There should be one more episode, is that right? Usually they have one concluding episode where they have a meal together. It was supposed to be released last week but they didn't and now I checked the YT channel and they didn't release it yesterday. So I'm confused whether we will get that last episode?
I'm about 1/3 into this drama but I'm already so emotionally invested T___T there is just something very quiet about this drama that tugged so hard at my heartstrings.
The drama is produced (mainly) by ViuTV but should it be a Hong Kong drama when it's set in Taiwan and its cast is mainly Taiwanese? Also, it's aired first on GTV, not on ViuTV.
This was a lot funnier than the first season! And absolutely crazy, especially the last episode. Definitely a must-watch for ERROR fans. Also it's pretty interesting to see how the Infinite OT Production Battlegroup started to create their own style from this show onwards.
He said that his parents enjoyed watching this drama. So he brought his boyfriend to his house for dinner and came out to his parents after they finished watching the last episode. His parents gave the couple their blessings and even asked them which of them is muk, which of them is tin, and how did they meet etc etc :')
While it's true that not all of the lgbt+ community will be able to get this kind of acceptance from their loved ones, I'm happy that this drama helped in a small way to change the general public's perception of the community. This is why this drama is so important to Hong Kong audience.
This romance was in the original Japanese drama, but it didn't get as much emphasis. The HK version expanded on…
I know omg! I'm so happy that they wrote proper female characters, and not writing them as merely the evil jealous bitch or the poor victim. Francesca really deserves her happy ending after all that has happened and I'm so glad it's with Louis? Because honestly he's so in love with her and isn't afraid to show it.
There's an unofficial campaign on instagram to help boost the ratings of 大叔的愛.
1. Watch the last episode on TV at 9.30 pm tomorrow 2. Post a picture on social media with the following hashtags #返屋企睇大叔结局 #我要大叔的愛電影版 @viutv
This is mainly targeting the Hong Kong audience as the weekly rating report in Hong Kong doesn't include the number of views on apps or internet platforms in their calculations. So the campaign is encouraging people in Hong Kong to watch the last episode on TV, instead of watching on ViuTV's app.
But I still think it's meaningful if the international audience can also take part to show ViuTV how popular their shows are overseas.
(Kenny Wong, the actor who plays KK, said that they are currently discussing with the company regarding the copyrights of a movie version. So the support shown on social media might be something that can help to make the movie version or sequel happen.)
I have not seen the original Japanese drama; is the Francesca/Louis love-line something that the HK writers came up with? I absolutely adore this love-line and Francesca's hesitation in starting a new relationship so soon after her divorce really grounds the story and the character itself.
Edan Lui, who played Tin, posted the sweet polaroids that Muk and Tin had taken together, with the caption "Can you give me a chance?": https://www.instagram.com/p/CRUK58vJZ8c/
「Break up」 is a thought that has been planted in his mind for some time, but he has been unable to make the decision. The expectations of Tin's family, the possibility of Ziqin and Tin, and Muk's uncertainty / insecurity about his and Tin's relationship - (because of these) Muk chooses to leave.
In Muk's heart, Tin is deserving to be loved but the one to love him, to give him happiness should not be Muk himself."
//
(As viewers, we sort of know why Muk decided to break up with Tin but we never really know the pain that Muk silently bore all these while :-( Yes, he should have talked things through with Tin and let Tin make his own decisions, instead of not trusting Tin to be matured or serious about their relationship, but maybe he loves Tin too much and doesn't want to burden Tin with such difficult decisions.)
So the ballet instructor pretended to be straight long enough to confirm he's not into women, then went back to…
My reading of the MV was that the ballet instructor was in love with the guy who came at the end of the MV but he knew that it was impossible between them (maybe he knew that the guy was straight). So he tried to forget the guy by trying to date the girl, he was at least happy when they were texting back and forth in the MV and when they went on their "date". But he realized that he couldn't forget the guy and he didn't want to continue deceiving himself (that he's gay), that's why he rejected the girl when she confessed to him. Only when he saw the guy, did his genuine smile appear because that guy is the person that he truly loves.
Feelings are complicated and messy, it's not as easy as stating whether someone is "pretending to be straight long enough to confirm he's not into women". Maybe you missed the essential points because you couldn't understand the lyrics.
first of all, i have to admit that im an apologist for this show so here's some points i wanna defend the show…
I'm not from HK but I have been watching HK dramas for many years so I totally agree with everything you've said. I have been really enjoying this drama, it's hilarious and light-hearted - a great introduction to BL/GL dramas for the general HK audience.
Same as you, I really appreciate the way the writers added local HK slangs and flavours into the drama! I've never watched the original so maybe I'm biased but I really think this drama should be appreciated on its own.
Yes, the drama has its own flaws and the pacing of the last few episodes is a little messed up but the great acting from the cast makes up for it.
Anson Lo's MV for the sub-themesong 《不可愛教主》: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=63kYZhp-FtU&ab_channel=MIRRORLook…
Anson Lo mentioned in his instagram post that this is Tin and Muk in an alternative universe ❤️❤️❤️ And if you read the lyrics, you can tell that this is what Muk feels about falling for Tin - his loneliness, him loving Tin and taking care of him even though the chances of Tin loving him back is slim
(I know https://www.viu.com/ott/sg/ releases some of their HK dramas / shows with English subs, you can try watching there?)

在阿牧心目中,阿田很值得被愛,但愛他、給予他幸福的人,不應該是自己。"

My biases in MIRROR are Ian and Anson Kong, but I really like the other members too :)

(Are you a fan of MIRROR? Because I am ^__^)
Look out for the special cameo at the end of the MV!
