 11 and when we watched it together she said that it was her THIRD TIME to watch the finale!

@Guga Medical Book: Please don't be an historical drama, I really want to watch Lee Seung Gi as a Gumiho!
It's a fusion sageuk. It relies on the genre more than the historical; te genre is fantasy and the sageuk part is usually the historical background or era to place the drama in context.

On Sulli, I'd add her to the middle ground ('meh' as you call it). Her acting was okay in TTBY but it wasn't that compelling or spectacular either.
How about Im Siwan (TMEtS, TEM, Standby), Jung Eunji and Seo In Guk?
I will be waiting for the Japanese list!
