I highly recommend another show called Legend of Shenli, it also did really well when it came out, but not sure if a lot of people on here have watched it since it's a Xian Xia
It's forbidden love, and the FL is a really powerful general, and ML is a god, she falls in battle, and the man freezes the seas just to find her, he finds her and has to heal her himself, which is like the coin scene lowkey, and another scene where they have to forge their souls together??? (I can't remember) but it's similar to the coin scene as well.
Not comparing these 2 dramas at all, just letting you know!
Maybe it's just me who doesn't care that he lied for so long? The bigger a lie is, the harder it is to say the truth, especially when a situation doesn't call for it; you basically have to force it out because the right time will never come, The marquis is chilling with his wife in camp. Why would he think to destroy that by revealing it? and it's just the title that changes, not himself, you know? So it's realistic how hesitant he was. Having to wait for the episodes was the only agonizing part
I also like the parts in the camp where they were husband and wife; it felt so natural as opposed to in Li'an, when they were still a little bit awkward.
Chang Yu fries me so bad, I was laughing so hard when she told the other soldier she drugged her husband. She was like, "I drugged him. May I go off to war now?" 🥺🥺🥺 ridiculously cute!
Okay can someone explain the significance of a guy telling a girl to wait for him to come back (from war) or a girl saying she'll wait for the guy's return (from war) in chinese dramas because I know it's not a simple phrase
In another drama, The Story of Minglan, the FL tells ML she'll wait for his return, and he smiled, then she said she didn't mean it that way ........
One thing I have to compliment about Zhang Linghe's acting in this is that you can feel the difference between Yan Zheng and the Marquis. He has this commanding presence even without doing much as the Marquis, so valiant even when he's not in armour, it's in his eyes, this invincible look.
But as Yan Zheng, he's so gentle, poised and regal all in one
It's such a small detail, I thought he did well, and I've never thought Zhang Linghe was good at nuanced acting beforehand
I'm re-watching the earlier episodes because I feel I watched them passively, and Chang Yu is so sweet and brave, I love her so much; she's always so selfless and continues to show up for the Marquis even though he has NOTHING. She has less but is still willing to provide for him financially and emotionally. Such a big heart.
CY blames herself as she think YZ is injured because of her. She wants to get the meat so her husband can recover…
Hmm someone said his name "JiuHeng" which means to think 9 times before taking action, maybe he has his reasons so we shall see. I don't think he ever thought she would replace him in battle

I’ve watched every ZLH since MJTY except Generation to Generation, he’s always been a familiar face that I’ve watched but I’ve never been gagged by his acting (which is fine I’m not criticizing him) but he’s getting better and better and this one I’m very drawn too as well. Especially the emotional scenes.
Yes ao many names, girl Ling Buyi had like 5 names in LLTG and it was my first cdrama so I was so confused. I get who people are but sometimes I have to come back here and check the names
This all just goes to show, that Deng Kai NEEDS MORE & BETTER ML ROLES, because any time he plays a supporting…
This is besides the point, I haven't watched Deng Kai before but this is an advantage that he has not being the ML, with chinese idol dramas they don't give ML's roles that are too complicated, Imagine ZLH playing Deng Kai's role I don't think his fans would be able to stomach it.
These more complicated characters are memorable and help hone the actors skills, I wish other actors could take on any role but they can't because they have an idol image. Look at Tan Jianci's character in Lost you forever, Xiang Liu. I don't know if he'll be able to play such an impressionable character again, but it definitely helped him hone his acting.

Chang Yu wants to take Yu Zheng's place in the army as a regular soldier, so she drugs him, but won't anyone ask where the Marquis is? Isn't he the general who leads the army? (Not all the time, but you get?)
Also, it seems like the marquis sleeps in the same room as the other soldiers. I know they mentioned the camp isn't well-equipped, but isn't that dangerous?
The episode he saved her and had to do the gua sha treatment, I legit thought he would also have to take his clothes off to share body heat since she's so cold ahhhhh
At ep 19, I feel everything has been put in place for us to see the big picture ( personally). Most characters seem to have been introduced, as well as their motives. Episode 18 gives birth to a new arc in the show. I
If you're thinking whether you should start watching or wait, I think this is the best time.
