No, you were not alone at all. Yes, had she just been a little older and mature. She was childish younger than her years. Had they started with her as more adult and deciding I like this man and I'm going after him, then maybe it would've "felt" differently kind of like A Gentleman's Dignity (didn't like that relationship either but understood it).
