The only way I'm believing this cast if it's one those chinese dramas that have coming out lately were there is many different stories with various well known actors but each gets a like 2-3 episodes, so not actually acting together or it's just yet another fake c-drama casting news.
Iβm Struggling with this. the actors are so old! itβs difficult to immerse in the drama because these middle…
So for the age of the actors it was my understanding that not all are suppose to be the same age, so if Minglan is 15-16 in the beggining of the drama the male lead and or her brother for example are actually like 8-10 years older, they are not all teenagers just because they are in the same class and the story it's going to expand for the next 10 years or so, they are not going to stay that young for the whole story. Does it get better? well it depends, for me it was great from the beginning and it got even better/more exciting after episodes 20? and this is were some people who found it to boring in the beginning say it got better for them. The first episodes show very little of Minglan because it more about showing her family life, specially he father's troubles with his wives and what she grew up seeing around her including how she sees her father/man and this would be important for how she's later is her own life, friendships and marriage. For me the number of episodes was very worth it and I want even more, it very slowpaced on the first 15 episodes and it tested my patience sometimes but so glad I didn't skip anything it would have the same if I didn't pay attention to the details and I don't think fast pacing would work for this kind of story but once the story focuses more on Minglan and the ML is more interesting/entertaining to watch this is around episode 20.
As for me Minglan I like that she's kind of quiet/introvert even if it was to protect herself at first but I like she was always smart compare to all those loud, noisy over cutesy/dumb FLs in C-dramas and for what attracts men to her well, the ML doesn't love her yet and the SML likes her but doesn't seem to really known her that well, as the story goes this would become more obvious but in the begining it seems like is just more like a crush on nice/pretty girl, I actually thought the SML was so boring/ bland and weak wonder why does Minglan like him on the first episodes but I guess it was like it was for him. Later Minglan would start to have more moments with ML and this is when she starts to show more true herself to him and be more open than she is with others because she feels more relax with him even she isn't aware of it for quite sometime. I really love this story so for me it pretty much perfect from the start but I can understand why some people find it boring in the beginning.
Watching this yet again, this drama has become one of my comfort dramas, even when I don't watch from beggining to end I still like to watch my favorite scenes randomly. I don't think any other historical drama can never do this to me, some might come close but never top it, plus it has one of the best male leads ever.
The C-version is still better in every way, this is deeper, more mature and better acted, the FL is specially better. I felt more attached to the charcaters also and I just like that is more serious and not fluff, modern idol/eye candy . This version still the original and iconic and nothing it's going to change that for me, but of kind of annoying how many people come here just to say the Korean version is better, which I'm sure it's usually for the same reasons which I often read in other places too, reasons like they didn't like the actors's looks, seriously?.
I say just watch this version for Nicky and Shishi's scenes together specially on the second half , skip everything else until the the very confusing but happy ending. Their chemistry is the only thing that kept me watching and I wanted to see a happy ending not matter what. I wish FL wouldn't had spend so much of the drama crying, love Shishi but her crying when she was one of the characters got annoying, her twin acting was not bad at all actually, but the story was just not good, I blame the writer/director they could have done so much better with this sequel, it was nice seeing the two leads doing romantic scenes in modern clothes though, they looked great.
78 or 73 episodes? Why I can't find ep 74 till 78?
It's the same drama, the only difference with the 78 eps. it's that when it aired in China a few episodes had different time durations, the 73 ep version are 40-45 min. while TV version had few episodes that were only like 25m. I think because of the high ratings in China the network just extended the drama that way towards the end but it's all the same otherwise.
It says 78 episodes but on viki it has 73 episodes, can someone explain please?
It's the same content, the only difference it's that when it aired in China a few episodes had different time durations, the 73 ep version are 40-45 min. while TV version had few episodes that were only like 25m. I think because of the high ratings in China the network just extended the drama that way towards the end but it's all the same otherwise, so in Viki it's the correct version and it has the better subtitles too.
Yes! it's back to Viki I miss watching it there and it was only gone for like 3 months and so now going to watch yet again, never thought I'll loved a historical drama this much.
This drama still has one of my favorite lead's chemistry and happy endings, that proposal scene and the way they look at each other through the whole drama is just amazing, the two leads really looked in love and recommend to look for the uncensored/cut scenes from their first kiss and bed scene since they are longer and edit differently, I wish they haven't cut them but maybe they thought it wouldn't pass the censors, I mean it's not that explicit really but they show more deep kissing. This still this writer best romance drama, her later dramas are just too cheesy/cringe for me.
