Title The Inner Eye Spoiler
So let me get this...XY get a little bit of money and her first thought is to go buy Coco Chanel bag, oh and make…
Well you were a lot smarter than I was regarding XY's red flags. Unluckily the story line will be going back to her and her ex-husband very soon. Ugh.

I am still trying to piece together the KJ deal. He put his transfer to Beijing on hold to wait on TYY's response. She gives it to him and says lets make it work and somehow that's not good enough? I don't get it. Was he was hoping she'd say no so he could leave cleanly? And since when has he been indecisive about something? He knows himself, he could have given her an answer on the spot. He cares about her feelings more than his own, and he knows she doesn't want to wait for an answer so his character would have responded. Insecurities aside, he put his ex's feelings first and he would put TYY's first and give her a response so what is going on.

Oh a side note: how incredible was that, that TYY shook off all her mentor's talk about KJ not belonging at the firm. That would have taken a lot of emotional strength not to feel pressure there to let him go, but instead she faces it head on with KJ.

How do we know? Because it feels, we have seen such scenes before! Just like we know that in a murder mystery,…
Appreciate your extra insight. That all makes a lot of sense. Thank you for taking the time to write those extra thoughts as it helped me have peace with the scene! <3

valid point about us having seen similar situations before. it just sounded like a farewell speech from my opinion, so i would have written a bit of concern on the FL's face. it was painfully obvious she was saying goodbye.

Episode 4 spoilers: Ok the FL is best friends with the 15th princess and has known her since childhood and is a smart investigator, but SOMEHOW she doesn't realise her best friend is about to jump off the platform after going up to give a dance for the emperor. Even when she started speaking , we as the entire audience knew she was going to jump and SOMEHOW the intelligent FL isn't worried at all until she jumps. Yikes.

were the leads dubbed?
yeah, the leads are dubbed. instantly recognised the female dubber from the first word she spoke as she's used the same cutesy voice for Feng Jiu (FL) in 'Eternal Love of Dream".

If you go to the 'actors' page on MDL and scroll down, there is a section 'Voice Actors' both the leads have a voice actor for their character.

atp i don’t even care about the case anymore, it’s getting ridiculous 😂 there are barely any courtroom…
haha the cases are very "unique" thats for sure. it's a "difficulty in relationships" drama with mentioning the law a few times lololol

that's insightful regarding the thoughts on the KJ and TYY relationship. I liked how you mentioned that she jumped into the relationship with Fang Wei'An without hesitation, but here has been a lot more reserved. I just find it strange how KJ asked her if she has feelings for him and she said she needed to think about it, rather than just saying yes but she has to work out some things. in ep 23 she says of course I have feelings for you, i wouldn't play with your feelings like that, like she needed 3 episodes to say that, when she already knew before. I have really loved how they built the relationship through the 20 episodes, but the talk in ep 23 and the pull back from Kang Jun since then is insane and doesn't make sense to me.

It just hits different when mature adults fall in love, are lovey dovey, kissy kissy...it's just a different kind…
absolutely agree its a beautiful thing to see mature adults in love.

you were a lot more lenient to the professor saga than I was. nice thoughts about it not being a legitimate case.

PeiLin is honestly more capable than both KJ and TYY. She's great and absolutely is the appropriate person to be the director of the firm. PeiLin is my favourite character outside our girl, Bai Tong.

What you just said about KJ and TYY...like WTF is the writer thinking 🤔 🙄 😒 It doesn't make any sense…
haha no they are just drawing it out. they will stay together. but to "prolong it" they made him now the one delaying them finally being a couple. maybe i missed some important details in the conversation, so feel free to provide some insight once you watch the episode.

episodes 22 and 23... kind of a weird case with a woman not wanting to do a DNA test on the child for her husband, and it leading to the dissolution of the marriage. I get it, that it was more about the lack of communication between the couple (him talking to her about his concerns rather than doing things secretly) but I don't know, show becoming a bit too preachy again. The big push of this story line was the pregnant lady's right to not get the test, her rights as a person. While it is true, strange to make 2 episodes of a "law" drama about it. It was only slightly more interesting than the strict professor saga from the previous episodes (and those episodes were very weak).

Weird shift in relationship between the leads. KJ was considering staying at the law firm if TYY had feelings for him, and in episode 23 she says "yes I do have feelings for you" and "go do your thing if you want to work in Beijing, we can still make it work". Then she asks him "do you want to be together?" - and he says NOTHING. I really don't understand what on earth what crap the writers are trying to pull. He got what he wanted. She wants to be with him, and doesn't mind him focusing on his career in another city and he's like now... "oh im not sure and have to think about it". ARGHKHKHDDlKJ Ratings falling to 7.7? Send it to 7.5 immediately lol

Just finished episode 19 and the birthday flashback was heartbreaking. What I'm sensing is that TYY is just waking…
mmm! i never thought about what Wei'An wanted from TYY but that makes a lot of sense. Yes I think the washcloth was a turning point in her trust for KJ.

I really don't think the writers would dare not have them together at the end. I don't want any of this long-distance crap, they 100% need to be partners at the law firm AND in a solid relationship. We have had to bear with some less than ideal story telling in the show - so they need to deliver on this relationship! haha

I was wrong about Xiao Yun - she did everything the right way with the client and bought the bag with a negotiated pay increase. She hasn't lost her integrity and is committed to being a good lawyer.

