I plan to watch these drama eventually mainly because of my love for Dylan since he doesn't do a lot dramas anymore and I don't care if it's simple drama kind of drama or the big age gap, but my god these coments about age gaps seriously people if you don't like older man/younger woman dramas with big age gaps just don't watch it if you see the tag and move on, why the constant comments about how they are "uncomfortable" and that he looks like dad, seriously? like her dad? because he is 46?, they talking as if Dylan had dad- bod, bald and full of wrinkles with white hair, Dylan looks great in his 40's. What a bunch of oversensitive asian drama viewers are today (not just with age gaps), age gaps make you uncomfortable? which of course it only a problem when the man is a lot older specially when they don't know the actor, but noona romances are beloved, yes some criticize older woman/younger man dramas but they don't get as much hate as older male leads in dramas get, if you like the drama and chemistry is good age gaps don't matter specially when it's only in real life and not that important to the story.
Tiffany Tang for example has received hate comments for being older than Liu Xue Yi, even though she is only older…
Not a problem? haven't you read the comments here or on many other dramas where the actor is a lot older (even if just like 8-10 years) they say it's creepy, call them dads/old uncles and comments on the actors looks if they don't find the actors good looking according to them or not don't look baby-faced/less manly in order to make them feel safe while watching I guess, althought these coments seems to come mostly from people who haven't the drama yet or before it airs is so they haven't watch the chemistry even yet or just don't know the actor so just avoid it while still commenting.
To those curious about these version before the Thai version comes out please be sure to know this one is more dramatic and angsty than Korean version which to me look more like a manga with cute guys and a dumb/weak FL. This version would always be better written and acted in my opinion even if it's older, also even with the ending I never feel sad about it since the two leads went on to married in real life and now have a son, so it certainly help when I finished the drama to know they started dating after the sequel was filmed when first saw it many years ago. That and the weird happy ending in the sequel help a bit too though the drama it's not great at all and it's not really worth the watch except some scenes.
Wow, finally after 8 years! I wonder if they cut any scenes since C-dramas are so heavily censored today compare to 2016 and it's rare for the C-drama to have this number of episodes air at once.
I saw all of these back in the early 2010's liked/loved 6 of 7 though for whaever reason I never like My Love Sam Soon, I disliked both leads for some reason I like jerky male leads but not these one I guess, till these day Hyun bin does nothing for me, though I do like the actress. As for the so-called "problematic" aspecs of these dramas by todays standards I don't don't care, not then, not now, dramas are a fantasy world for me I don't get my morals and life lessons from them, I just want to be entertained, get some great chemistry and get all the feels and excitement from watching, the happy feelings, the funny moments to the sadness, anger or annoyance at the story and characters. I can watch and loved something in fiction but that doesn't mean I approved of it in real life. I've been rewatching some 2006 dramas which I loved lately and catching up on some lesser know from 2000's ones since these days K-dramas are not making feel like watching for various reasons.
So happy for this casting , I like Shawn, his age appropiate to Shishi, looks like grown up/stronger looks not baby faced or skinny like so many C-actors today and like Shishi he's already married in real life too, so no dumb shipping comments or wars, perfect.
He ends up with Hwang Jung Eum's character is just not show on screen in the last episode but their characters will meet in the USA with their child as I remenber.
For me pre-2016 K-dramas were so much better, I felt more emotinally connected to them and I prefer female/male characters in those too, rom-coms, family dramas, melodramas/makjangs or historicals so much good stuff, regardless if a drama was very popular/have high ratings or not and to me it doesn't matter if something looks "low buget" is just nowadays preople have gotten to used to dramas looking shiny, beautiful and perfect and doesn't mean dramas are great or better. Long historical dramas or weekend family dramas pretty much don't exist anymore only KBS makes them now. I cannot comment to much on 2017-2020 ones because only seen a few of those but I notice after the 2020's things had really gone downhill, Netflix and some Cable produced dramas have just ruined it for me.