So reading many of the early comments on different places including here on MDL it's clearly that a lot people are not fans of SHK's acting , that's fine you don't have to like her but people are alreaday making assumptions about this or that when the drama hasn't even been released yet not even a proper confirm sypnosis (some early sypnosis are often wrong/misleading) , then people paying so much attention to tags, I just don't undestand. If you don't like SHK fine just don't watch the drama, why are they even in here just to say they are not going to watch it because of her? what for?, if I don't like a actor I just ignored their dramas that's it, why bother commenting. The endless comments about how this going to be noona romance, where doesn it say it's going to be, again just people making assumptions because of age gap in real life and even if there is romance it's only 8 episodes it would probaly be something very mild and it's clearly not going to be the focus and saying she acts with younger man all the time, what? that's just her last two prejects and I don't think DOTS should count it was only 4 year gap. Also can't people stop putting so much attention to tags, sometimes they are are misleading I think and it's specialy annoying when so many tags are add before the drama even airs, I add tags but usually for older dramas and when it's something specific , but some tags are just plain useless, unless in this drama the fact that the FL it's a lot older than the ML it's extremely important to the story why added it, it doesn't matter if SHK it's older in real life if it's not part of the story. Finally, people calling the drama plot dumb or this sounds horrible, how can the FL do this? again people let's watch it first and I actually heard of similar revenge stories before so this is not K-writers crossing the line or the writer just writing pure dumb plot, it's fiction anyways and I want to be entertained, we don't how the story it's going to unfold, let's see how it goes and then we can all comment if we thought it was good or not and agree to dissagree... hopefully, okay wrote way too much but it's just all these comments in diffrent websites are so irritating.
I looking foward to this and those who don't like SHK don't watch or be open minded specially in case you only see her previous drama, I don't think it's enough to judge her acting on a badly written drama. I didn't like NWBU or DOTS either for various reasons, but I'm still her fan, I now she can do better acting and choose better projects and I know I'm the only one who thinks this, her previous drama was just such bore for me and kind wish she hadn't done it at all, but at the same time it's looks like she had a good time filming and got some new good friends out of her co-stars, so even if the drama flop at least there is that.
Just rewatched a few days ago for I don't know what number of time but I just love it even more than I did before I don't know why maybe because I forgotten some details or had skip them without noticing but I just saw things I haven't noticed before and those details make me love it even more. Ariel Lin does the best version of the FL, she just make laugh and did not annoy me mostly unlike in the other versions were FL's were way too cutesy/childlike for my taste and Joe is also the best version of the ML, to began with he wasn't as robotic like the ML in other versions. Overall just enjoyable rom-com/family drama and will always be in my favorite list which just give a warm feeling along with it's sequel which it's even better.
So I finally give it a proper watch after dropping while it was airing because I couldn't stand the FL however this time this FL version grew on me a bit enough to continue and I wasn't always thrilled about the ML acting and the way his character was this version, but I guess my curiosity for this version make me continue. The Taiwanese version still my favorite adaptation though, but this one comes second I guess, then maybe the original J version from '96. I didn't rated too high because I loved the TW-version too much and there so many things I prefer in that version over this one along with the second season but this was nice watch nonetheless, the Korean version still the worst adaptation for me.
who's asking for your opinion, it's their life they will do whatever they want.
What's wrong with giving my opinion?, I didn't attack the actor or SHK, I already said I suppport her choice as an actress because I'm a fan and I know how she has wanted to do a different genre for so long and SHK has already said she feels very nervous/anxious about this new project, so I hoping this a successful drama for everybody and hoping it's something different for her as an actress and adds more success to her already iconic career.
Iβm just curious - what do you have against noona romances? Are you also against romances between an older man…
I just not a fan of the genre in dramas, in real ife that's another thing people can date whoever they like as long they over 18-20, nothing wrong with age gaps in dramas or real life, is just my preference and I prefer when the leads are closer in age or the ML is older, again is my preference in dramas. Nothing wrong with actreses being older than the actor in real life either as long is not part of the drama for me that's all, some my favorite dramas have older actress/younger actor in real life but in the drama is not part of the story.
I understand fans complaining about SHK's latest male leads, since she hasn't acted with anyone her age since 2013-2014 drama/films and we'll like to see her act with other same age/older A-list actors again, but it looks like these drama might not have romance, at least I hope, not a fan of noona romances. As fan SHK I know how long she has waited to act in a thriller drama, so I want to support her choice, specially since I dislike DOTS and dropped Encounter, never been a fan of the main actors so I really hope is just a great thriller/revenge drama.
People freaking out about the age gap and the possible romance, when nothing in this drama says romance, it's a thriller/revenge drama with only 8 episodes, so i doubt there is room for any loveline and doesn't the actor have an older woman romance drama coming up?, so maybe with this one is different. I'm still dissapointed that they cast a much younger new actor and was hoping for someone her age to be her leading man maybe another A lister but it looks like these drama in center around the FL, at least I hope so, I don't want anymore noona romances for SHK.
