This stuff doesn't bother me much (my parents themselves are ten years apart and now that they are in their late fifties/sixties it's not really a thing at all). As long as it's legal (in a sense that an adult isn't with an actual child, because it's still weird for me even if the age of consent is 16 or whatever), and it's consensual, I don't care. I'm more creeped out when characters who have been raised as family such step-siblings or when non blood related siblings/uncles & nieces (like Pinocchio) get together then I am with age gaps. Like you said, it comes down to maturity and personality, and at times a power balance. It might be an issue when, say, a younger woman is dating her older boss. But I've seen some dramas like that, and they've managed to steer away from that being a huge problem.
If the chemistry between the actors is really good it's easy to forget that age is even a thing. Like Backstreet Rookie (yes, that drama had A LOT of problems, lol), but they complemented each other so well I'd forget. He was a giant dork who would go out of his way to help people, and would do little things for her without really thinking about it. She was physically stronger then him, and could be immature, but also was forced to be mature in other ways because of things that happened to her, who sometimes had problems letting other people in. They had the same moral values even if it came out differently, lol. (The age gap is pretty much the same as Clean, but somehow she seems a lot more mature in this one).
Other thoughts: I keep forgetting Lee Jae Wook is a lot younger then he looks, I guess he's at the prefect high school to out college age range, lol.
Thank you very much for reading and commenting. I felt the same, but after a while I could see people were enjoying…
I think the hype for TKEM was from before it began, because most of the feed was meme's and photos of WDH while it was airing. I enjoyed that part more then show tbh. haha
We all have our own opinions for sure, I noticed this as I was watching the K2, too. (lol) After seeing some comments and other people thoughts on the show I honestly wondered if I was even watching the same show, because it drove me so crazy I had to stop watching it all times. I didn't hate Anna at all (her and Je Ha were the only characters I did like), I mainly saw her as someone who was limited in her options on how to fight back and really I don't know how anyone shipped Je Ha and Yoo Jin. Don't even get me started on the legality of that security agency and 'cloud 9'. I know it's seen as a 'classic' to some people but it's just a huge nope for me.
I still haven't watched Goblin yet because there just seems to be so many different opinions about this drama out there and I don't know if I even want to get into it.
But it's okay. If we all liked the same things life wouldn't be fun. :D
When will DH and YJ break up already?!The way YJ's mother humiliated him in front of her, and she didn't say anything…
I hope they break up soon, too. They are driving me crazy. lol.
I think it's the one who's still a student. The one teacher made some sort of comment about not punishing her because of her father when she showed up hung over a few episodes ago I think.
How satisfying was it, did it feel unfinished or like something was missing? I have one episode left but I hope…
I think the White Collar plot was more of if there was a "second series mystery" kind of thing so I wasn't expecting that to be resolved. But yea, I agree it wasn't a prefect ending.
Don't bring your twisted view of the world into this. If you continue to watch the show, you will see that when…
I have to agree, I don't really see the sexism or misogyny in this. I keep trying to think of something but I can't really think of anything either. The tie thing? I'd also like to add that was all her. He never asked her to do that. Also part of it is her personality, she's an extreme perfectionist (but probably doesn't realize this about herself, but she is, you can even see that in her personal life as she tries to take on all her families burdens herself) so I don't believe he's completely responsible for the tone of their relationship, sometimes he's just reacting to her, because she can be pretty intense about how seriously she takes the job and puts pressure on herself, herself. Your really have to completely stick with the drama to understand their dynamic (episode 11 explains everything). Besides correcting her pronunciation (why he does that is also explained, slight spoiler but he's not doing it to be rude, he seriously thinks he's helping). He later even points out that if there were things she didn't want to do she could have told him so. (He even tries to do things himself and she freaks out on him - again I think it goes back to her personality).
The arrogance and the way he speaks, well, that's just him, that doesn't go away. He really does have a sweet side to him, and he does respect and care for her, and I really don't think he's purposely trying to be rude all the time. I don't know if he realizes how he comes off.
He's kind of idiot in the first couple of episodes because he doesn't know why he's freaking out yet, but he'll get there. And he's really bad at understanding advice when's it given to him.
(Also OP mention the rich-boy poor girl thing.... His parents love her, they invite her over dinner all the time, his mom buys her presents all the time, and she tried to set them up in the first couple episodes, so his family doesn't care about her background at all. It's the FL sister is that is more concerned about that fact).
To make my novel short, it isn't all his fault, her personality pays a huge part of their dynamic in my opinion, and they do go back in time to fill in the gaps.
can we get a sitcom spinoff about Captain Jo Young and Jo Eun Sub's forced cohabitation please?!
I was literally just thinking that! Woo Do Hwan is killing it here. Even if they didn't have different hair, you'd be able to tell the difference between the two characters right away. I hope we get more of them.
Girl, are you seriously going to get lost in the woods just so Eun Sub can save you? (It's the winter & night, so you're being extra dumb). At least that what you're trying to do, and not something more stupid. Either way, you're being stupid. No guy is worth it. Go home.
Other than that I'm really enjoying this show. There are some serious topics, but they aren't brushing past them.
I was probably the worst at playing attention to the OST in the past, but there are a few that have stuck out:
To the Touch - Solji (Perfume). I actually liked a lot of the songs, but this one is a favorite. Like a favorite, favorite.
Wake Up & Jaywalking (Shut Up Flower Boy Band) admittedly not a huge fan of the actual drama, but love the songs.
Nobody but Me - Eric Chou (Hello Again).
I Love - Official Hige Dandism (Koi Tsuzuku yo Doko Made mo), might be a strong contender for being stuck in my head for hours after watching a new episode, lol.
I forgot where I heard this but it's stuck with me, because its so true, "A strong female character is a well written female character."
While I haven't seen any the of the dramas above, for me, I've noticed that some of my favorite ladies in dramas lately are far from perfect, they make mistakes, shit happens, they fall apart but get back up again, and they will fight for things they believe in even when people think they are crazy. One character I'm thinking of is Hae Young from Another Miss Oh. Sure she was kind of a (huge) mess, but it made me relate to her so much more.
i am only watching the first ep right now, can someone tell me if Bang Eun Ji and Gam Poong Ki will eventually…
I get those vibes from those two. It feels like its one of those things where they spend all their time running around after riches instead of love when the prefect person is in front of them the whole time. The show does explain why Poong Ki thinks like that, but I can't remember if there is a greater reason for Eun Ji's actions. I feel like it's end game based on the context and the characters actions so far, but we still have a bunch of episodes left.
The MIL from What's Wrong with Secretary Kim is also a pretty good example I think, and I remember being excited it wasn't another one of those 'hey you poor girl stay away from my rich son even though he's the one who started pursuing you first' kind of things I've already seen WAY too many times. (I just watched Meteor Garden, and omg that got old fast lol).
