I agree...but I couldn't stop laughing at how ridiculous the cliff scene was...wait a second did I say cliff? It was more like a hill. Seriously...the hill behind my house is steeper! And I can walk up and down it perfectly fine without getting hurt! lol
Yeesh...why do Taiwanese writers feel that an over-the-top ridiculous storyline with irrational females will make a better drama? I keep holding out thinking the story will turn around for the better at some point. Hmmm...23 episodes and we're only at 11....I have a feeling I'm going to be yelling at my computer screen for the remaining 12 weeks...that is of course, if I don't drop it before it finishes.
Word of advice to Lu Tian Xing/Xiau Lu -- run away as fast as you can from Le Si and Huan Huan while you still have the chance...they're absolutely nuts without a scrap of common sense.
I enjoyed the anime more than the movie...but admittedly---it's difficult to top an anime/manga. I wouldn't be so biased if I had watched the anime AFTER the movie. But then again, I wouldn't have been interested in the movie without having watched the anime first! Oh well...
Overall a decent movie...although I missed some of the more colorful characters from the anime that didn't make an appearance in the live action. But I suppose there's but so much the writers can cram into a 2 hour film without completely confusing its audience. That said, Mizushima made a great Sebastien and Gouriki did pretty well as Ciel/Kiyoharu. Hmmm....it seemed like the ending left an opening for a second Kuroshitsuji? I'd watch it if only to get more of Hiro!
I've only seen him in Time. What a trippy movie. This is why I love stalkers guides...you're introduced to great actors you may miss out on b/c there's just so many dramas/films out there...it's hard to narrow down sometimes without a little guidance. Thanks for the article!
Wow...just wow! I loved the series and it's not often I'll equally enjoy the ending. But that last scene really outdid itself. I'd love for a second season...just to see where the writers take Ango's character. Kudos to Oguri for such a fantastic job! Brilliant really.
I saw Death Bell 2 but unfortunately don't remember him...probably because the movie overall didn't leave a lasting impression. I've wanted to see Empress Ki for a while--but 51 episodes! I can barely get through 20 episode dramas without feeling the need to fast forward. Thanks for the writeup on Ji Chang Wook--it's always cool to learn about actors that fly under the radar, but are talented.
The main character was one sadistic b*%st#*rd! This movie is hard to watch...between the violence, rapes, and deaths. But there's a reason it was nominated for 12 Japan Academy Awards, winning 4 to include Best Screenplay---it's a great movie. If you can find and download, I recommend watching it.
I'm laughing at myself because it wasn't until I googled the ending to this drama that I had an "aha" moment. Needless to say...you can't take this drama literally or as one of the reviewers above mentioned...you'll miss out on alot of the clues and symbolism.
A bit on the strange side...but not too bad. Of course, I enjoy watching Odagiri in almost anything, so I'm biased. The actors did a decent job...well as good of a job as they could, being that they were dubbed (both main actors are not Chinese). It was the overall story that left me scratching my head.
The actor playing Jong Dae stole the show for me. All in all good movie, action-packed with top notch acting.…
I agree..the movie was a bit fantastical and historical accuracy wasn't a top priority....but still a good watch. The ninja ropes (lol) were actually grappling hooks. The Allied forces bombed the heck out of Pointe du Hoc, then sent Army Rangers in with grappling hooks and ladders. Of course, in the movie...it didn't look like cliffs...but I suppose that was their interpretation?