As for other countries I prefer older ones too but it depends, pre-2010's J-dramas are so much better, China in my opinion got better in the 2010's but the censorship it's gotten so much worse in the 2020's. I seen older C-dramas were there is no way they would get approved today and all that mess about not knowing when a drama it's coming, years and years can go by waiting for it to get the check to air and if ANYBODY in a drama get's into a scandal that is seen as negative by the C-goverment that's it for any of their works.
Classic dramas the new fans should watch The Legend of the Condor Heroes, Chinese Paladin Season 3, The Vigilantes in Masks, Scarlet Heart, Xuan-Yuan Sword: Scar of Sky, Sound of the Desert, The Imperial Doctress all good dramas with A-list casts.
Still not happy about the rating going low, these drama should be at least 8.9 like before or a 9 like when it first stopped airing, how come other C-dramas have stayed 9.0? I guess people just don't the patience when watching the drama so drop it and gave low rating, very slow start yes but I like that it was slow mostly (second half was a bit more fast?) but I felt being slow-paced we get to know the characters better and I like how things felt more realistic in many aspecs. However people dropping it because they like the SML lead better (mostly it seem like people just didn't like FSF for whatever reason) and wanted Minglan with him, makes no sense to me, they were clearly not paying attention why the SML was wrong for her and the whole complaint about why did the ML have a girlfriend and two kids from pretty much the start before Minglan also makes no sense to me, he was older than her and plus with his personality and his own traumas it make perfect sense to me why that was part of the story, but still some drop it because of it and didn't bother to see what was going to happened with the part of the plot and instead they made assumptions. I wish I could watch it again like it was new but I remember so much of it.
When if she going to have a new project? I specially waiting for her to work with more older male A-listers, the last time was in 2014 with KDW or since her Chinese projects with Kaneshiro Takeshi and Huang Xiao Ming in 2015, miss Takeshi too he hasn't done any projects in years.
I hope new fans and her old real ones just continue to concentrate on her past and new dramas and don't pay any attention to any toxic talk or fake rumors/stories about her husband and their marriage, don't engaged with these people in the comments ( I had to block a few already) they are now coming here to spread negativity just to talk crap about her husband who they continue to disliked for dumb reasons. It's been over ten years since she and Nicky have been together and yes he is 17 years older than her get over it, Shishi is a smart, grown/mature woman (like when she first start dating him) and she doesn't need these so-called fans and their opinions based on assumptions and fake news and negative "wishes" for her personal life. I hope Shishi and Nicky continue to stay together, happily and in private like they always have and prove the haters wrong, us fans just continue to enjoy her perfomances and talk about her many great dramas, real fans should wish her happiness with the person she's chosen to be with and for their son.
Okay, I really need to watch more of her later dramas next year before FS Matchmaker, I really excited about that one.
There goes another life gone because of the stupid S.Korean society standards and how quickly they just judge and bully for anything they consider a "scandal". The fact so many koreans young or old commit suicide for almost anything, I don't care if he cheated (it's a issue between him and his wife) or he did drugs (thought it looks like he was trick into taking them), the way they treat celebrities specially or any public figure that does not go by perfect korean standard. I hate it everytime when K-netizens called anybody who has used drugs and obviously has a problem of addiction or may not, like if they smoke pot a few times, they right away call them druggies and they are the most horrible people who's careers should end forever, does SK even have drug/alcohol rehab centers? because from what I've have been able to read they do not, oh but Koreans love to drink till they pass out and that's not a problem to them. This is not a problem of "cancel culture", this Korean society problem, they are the only ones that can change it and start educating themselves about so many topics on larger scale but chose not to, they have done some tiny changes from what I've seen, but mostly they are the same, they keep killing themselves and reproducing less, sad, Korean dramas/music have giving so many nice feelings and entertained me for so long and yet they seem to such sad and pathetic culture at times.
I also wondered if there anybody there for him, any friends? all they just stay away cause they didn't want it to be associated with him, since Koreans love to also drag and bullied anybody that is close to the person involved in scandal at least if it's know publicly, anyway I'm still in shock. RIP Ahjusshi.
