Doesn't the main character of this series, the prince, end up dying in real life at the age of 20? Is this show…
It's a fusion sageuk so there are liberties from historical accounts. It's still a sageuk so elements like time/setting/characters are based from history but it takes on other themes like gender-bender etc into it thus the fusion.
Of course we're hoping for this "twist" because it would be a happy ending for the leads.
"However, the way that the plot is told – the storytelling – is quite unique in that the drama takes no qualms in hiding the fact that it is a fusion sageuk drama, that it is very light-hearted with just an undertone of darkness (a sageuk drama simply does not escape palace politics)."
lil bit boring, i found scarlet heart ryeo much more interesting than this. But why they loved This drama so much,…
"You like it and see a big deal in it and I respect that. Do I really understand why you see a big deal in it? no, but it is none of my business. It is simply personal taste."
I agree. And sorry if my comment came across as a "lashing out". No, I just thought it was an over-generalization. We enjoy dramas for different reasons.I like this drama for its lightness but it doesn't mean it's shallow which is implied in the previous comment. I like PBG not only because he has a killer smile but he is versatile in acting - again stated in the comment.
So again, please don't assume how one likes a drama. It is a matter of personal taste, like you said. If *one likes a drama over the other, that's fine. *One can go to that drama's thread to express *one's appreciation.
i know this is based on a web drama but there are many kdramas that kinda have the same plot as this one. Still…
Ohgawd, I have so far successfully made it to page 59 of that discussion thread LOL I haven't even introduced myself properly and I just keep on lurking. :P
Could someone please help me explaining what's up with Kim Byeong Yun from the beginning? What's his deal? What's…
Ah well, you will see more on Ep 10. I'll add: Kim Byeong Yeon's grandpa was accused of treason for feeding the poor. He doesn't want Ra On to get hurt, or more clearly, he knows that Ra On doesn't know anything so he is hesitating to tell the Crown Prince or the group of what he has found.

Oh please, don't assume how other people like this drama. I don't go around telling people how I guess they like eye candies and idols in SHR. I'm pretty sure like me there are MDLers out there who appreciate how a story rolls. Hey, if they throw in bromance, that'd be a welcome bonus!

Hello, Love!
I see you're at Ep6 so I'll be a bit careful answering your question.
Kim Byeong Yeon aka Kim Satgat is the Crown Prince's close friend and confidante. In Korean history, he's a genius scholar and a poet. In the drama, he's more like a bodyguard but also do sleuthing tasks for the Prince. He also works for a group which was connected to a rebellion ten years ago.
Caught up 'til the last few episodes. No regrets. The concept was good, the ride was exhilirant. Can't lie to myself. Enjoyed a good part of the drama. Ending could've been better. Ah but it's already wrapped up. I wish it had more time to explain the rules.
He's too cute to handle! Auggh! Those pictures with Nam Joo Hyuk--they look alike! <3 I told myself to watch Sassy Go Go and now I need to see Page Turner too!
They actually have twins. :P
Ok bye now.
