Two of my favorites Liu Shishi and Zhao Liying became moms this year and other famous C-actresses also became moms for the first time as well, so that was very nice unlike most the negativity coming from K-ent. No surprise about Song-Song Couple divorce, I always felt something was off there from the beginning.
I barely saw anything new Korean in 2019 I either drop them or wasn't impressed, it was mostly Thai or Chinese and older dramas that I saw. With Korean dramas there is too many noona romances and over-hyped dramas these days, I tend to dislike both. I still have many save on my PTW from last year so hopefully I will enjoy those less popular/lowered rated ones and comeback to K-Dramas in 2020.
Why is the rating so low? Is it because people who think the love story is creepy and father/son going after the same girl is wrong and just dropped it or don't bother to even watch it, let me say I didn't find nothing creppy or wrong, I like the way to story was told. The FL doesn't fall for a 70 year old but the person the ML became in his 30's and ML/SML fighting about FL in the begging was actually kind of funny at times, the SML gives up early on and the FL only like the ML from the beginning so no dragging love triangle here. Is a very enjoyable/easy watch, with comedy, very cute romance, heartfelt bromance and moments, good acting by both leads and charming ML, loved SHK he's great like always.
Don't pay too much attention to some of negatives comments, watch it and make up you own mind, the writing wasn't always the best but just a drama to enjoy and not think too much. I did skip a lot of the business talk and bad family members scenes though and some with SML because he annoyed me in the beginning . I like the ending, it was better than I though it was going to be, I was preparing myself for sadness but there wasn't, could have been better but to me it was happy still.
The 1993 is better, too many changes in the story and mostly bad changes. I really wanted to like it more, but it went downhill after the first few episodes.
Well I guess here we go again with people freaking out about the age gap and the "he could be her dad" or they look like siblings comments, seriously they are just acting and people with big age gaps do fall in love, yes 20 years is a big gap but it's not creepy or weird at all unless someone is underage, come on people!
Honestly I prefer the male leads being older whether is by 2 or 20 years, not a fan of noona romances or flower boys and I don't mind the actresses being older than the actor in real life like 2-5 older as long as the characters are not supposed to be older in the story, specially when the male leads looked like teenage boys. I'm looking forward to this one, love Jerry and miss him and like Shen Yue.
If you love the cast enough you will love this. I skimmed everything because I wanted to watch ZYL. If you can…
This is a slow-paced story and long drama so it takes time for things to get going, the first few episodes concentrate mainly on Ming Lan's dad wife/concubine problems, her sisters and the ML family troubles, there is not a lot scenes with the female lead and barely any interaction with the main leads at first but that changes around 15+ episodes, then the focus changes more on the main leads, the male lead's growth and pacing gets better. I personally loved the pacing (not too slow or too fast) and didn't skip anything and I don't think any scenes should be skip personally but I know the first handful of episodes can be a hard for some people, it was bit hard for me too on the first 10 episodes since there is a lot dialogue and more focus on FL's other family members but I never found the story or characters boring or dull at all except maybe the SML he was too nice/naive for me, but he gets better.
There is a bit of everything in here family drama, comedy, some action, some politics, romance, great friendships, many smart/strong female characters and nice/strong/intelligent main F/M leads. There is barely any CGI in the whole drama so I never had a problem with it. I loved the way story was told and wanted even more episodes, 73 episodes was not enough.
About the poster, I don't see nothing wrong with it because it shows the male lead's sense of humor in the drama and it was taken from their wedding scene anyway, so I don't see nothing wrong with it. I think is shows how their characters were on their wedding day scenes, they were both really happy, specially the male lead, the poster in here before this one was a bit misleading actually, not this one.
Hi. If u remember could u tell me who ends up with who please. I've been looking for spoilers about the pairing…
Park Shin Hye and Joo Sang Wook characters are the main couple, so they ended up together. From the main family, the oldest son ends up with his co-worker and middle son ends up with Lee Min Jung's character.
I still can't get over this drama, is just so amazing. I love the pacing, the complex characters, the drama, the comedy, the action, the politics, the friendships, the two leads intelligence and scheming. The last few episodes and the ending were perfect for me. I love that the romance took time too and once the OTP got together their chemistry was so wonderful and how comfortable they look, maybe because the actors were already dating at that time, also I generally find the SML annoying in most dramas, so I was happy he doesn't get much screen time after the two leads get together.
I'm still love re-watching so many scenes, which has never happened to me with a C-Drama but specially a historical drama from any country.
This drama is just the normal 50 episode family weekend drama not daily, they are just dividing the episodes in two like they doing with all k-dramas now, which I don't like because now people are going to think is a a super long daily drama and avoid watching it. I 'm watching it , it's been a long time since a saw a new family weekend drama.
I think it could be a mistake though and the number of episodes be the normal 50 but I don't know yet, other websites said is 50, not 100.
Scarlet Heart without a doubt is my favorite and the fact that Nicky Wu and Lui Shi Shi ended falling in love for real and now are married makes me love it even more, they are such cute couple. Love Shi Shi, I need to catch up on more of her older dramas. I don't understand why people always say the princes in the original version of SC are not good-looking, I actually read comments from some people calling some of the princes ugly, to me they were all handsome in different ways and manly looking, not pretty flower boys. It's so annoying sometimes reading comments about people who dropped the drama or complain mainly because they though the 4th prince was not good-looking and/or too old, Nicky was 39-40 years then and I think 8th Prince Kevin Cheng even older than him, also these people had clearly never seen Nicky or the actors in modern clothes. I didn't mind the half bald heads either since I knew that just what man look then, plus I seen it in some films so it wasn't weird at all but apparently that's another reason why some people also dropped the drama.
