Yeah I'm really not feeling this lol. The acting is atrocious, the dialogue is cringey and cliché, and what is up with these unimaginative character introductions? At this point I'm just hoping for some sort of 18+ scene to keep me interested and I'm only at episode 2 lol. Don't think I'll finish this, unfortunately.
Watched this mainly because Nam Yeon Woo since he always has a way of choosing interesting and unconventional…
I'm thinking now.. is this meant to be some sort of commentary on the futility of life? Is the bar meant to be a microcosm of society at large? Do the characters each embody some sort of survival technique used in real life (the guy who goes to college to improve his social standing; the girl who has become jaded, deceives others, and abandons all fear and emotion; and the main character who doesn't take any responsibility?) What is the meaning of the Halloween setting? Is this some sort of morbid way of saying that Halloween, as a holiday during which death and destruction take the centre stage, lays bare the true disorder and chaos of daily life? Does this movie suggest that life is one big sardonic Halloween party? Am I reading too much into this? (most definitely lol). Watching this was some sort of hyperreal feverdream and I'm left with so many questions lol.
Watched this mainly because Nam Yeon Woo since he always has a way of choosing interesting and unconventional projects. This movie is no exception: it is definitely on the experimental side when it comes to both the characters and the storyline. I liked the camera work and the editing (def enjoyed the stereotypical noir/artsy vibes) but the sheer absurdity of this movie left me confused. I am guessing the director wanted to go into some sort of postmodern-ironic-pardody direction but I wasn't really having it. The randomness of the plot makes that I'm not completely sure what to make of the overall storyline or the overall meaning of the plot. I am still confused about the message that the director wants us to take away from the story (if anything--maybe that's the whole point).
Dang I had such high hopes for this! I really liked the show up to episode 4 when the plot went into such a disappointing direction. The whodunnit mystery just fizzled out with the servant being responsible for the death of Tian Bai, and the jealous fiancé trope has been overused in shows like this. Such an anticlimax!
I'm really surprised the comments on this show are so negative tbh! Sure, the series is not perfect (I mainly think the depiction of mental health issues as something that can be solved after a single therapy session is questionable and I would have loved to have a bit more fleshing out of the main character's history) but I truly enjoyed the plot! It's a solid show with good acting and the mystery kept me interested.
Edit: omg I just checked your profile and your watchlist is fire btw!