Anyone else notice how TYY is now teasing KJ in episode 20? She brings up his eye bags and insists he take her eye cream. Over the BBQ she jokes he's not old but rather he's tender inside... and all of these things agitates him.. haha this girl is fully in control of him and he's like a puppy. Her affection has now reached the teasing/playful stage.

Totally accurate regarding Beyond the Bar being a far better legal drama. Also fair points about The Inner Eye.

At the end of episode 19 TYY in the english subs it says 'take whatever you want from me' but what she says in Mandarin is 'Lái dōu láile' which means "since we are here..." (with an implied end of sentence: we may as well do this). For me it's a significance difference in meaning, as the original Mandarin conveys an apethetic attitude while the English subs conveys that TYY is giving up on herself. Thought it would be useful to mention in case anyone found the English subtitle strange for that part.

eating out of noodle cups and her electricity to her unit turned off because she doesn't have enough money to pay her bills (aunt takes all her money from work). She stopped being PeiLin's apprentice because she needed more money but Peilin told her she won't give her additional cases. LXY's aunt tried to marry her off to a guy with brain damage so LXY could repay the debt to her aunt. LXY instead made the mother of that guy with brain damage a client and demanded money in cash for the case.

In the previews LXY has gone and reported the money from the client came in as cash (to Kang Jun) but is now somehow living lavishly buying back her Gucci bag (or a new one). It's likely she reported only some of the money she received. I think she's gone full rogue and her integrity as a lawyer is gone, it's now all about the money.

any romance in this drama ?
Yes, but only really starts between the leads at episode 16. Until then the FL has a different boyfriend. And the romance aspect is probably only 5 minutes of a 45 min episode, so it's quite small of a romance component.

NBB is a good person and noone can convince me otherwise. The mere fact that she chose to murder and self exit…
All valid points. I think it was a really decent part of society to explore and I think it was well covered. The grandpa saying he knew about the abuse and everyone in the town knew about it but they were all bystanders. The grandpa admits they too were responsible for allowing it to continue. Absolutely agree that the law failed her like you said, but unfortunately there was not a safe haven provided by her family and friends either, as they enabled the husband to continue and escalate the abuse by feigning ignorance of it.

I saw previews and LXY is going to show us her true colours soon (I'm hoping she leaves the firm hahaha).

Episode 19 was soooo good for all the moments between the ML and FL. Can't wait to see people's reactions on the hotel scene.

Honestly a bit spoiled from episode 19 because episodes 20 and 21 became an absolute snooze fest with nearly the entire focus on flashbacks of a student's life (a case). This episodes had Xiao Yue as lead lawyer, and my word is he the most unqualified of them all. On multiple occasions he emotionally blurts out his protest to anything that is said that he finds unfair and even verbally goes after the lady who put a lot of pressure on the student. For the first time in the series my hand was hovering over the 2x button, eagerly wanting this story line to be over. It wasn't even a case, and there was literally flash back for over 10 minutes how a guy and a girl student got together. Stooppp... zzzzzzz I blame Fang Wei'An for bringing this two episode deviation to existence (client referral was from him haha).

loved your thoughts <3
haha.. Fussy Lu looks so much like Kang Jun I can't even!

I watched Dating in the Kitchen a few years ago and hated the brother (and what he did) soo much that it ruined the series for me, but last year I revisited the drama and Lin Yushen in certain scenes was *chef's kiss* so much that i bumped my rating from a 6.5 to an 8.5. Those moments between the leads with the theme song... my word, got me in the feels each time. His character in Dating in the Kitchen was definitely more life-like and unique. I feel that in The Inner Eye the FL is showing she is more diverse of an actor than he is, but that being said, everything he brings to the table in this show I still love, and am so happy I get to see him in another "decent" drama. I personally think he is the most handsome man in C-drama land so naturally the eye-candy factor is also a thing for me! haha

I LOVED the hospital scene. It was truly unexpected. and the flashing lights from the assistant's torch LOL imo that actually made him ruining the moment OK.

Slight episode 19 spoilers:

You know, it’s rare that I’m made aware of how good a female actor is but Xin Zhi Lei (Tang YingYing) has really put so much art into crafting a character, fully-fledged like a real person. Yes, of course the director and script have a great influence on how a character is portrayed to an audience, but it feels like Xin Zhi Lei read the script and spent a lot of time thinking about how she would be in that character’s shoes. In episode 19, the 3rd time she says “what do you mean I don’t love myself!” it’s said louder with such emotion that just really cuts through all the trashy moments of the show.

On the other side, I really give credit to the writers as well. In episode 19 when Peilin uses the idiomatic expression to ‘not kill if you don’t bury’ (be responsible for your actions). Tang Yingying says “I don’t kill and I don’t bury!” and leaves the room (hiding her true thoughts). At the end of the episode, Tang YingYing reference that conversation (which Kang Jun heard) and but now says “I’ll kill when I want to kill, and bury when I want to bury” – which shows us the audience she is letting Kang Jun see more of her hidden-self. Very, very impressed with the subtle developments in the relationship the show conveys.