General and I, I wanted to like it , but I just couldn't, for some reason I didn't like Angelababy's character and didn't care for the love story either, I skipped a lot and only finished it because of the second leads, way to long at 62 episodes too.
I really looking forward to watching this version, I really like the 1999 version but my favorite is real original version from 1985 which a found on You Tube randomly while searching for other shows, so surprised there was earlier version. Even though it had no subs and image quality was bad I still enjoy it very much and since I had all ready seen the newer version it wasn't that hard to follow the story for me, there were many pretty much exactly scenes but also many differences which I like better. The two leads had more scenes together, it felt like they spend more time together and had more skinship than in the later version too. 99 version is nice, but I though the leads spend little time together, I wanted more so I'm glad I found the 80's version, too bad that version is not on this website, so i can rated it. I really want to watch this version once is finished and see the differences and how much they follow previous versions, I love both older versions for different reasons so I want to see this one too. I haven't watch a single Lakorn from after 2009 though, still catching with older ones slowly, which so far I prefer, so this one might be my first current one.
I loved him in Pure Love, thank goodness I was able to save all the episodes when I was still member of a website were I could download tons of dramas with good quality. He was so adorable and funny in that sitcom and I really enjoy his love story in it too, but only the first 20 eps were subbed by someone and I had to watch the rest just understanding some of it, but I still love it. I really need to watch some of this dramas and films soon, too bad I drop a few of this because I didn't like the story and knew he was just a supporting a character. Thanks for the article.
the reviews and ratings on Naver movie is so bad for this movie... well now waiting to c if its that bad
That not the reason the film flop in Korea though, a lot of R-rated Korean films are totally different from dramas, they have a lot of nudity and incredibly explicit sex scenes, some films have even been well received and got a lot awards. The reason Koreans didn't like the film is because it was badly written and hard to understand according to the critics, not because of the sex scene, many A-list or well known Korean actors and some actresses had done explicit sex scenes on film, so it's not because of the sex scene. It seems like the only people shocked by the sex scene were international viewers, I haven't seen the film but i saw the leak sex scene and I wasn't shocked at all, I seen those kinds of scenes in other Korean films that are even way more explicit, so i'm sure Koreans were not shocked by it either.
Why do they put dramas that are not really family dramas in that category. In Korea Family Dramas are always 50+ep weekend or 100+ep daily dramas like 2013's Ugly Alert, Five Children or Blow Breeze. I loved Marriage Contract but that dramas in NOT a family drama, is it just because the female lead had a daughter and the male lead's family was a big part of the story, that people think it belongs to that category?, MC is just a melodrama or romance drama. I think there needs to be another category for dramas like MC or Reply 1988, like short family dramas or something it really annoys me when this happens because I love Family Dramas and most of titles in that category are not FD. I haven't seen Dear My Friends or One More Happy Ending yet but I'm pretty sure they are not a family dramas. Ojakgyo Brothers, Bluebird House, What Happens to My Family?, Heaven's Promise or the current The Gentlemen of Wolgyesu Tailor Shop are a family dramas.
Why do so many people keep saying the two had fallen in love to fast and had already broke up too soon, they haven't fallen in love yet in my opinion. This is two people who just met, developed an attraction for each other, they flirted and did what most people do in real life which is to go out on a date and later when they realized they have different ideologies, they decided not to go any further before they become too emotionally involved, which makes sense to me. I think the problem is that they keep playing all those love songs and putting the slow motion given the impression as if the two are already deep in love. I usually disliked love at first sight stories, but I don't think this is one, which why I think I'm really enjoy it so far, most k drama fans are just not used to this kind of story I think, where two people simple decided to go out first without any fighting, misunderstanding, then start to fall in love or big confession in the middle of the drama and I usually prefer those stories too but in this drama I'm really liking the more realistic approach, maybe because I love the two leads.
I love this drama so much, I want to re-watch it before the remake but I don't think I can go trough all the sad scenes all over again, at least the two leads ended up falling in real life and are now married and they are adorable together.
I loved this drama very much when I saw on TV on 2011 and everybody got a happy ending well except one character but I didn't care for him and he wasn't a very important character I think, though I like the actor in other dramas. My OTP was beautiful and their chemistry was great, at times the drama and some characters make me very upset but still loved it. I actually dislike two of the young female leads in the beginning but by the end of the drama I had come to like them, I did find the role of the little daughter/gran-daughter a little annoying though. Any family drama that makes me cry, laugh and even makes a bit upset at times and with at least one strong OTP even if it's not the main one since family dramas usually have like 4 or 5 couples, those are my favorites. Also this drama has one the most complete endings I seen in a family drama for all the couples, proposals, weddings, honeymoon, pregnancies, couple's future children and none of the elders dies unlike other family dramas I seen, the ending didn't felt rush at all or like there was something missing in my opinion. Just watched it again recently and I still loved it, it's not a perfect drama, others family dramas I seen are better written I think but for some reason this still one of my top favorites, maybe is because of my OTP's story who I believe was the main OTP and I also came to loved the whole main family as well. Too bad most international k-drama fans avoid long family dramas and usually are very low rated in this website. I guess they think all are too dramatic or boring because of the elders and some can be but others are so good and moving and with wonderful stories and cute/funny couples. Oh well, loving this drama still after five years.
