I thought Consort Shu was the birth mother. And yes, she does look very young.
Sorry @Unaspenser but you’ve got it wrong. @Vi Dao, you’re right. Consort Shu is his birth mother. Su was taken from Consort Shu after giving birth to him for the Empress to keep and adopt as it’s the custom since the Empress didn’t have any sons. But when the Imperial Astrologist predicted he’s born under the bad luck sign, the Emperor listened to their advises and sent Su to the Temple to ease his bad luck sign but as Su grow up, he accidentally knock over the candle which at the same time coincidentally killed the Empress and somehow Duke An’s mother (which Su doesn’t know about and the Emperor denied this connection) confirming Su’s bad luck stars so the Emperor sent Su to the border as punishment. Having said this, Consort Shu may be too young to be his mother to some people, but let’s look at this logically and closely. Knowing the Chinese traditions (as well as normal medieval traditions/customs practically around the world), women in these eras get marry and give birth at the average age of 12-15yo (16-18 is the late stage and 19+yo is considered way too old to be in the market). Prince Su is supposedly 22yo in the drama so 22+15=37. Consort Shu looks around her 30’s and the actress herself is actually in reality exactly 37yo. So it’s actually not that young nor that old to criticise the production team to pick the wrong actress for that role in this drama.
Am I the only one who doesn’t like the ML kicking the FL’s ass (literally) against the chair like that straight after learning she’s pregnant with his child? I’m sorry writers and producers but that’s abuse right there and not everybody would think it’s funny. They seriously should have taken that part out - it’s a big turn off for me already. I’m struggling to continue with this drama. Hope it’s good as other reviewers said it is...
Can someone clarify something for me. Is Prince Su the crown prince?
@Nora, so far in the drama we don’t know who is the Crown Prince yet. The Emperor apparently has 3 sons: Prince Cheng (the evil guy), Prince Huai (younger brother of Prince Su) and Prince Su himself.
so far there is no scene of him dreaming except for ep 15 right when he was drugged. a bit hard to follow about…
@snt1 I agree with you. The producers and editing team made it so choppy which makes it hard for the audience to really follow. A big turn off and if they are going to turn the ending like the Legend of Yun Xi or with some chopping and dodgy ending with some modern reincarnation like rumours has it, I’m going to flip the table.
I assume she’s 17/18.Prince Su said he knocked over the candle and sent to border at age 12, which was 10 years…
Good point. So it’s safe to say that she’s 17yo then and either way she's definitely a teenager in this drama. It’s no wonder the writers tried to paint her immature and impulsive on ep 19-20 (which brings in a lot of critics) even though she’s smart by nature but they want to depict the fact that she's limited in her perspectives/experiences and has so much to learn/develop character-wise.
I assume she’s 17/18. Prince Su said he knocked over the candle and sent to border at age 12, which was 10 years ago. So he’s 22yo. That year Prince An met Fu Rong and at that time her younger brother wasn’t born yet. Fu Xuan is younger than Prince Su and said to be a couple of years older or so than Fu Rong. Fu Rong mentioned that after her brother was born Liu RuYi became her master and she has been her master for 10 years.
Looks like XJ's dream scenes were cut in episode 24??
Yep they did but left the part out that was being discussed between the two leads and the part he talked to her while she’s asleep. I wonder where can we find the cut scenes from... can’t find it on YouTube :(
OMG IF YOU GUYS THOUGHT EPISODE 21 AND 22 WERE FLUFFY JUST WATCH TODAY'S EPISODES!!!! Also I have a bad feeling…
I agree. They only post up previews of ep25-28 and left ep29&30 out on purpose. My tissues are not ready. I’m not ready. Feels like L&R anticipations/anxiety all over again!! >_<
Confiscate the sweets and then gift it to someone else to feed their horse..... buahahahahahahaaaa!!!
“I’m also aching somewhere else, do you know where?” “Where?” “My heart is also aching.” **Two guys at the back** “Darrrghh! He’s doing alright, he’s fine.” LOOOOL
I'm surprised Kiki from The9 is doing well with her role so far; smart and feisty.
Kiki was in the same casting team (supporting actress) as the two leads in their Legend Of YunXi. That’s why the Fu sisterhood relationship in this drama is so natural and flowing.
Episode 21 & 22 will please those waiting to see more interactions between otp including 2 not so passionate kisses.…
Well, imo we have to see things from the character’s POV rather than our own POV. Meeting with Prince An, to the FL it was like: “How come you can have another wife but I cannot see my old friend?” We, as the audience, knew this isn’t the case and that there’s another ulterior motive behind Prince An’s intentions in his friendship with the FL since Prince An admits to our FL’s Sifu that he’s in love with her (that’s why we feel angry for our ML and annoyed at our FL) - but FR doesn’t know this. Remember, Prince An is nothing to FR but a simple friend. So to the FL meeting with Prince An isn’t cheating and she sees that meeting as if seeing a friend during her trouble times (she’s conflicted with her husband taking on another wife) to clear her mind, which to her isn’t anything wrong.
With accusing ML of not trusting her, it was the ML that question her trust towards their relationship on their wedding night first- she didn’t ask this type of question first, he did. “Why don’t you trust me? Why are you so cruel?” Remember these words of his to her? So to her, him questioning their trust towards their relationship back like that seems very hypocritical because HE should be the one that should know how it felt to be wrongly accused in their relationship. THAT WAS WHY our ML didn’t reply back to her when she accused him back like that in ep22, because he finally knew better, and so he changed the topic of their conversation after that at that night.
