Is this easy to follow from the start? I dropped Nirvana in fire due to it being way too complicated at the beginning.
I hope you went back to watch NIF. It is possibly the top 5 shows of all time. But I agree that it can get complicated and you really need to give it 100% of your attention. The story is simply amazing.
I don't rely on the subtitles and I find mixing a Taiwanese actress into a Chinese drama with no dubbing is somewhat awkward because of the different accents.
True. I don't why I am still addicted to this drama, even with all the ridiculous misunderstandings.
I don't think anyone would disagree he has a reason to feel the way he does. I would argue though that the writer made the ML look pathetic by reacting rashly, immaturely, and intentionally hurtful towards the FL without even pondering for a second if the FL had reason for her actions.
Keep in mind they just got married, albeit unofficially, and consummated their marriage. Despite this, he automatically doubts her and does not even attempt to seek an explanation. (Unless I missed the part where he asked her why - I fast forwarded a few episodes).
And when they're finally face-to-face, the ML accuses her of a million things and the FL simply stands there offering no explanation.

and it's not just the misunderstandings that irritate me, the ML's reaction is just plain childish and idiotic. Not sure what the writer is thinking. Is he intentionally making us hate the ML/FL relationship?
I usually watch bl in my TV in HD. LolMy husband understand my hobbies even before we got married. He understand…
I feel your husband is missing out on some quality moments with you by not watching BL dramas together. And when the scene does induce a cringe reflex, at least you're there to comfort him lol.
I initially dropped this but I wanted to give it a second chance. I fast forwarded 30 episodes and the entire plot still had not progressed.
Actors in this show are a miscast of epic proportions. The villains are horrible. It feels like they grabbed random dudes off the street and asked them to act. Peter Shen is cool, but he's got the same face in every situation. Olivia Wang: not very convincing as the most beautiful woman in the nation. I have no words to describe the crown prince....
CGI is horrific. They blended real scenery with CGI. Usually that's not a problem, but if you pay your CGI team minimum wage, you get minimum results. They tried to hide the imperfections by using coloring effects. It looks like a 1990's drama as a result.
The action sequences are a joke. During battles, you could obviously see the unprofessional editing. They barely used any wires for the kungfu scenes so they rely on camera action. Need the character to soar? No problem! Get the stuntman to do a flip over the camera. Need intense fight scenes? Fast forward to make it look like people are moving at superhuman speed.

Editing was sub par.
Bad acting from villains.
Costumes are horrendous.
