I'm sorry if you're living in this world: "if a WOMAN is stuck in a train and shes the only female and the rest are all guys. she'd be scared as fuck. because she knows shes in danger."

"but if a WOMAN is stuck in a train and shes the only female and the rest are all guys. she'd be scared as fuck. because she knows shes in danger."
What?! She knows she's in danger?! Because she's the only woman she's in greater danger?!
So... if there's really a creepy guy in there or more, then the other guys are creepy as well? Everyone or none?
And if there's more than just 1 woman... in the case of creeps, this is safer?
How?
Because the other women in there are more likely to help in case of an attacker, more likely to call the (often male) police? Whereas all the other guys in there are going to join attacking the woman?
If no one helps, the situation makes no difference either :D
So what's so special about this situation?
And... you shouldn't always feel so safe as 1 guy in a pack of women. They could be creepy as well, especially if you're not the strongest guy and they're really creepy ;)
This show changes a lot as it approaches episodes 10-12 :) but I liked the ones before too, maybe with the exceptions of 1-2 episodes which were a bit slower.
Quite interesting, changing love stories as well.
The female lead needs a lot of saving in the first quarter of the show, didn't like that too much, but it seems that this is only temporary and makes the following parts even more powerful.
How much I have no idea yet, but what happened a bit later on was quite impressive!
I think the acting of the most important leads is really good, markedly better than in Ice fantasy and other "guilty pleasure" type shows.
I'm glad I didn't stop.
The story takes turns and also gets more and more interesting...
5 episodes in and this girl has been shoved down a mine shaft, drugged and kidnapped, and then poisoned and a…
I think the damsels might be done for by episode 11 ;)
Just watched a quite powerful scene in there which looked like she was the last person who ever needed to be saved again :D she's not the same anymore :)
I hope this won't take a step back, but doesn't look like it :)
This takes a bit of getting used to and lots of suspension of disbelief but so far the story is fun to follow,…
:D I hope you're wrong, but I fear otherwise :D
It would be cool to get them together... kinda like a Romeo&Juliet... both from the other sides ;)
That's also true haha
This takes a bit of getting used to and lots of suspension of disbelief but so far the story is fun to follow,…
Totally agree! But after watching the latest 2 episodes, I got the feeling he might have an additional agenda too...
About the mermaid, I initially thought she might be one of the reasons he seemed not to even think of Yan Da in that way. It looked like he likes the idea to marry this mermaid.
Yan Da + Shi would be the best part of this guilty pleasure show for me :D
It's funny how these shows still manage to make you get involved a bit even though they're bad.

that's true :D
But also the mermaid princess (who I find relatively annoying). I got the feeling Shi likes her too much, although I'm not sure about his feelings, maybe it's something else (power?)... atm he isn't an open book for me.
(Ep. 21) Just like what we thought, Shi is Fire King's son. But how coukd he do Ice Tribe's magic? Anyone knows?
would like to know that too... maybe it's not even quite true.... I'd like to see another twist in this also because of Shi x Yan Da, my favorite couple in this ;)

Haha I agree with all of what you said! And I also ship Shi x Yan Da (didn't think about the possible incest factor yet at all, but you're right, hopefully there'll be a twist that makes it still possible). They're the most interesting couple :)
uhmm on episode 26 and jesus christ I need to get this off my chest. Everything is good with the storyline and…
She has a bit of screen time, but she grows! She doesn't stay annoying until the end ;) Also, she's not an "evil" person. Depending how you tick, you might even be able to relate a little. I never hated her, but yes there were times she was quite annoying.
Hoping the demon dude goes through some sort of transformation somewhere along in the series because that haircut…
His nose is something else too :D
He doesn't quite fit the beautiful female lead.
Also is the haircut any better of the other male lead?! I must say I find it disgusting. Looks similar as the one of his mother :D
Thanks for the detailed review and so much of background information!
I'm mostly watching this because I want to see a powerful female leader defying traditional gender roles.
I don't know how it is in Chinese dramas specifically, but looking at what's on tv, I get the impression that it's still more difficult today in many societies to portray really cruel women as leads in mainstream.
Our narrow, sexist picture of women, who are mostly seen as weak and innocent beings and rather victims than perpetrators, makes this harder to swallow for the masses I believe.
When you speak of Fan Bing Bing as a feminist, do you know of/can you recommend some of her other works that might be empowering for women?
Thanks for the review!
I'm currently at episode 8.
It's hard to stop watching, the story line is thrilling.
I'd like to know more about what you said about not speaking Chinese or being mostly uneducated in Chinese royalty history as a watcher.
I know a lot gets lost in translation unfortunately, but are the subtitles especially lacking in your opinion?
This drama is very long, so I don't know how complicated it will get, but so far it didn't seem too complex to me to follow.
This however doesn't mean anything, as I might not be aware of things I'm missing.
Could you elaborate a little bit more please?
It would be a pity, I like this drama a whole lot so far and I can't wait to see her grow in power.
Just watched episode 19.
This drama is knocking me off my feet :D
The very strong female lead portrayed by Lin Ruby, who's also creator and producing the show, is one of the best I've ever seen.
The highest production values, the story line keeps you on the edge of your seat, the characters have lots of depth, the romance is very cute, this really has everything and Li Hua is my HEROINE!!!

Beautiful people and scenery!
Can't wait for the next one to be subbed!