Very good actress, why did she have a hiatus from 2020-2023?
She had a son in early 2019, she actually came back to filming later that year but the pandemic hit in early 2020 so no filming for a few months, then filmed another drama in the summer that year, both moderns dramas came out in late 2020 but with modest sucess, after that she took about a year a half off. She came back to filming with AJTL in 2022, it looks like she simply was waiting for a good script but she never stop working she was always doing some sort of activity just not acting plus she was raising her son. I honesly don't understand why so many of her fans in China keep assuming things about her family life as if she was stuck at home raising her son 24/7 for 4 years being forced by her husband or in laws, C-netizens are so toxic and had always hate on her husband simply because he's a lot older than her. Shishi has never been the type to chase popularity so she likes to keep her life at ease and in private and filming dramas only when she feels like it, specially since getting married, she's a A list actress not one of those popular/idol stars, but it seems people forget that. This is however her comeback to custume dramas since 2017, so happy for her latest drama success and getting new fans because of it.
Sorry but she's way more accomplished than Bai Lu.... Her nickname in China is δΈε§/#1 Sister (her labelmate…
Just rumors that had continue to appear on the last couple of years despite been seeing holdings hands when he came to visiting her while filming AJTL and also came to see on her last drama, celebrating her birthday together earlier this year and both wearing their weddings rings, specially Nicky who never seems to take his off, Shishi sometimes takes her off usually when she's doing like some work activity, they were even seeing by fan spending time together with their son a few days ago but the rumors continue. I even read a paparazzi saying they are not gettting a divorce or secretly divorce a few moths ago but some people still insist, probally because so many C-celebrities around Shi Shi's age had ended up getting divorce since 2019 and they just want to spread negativity since they are some of the few that still married though many of those that got divorce were shutgun weddings and theirs wasn't. Shi Shi and Nicky had been seen a lot less publicly lately more than the usual but they always been very private though and they don't mention each other on social media either but they rarely have in the past and again people are acting as all these is new, Shi Shi has been very busy since she returned to work last year so that could be another reason that been less spotting of them together but why people assume these means divorce right away, anyway I hope is not true, I don't believe in the rumors though it is true they had not been protograph together like before but still, they been together for 10 years now and hope they continue married life happy and in private like they always have.
Too bad there not a proper good quality version with subs, the one that is out there it's a not great quality version from Singapore channel? with eng subs but not great audio and has the episodes edited into 122 episodes of 40-50 m. instead of the 167 30m. per episode. Still a pretty enjoyable daily, it stays mostly funny with some melo and cliches thrown in but overall a light watch with no super evil characters, not annoying/bitchy SFL trying to get the ML, the rich sister and mother were annoying in the beggining they get better as the story goes on but were fun to watch too, not rushed happy ending, everything ended properly.
One of the few dramas were the couple stays true to each other from beggining to end, no dumb break ups, I kept wondering when a separation it was going to happen since is a very long drama and well many other dramas do it but it never came and I was glad. Nice but not boring/flat male lead (not a creep like the comment below says I don't know what was that?) I like the FL, I know the she can be a bit annoying sometimes for some people specially in the beggining but I like that as the drama progresses we can see her growth (it takes sometime and many tears though) and wanted to find something to do professionally besides being a supportive wife. However got to understand this is a drama from 2007, so any stereotypes about her being mix Vietname/Korean, growing up poor, not knowing much about modern Korea lifestyle and some of her comments about herself better be left alone, sadly a lot Koreans still have very outdated views about A LOT of things even today and obviously the writer reflects that in 2007 specially. I still love it though minus the supporting couples didn't care for them though I did like them as characters, I just didn't care for their love lives, but the main family was nice and supportive specially the FL's In-Laws.
As for other countries I prefer older ones too but it depends, pre-2010's J-dramas are so much better, China in my opinion got better in the 2010's but the censorship it's gotten so much worse in the 2020's.
