Very reasonable questions. Hmm now that I've seen ep 9, it seems to expose the flaw of her character in a larger manner... Honestly if it is centered around Jin Woo and the game and if the writer wrote the script with this intention then it's justified as to how to place and used Hee Joo in the drama albeit using her as a love interest for Jin Woo and etc. I acknowledge the fact that she does seem to be used as a prop at this point and we are half way through the drama which has caused me drop the rating a bit :/ I hope the remaining episodes will make up for this and hopefully the writer asserts Hee Joo as an independent character

I would like to add some input on your third point about Hee Joo's incessant crying. Initially I had the same opinion as you: it's so stupid that she cried after he yelled at her like that. But eventually after evaluating the scene again, I came to understand that some people are just emotionally sensitive like Hee Joo, and when under pressure, especially when someone yells at you that harshly about your faults, you just break down. You tear up and cry because it is simply human to do so. I don't understand why so many people expected Hee Joo to be this spunky tough woman before even trying to understand her character. Otherwise, I agree with most of your commentary, however, I'm choosing to continue the drama despite its' flaws. Everyone's opinions are valid so I have no problem with that.

Thank you for saying this because it is exactly my thoughts. I usually am harsh about PSH's acting and weak female characters but in this drama and context, it completely made sense. And to those who are vying for that strong spunky female lead are honestly just not trying to understand the emotional state of Hee Joo. Btw I bet if a low profile actress was casted as the lead, there wouldn't be as much complaints...

At first I thought that too having saw PSH's previous dramas like the Heirs... but watching this drama really changed my mind on her acting skills; I think it was her emotional sensitivity that got to me and convinced me that 'huh maybe she's not so bad.' So I would give her a chance; the times she did burst into tears after being yelled at or running after the train may seem irrational to us at first but eventually I came to understand her perspective and sympathize with her character.

The romance is also developing slowly but right now, the two leads are expressing curiosity and subtle interest in one another. But the one thing I like how the writer is developing their romance is that it is logical. Rather than an abrupt falling in love thing that occurs in many other dramas, the writer is taking her time from scene to scene and dialogue to create a substantial background between the two. We are halfway through the drama but we are still in the pre-stages of the romance.

Why did I start this drama when it's ongoing.... this is absolute torture having to wait every weekend for new episodes TT

ikr ahhh I always get excited to see them interact; their scenes always provide a fresh and light air to the heavy and suspenseful drama

Just finished watching the new episodes and honestly what a drama, they really succeeded in building that slow burning romance and story

I will tell you the story development is going slow but I think the way they're going about it is suitable for the drama, not too much of a drag but enough to be understanding of why. It's a really good quality drama so far and I hardly say that for any drama that I start and it's ongoing. I would wait for all the episodes to come out then binge watch it, since it's absolute torture having to wait every weekend for new episodes to drop after watching the latest one where there's a cliffhanger TT

Nah just not a lot of good ones were released this year except for Mother and the ongoing drama Memories of the Alhambra imo

Ngl I avoided many dramas this year as I didn't find many to be even adequate dramas, Korean dramas in particular. But I've heard nothing but praise for Mr. Sunshine and My Mister so I would agree with the majority. Mother was an absolute impactful and heartwrenching drama, the acting was phenomenal. I also gotta agree again on What's Wrong With Secretary Kim? bc man that drama was really over the top and really got boring but I stuck with it bc I had started it. Mannn sameee with Encounter; I also thought it was odd that the two would kiss knowing their personal relationships outside the drama and plus it's hella boring imo, so slow

Just watched ep 7, so good this drama is great at the slow burning romance and story development is better than W. So far no large plot holes to me and their chemistry is off the charts

Ikr glad she was able to figure that out and the way the episode ended makes me think he'll give her the lens to enter the game too but that would put a lot at stake though..

Ngl I hesitated on watching the drama despite how enticing it sounded solely because of PSH and her previous acting in the Heirs but I decided to give it a chance and honestly am loving the drama. So I agree, people need to not let others' opinions cloud one's judgement about a drama

Yep same here and I usually don't fangirl over looks when it comes to watching dramas but Hyun Bin is always referenced in other dramas that I wanted to see what was all the fuss about but now I see lmao

Definitely agree with everything you said; PSH is not one of my favorite actresses and ngl I was gonna avoid this drama bc of her but luckily I saw a clip of ep 5? and I knew straight away I needed to watch it and I did all 6 episodes and currently impatiently waiting for the next two to come out in a day TT ;;

my favorite part is the definitely the romance development; god it's so natural and not at all rushed except for the last scene in ep 6 where she was crying after running after the train like what....
