Honestly, I loved this despite the heavy political intrigue (which is really not my go-to genre). The Leads had such an incredible bond, even as “frenemies”, that I was quickly addicted to the drama. Amidst all the endless scheming & betrayals, they remained steadfast to one another as well as their duty to the crown. And I was there for every minute!

I love watching Leads like this. Both are super wise, loyal, & honorable. They’re amazing on their own, but dynamite together. I enjoyed watching them beat the 3 toxic baddies at their own games over & over! I like that both Leads had strengths & weaknesses, but neither used those against each other. They were a team who quickly went from tentative trust to full-blown I’d-die-for-you allies. The actor’s had great on-screen chemistry that sucked me in despite all the political ick.

And I really love how quickly the “issue” that arose between them was resolved & never lead to a breakup. Dramas don’t have to have that annoying trope all the time so I was super happy that the writer(s) skipped that plot line!

Bonus - their bond with the child emperor is absolutely adorbs!! 😍
