On And the Winner Is Love Jun 21, 2020
I wasn’t able to connect with this drama like some of you here. The wuxia aspect was weak. The Hu Ge version of Condor heroes is the prime example of how characters should develop their super powers. However, the Lotus technique here is a major dud. I was not excited for the lead to master it.

Romance seems to be the main reason why most people enjoy this drama. Wasn’t great for me. I was personally turned off after the 1000th time she calls for “Tou Gege”. Possibly because I’m a guy, I feel this is appropriate when a 13 year old girl calls out to her older brother. Hearing Yukee repeatedly use this makes me cringe. Not a problem for non-Chinese speakers, I guess.

Also, I wasn’t a fan of all the talking that lead to nowhere.

This was an average drama for me. Wasn’t hooked or disappointed ( ahem* twin flower legend).

iQiyi lost $1,4bn usd in 2019 and 2020 may be worse because advertising is really bad. VIPs pay to watch so they…
Seems like a consolidation of the industry is underway if a giant like iQiyi isn't profitable.

LOL - I am not a fan of the fan either... It is just so signature Ouyang Feng I just never want the MLs to use…
lol back in the days with no on-demand streaming. Watching the latest dramas were frustrating as we'd have to go the video rental place. I remember only 4 episodes (2 VHS tapes, 2 episodes each) were released weekly so we'd have to go beat other people to it before they were all gone. We're so spoiled now.

No I haven’t. For me, the Richie version had an epic cast. I was also a kid back then so it left a good impression.

I enjoyed the Richie Ren version. I could definitely see Leo in that role.

I love this drama for similar reasons as yours - no air head girls chasing after men after conveniently fallen…
Indeed. Tired of naive females falling madly in love and becoming immediately convinced the man is going to be the father her child simply because he accidentally touched her hands. Exaggerating but not very far from the truth. :)

And he fans himself in inappropriate situations like fight scenes for no reason, sharing an affectionate moment with Xue Zhi in episode 19 where he awkwardly boomerangs the fan around himself, and in other random situations. Yes, nobody should even attempt to replicate the Western Poison's look!

Super simple plot, but very addicting. I couldn't get enough of the positive vibes from the show..oh..and I'm hungry now.

Great start after 8 episodes. Plot is well written. The sensible pace to the ML and FL development is refreshing after watching a few consecutive dramas where the FL unconvincingly falls head over heels in love with the ML.

My only problem is that the villainous Captain Shen seems way too smart. It took him 3 seconds to effortlessly deduce that Qing Ci is the "dead" son of the Duke without even investigating. Could have been plenty of other valid explanations like another illegit son, daughter's secret boyfriend....etc.

Not bad at all... some gigantic plot holes... like why reacquiring a defense map still matters after the enemy…
Just watched up to Ep 8. I believe the defense map needs to be studied closely to decipher the details. If you look at the map again, it appears to be a drawing of nature. Furthermore, the map didn't actually make it to the hands of the enemy country.

On Ep 33. Mu Yuan is by far my favorite character. Actor does a great job subtly exhibiting the pain of being in an unrequited love situation. His affection towards Xuezhi was tenable since they grew up together. The way he professed his love and handled her rejection was pristine class.

Tou should stop opening his Kung Fu fan so often. It's a little annoying.

This drama should be light and funny according to the trailer and synopsis but I'm on episode 6 and all it managed…
Thanks for this. Was debating to get into or not but I'm not a fan of outwardly stupid comedy. Can't China make comedy more subtle? Why do the female leads have to exaggerate their "cuteness"? Too many of those.

It isn't even that bad, the script and acting actually cracked me up. Let's just not talk about Arthur's acting....…
I think they blew their battle scene budget in the first fight scene. After that, everything was lazy.

Glad I wasnt the only one. I thought I missed the part where feelings had developed. It was so random and abrupt. Maybe directors cut a bunch of scenes?

Also feel a lot of earlier FB and MJ scenes were cut too. I don’t believe writers were that lazy about the two leads’ love arc. MJ was super in love with FB after a weak buildup to their love story; a connection we normally see after a couple has gone through thick and thin - sort of like purple eyed dude and MJ. Those two had a way better relationship from audience perspective.

Warning: more rant while posing as an expert in critiquing.

I found there are a lot of unnecessary plots that added zero value to the overall story.

- Song Ming Lei's love for Mu Jin. Created too much clutter to the already complex storytelling.
- The irrelevant twin brother and the hidden palace. Would've been a cleaner plot if it were a love triangle between Fei Bai and the sisters.
- Jing Xiu's and Fei Yan's "incident". Unlike Xiao Long Nu incident in Condo Heroes, where it significantly drove the story, I felt the use of the "indecent act" (sorry trying to be as PG as possible in my words) in this drama played no significant role. Song Ming Lei could've felt indebted to Fei Yan simply by her going through hell to save him. Jing Xiu's incident was just....stupid. The perpetrator could've used poison or other forms of blackmail to attempt to control her.
- The entire plot of the "fated six" who was supposed to help Duke Yuan rule the world. You'd think the Six would be collectively working together to rid the world of tyranny and restore peace. Instead, we get this hot mess. Everyone misunderstanding each other, trying to kill each other, breaking each other's hearts. Why was Bi Ying (3rd sister) part of this group?? What was her role in Duke Yuan's rise to power?

Seriously, they should've focused the budget on 30 to 40 episodes of quality film making rather than this long and unfulfilling version we have here.

come on now, cut Mu Jin a break. As the synopsis pointed out: She uses the techniques inherited from her father…
yeah, I call fei bai the "cheating" deadbeat boyfriend because he had exchanged affectionate words with the sister before posing as his bro. That misunderstanding hasn't been corrected yet (as of 41) so he's still perceived as he played both sisters.

He's deadbeat because he can't even finance his own army and needs Mu Jin's help.

Anyways, this show has irritated me so much for some reason that I'm being irrationally unfair. Just need to vent =)

Once again, Mu Jin shows how utterly useless her character is. Hahaha...Poor Snow/Yuan Fei Bai... How many times…
come on now, cut Mu Jin a break. As the synopsis pointed out: She uses the techniques inherited from her father and relies on her intelligence to help the Yuan Family rise to glory. The Yuan family can bask in all the glory now that their laundry system has been REVOLUTIONIZED.

She also became the world's richest person so she could use her wealth to finance her "cheating" deadbeat boyfriend whom she hasn't seen in years.

So like I've been trying to keep watching this it had an okay start I can tell they didn't have a big budget but…
Well said. Duke Yuan's order to kill FL for a trivial reason runs contrary to the premise of the entire story.
