I can't speak for gay men as I am not one, but I do know quite a few who watch and enjoy BLs. I agree with some of your points, I just also disagree with others and will have to leave it at that since I don't want this to become an argument (genuinely, not passive aggressively)
I 1000% agree that the creepy fetishization is unwelcome and I'm aware a lot of BL fans make it extremely weird. But a lot of the series ARE made by queer men (for example the creator of Only Friends tweeted about how he's sick of straight women trying to tell him how he can express his sexuality bc so many say that the sexuality is inherently fetishized). That being said, I'm sure much of the content is very much so based on a feminized window and may not be relatable for many MLM just as the issues arise for WLW. My point is, hatred from either BL fans or GL fans to one another shouldn't be a thing because both are queer and should be celebrated together. I myself am not a BL fan or a GL fan, I just like queer media and BL is more accessible at this point in time (hoping this show does well to get the ball rolling on more WLW shows though!)
I love this guy so much he's such a joy to see in shows (also his super cute face to buffness ratio is great) and I love how artistic he is! His art is lovely and I also really like his pottery content on IG. I'm so excited to see him in another show
I watched this like over a year ago but oh my god do I have nothing but fond memories for this show it's so stupid…
Connor's line "I know we like some bad bitches but Moira's just a bitch bro." ??? He's telling no lies idc Moira deserved jail time and not a redemption "arc" she literally kidnapped a dog, tried to commit murder, and then secretly filmed and released the guys having sex 💀 actual felon.
Anyways i so love Connor going "Make way for the FUCKING alpha!" and "It smells like FUCKING rejects"" like hello that's so funny why'd he put his entire chest into it every time he said fuck
Like I said it's been over a year but I still fully remember whatever Connor said idc I know he's a piece of garbage person and I absolutely love him
I watched this like over a year ago but oh my god do I have nothing but fond memories for this show it's so stupid and awful I love it. Especially the terrible green screen drive thru and the insane amount of dogs with variations of the same name and GOD I can't leave out Connor aka the best character to ever exist (alongside Miss Becky)
Anyways based off these reviews and comments it's reminding me of My Day so it just might be camp as hell and I might have to watch it when I'm ready to shed a few braincells
Frame has done a great job cause I can NOT stand Zee but I absolutely adore Sprite. Also, I love Sam and Thun…
I am hella annoyed by the prolonged switch though like Sprite ily but you're dumb af. Zee is a major asshole so how is Sprite showing up 3 days a week supposed to do anything but destroy all of First's trust?? Like imagine your bf suddenly is an asshole all but 3 days of the week? Nah. I don't like how much back and forth there is between First and Sprite being on good terms but tbh I can't blame First cause Sprite is hiding a very important secret from him.
Also, those girls need to drink some respect women juice cause when the stuff with Salmon circulated and everyone was being an asshole to her and the girls said "serves her right" I was so disappointed. Girls who hate a girl who dates a guy but are fine with him dating another guy are extremely shitty.
Anyways, that aside I'm obsessed with this show and hope they stick the landing cause I'm so tired of bad endings ruining good shows 😭
Frame has done a great job cause I can NOT stand Zee but I absolutely adore Sprite. Also, I love Sam and Thun so so much 😭 both are such sweethearts and the second they met I was so excited. I didn't like this at first (probably bc Zee) but once the switch happened I got invested. Specifically in First and Sprite, I'm absolutely obsessed with them they're so cute and the tension is subtle but strong. I'm sad I binged it all and will now have to wait for more episodes :"") (tbf it was easy to binge bc I put it in 2x speed whenever Zee was there or when boring stuff was happening lol)
I'M GONNA CRY IM SO HAPPY. I HOPE THIS ISN'T A FOLLOW UP PRANK 😭 Seriously I was genuinely devastated when people were saying it won't happen but seeing that there's hope has given me a second chance at life (this is my favorite webtoon, I'm not being overdramatic)
Something that genuinely made my jaw drop was the reveal of Brother Anaruk being the one armed man. Because I…
Also!!! The special effects for this are incredible??? Like, they did a fantastic job it looked really good. It never (or almost maybe I missed something) looked cheesy or cheap. It was fantastic. And again, the acting!! I want more of this so badly :"") especially Fluke and Singto, they pulled these roles off great and I'd love to see them act together again
Something that genuinely made my jaw drop was the reveal of Brother Anaruk being the one armed man. Because I went back and yeah, the entire time he never used that left arm and I just didn't see it. That's the best type of twist, one that was in plain sight the entire time. I just thought he was very formal and composed with how he carried himself but no, that arm was clearly fake, even the hand was visibly fake so that's craazyyy and really well done
Incredible writing, fantastic acting, super neat ideas and I love the cast. I just am disappointed by the ending…
I don't need everything spelled out and understand not everything needs an explanation, BUT! I do think more info would be nice for a few things.
1) Why did Dan fuck the Shadow 😭 2) No seriously what was that all about, especially considering the ending kinda makes it seem like the shadow is somehow his father to some degree??? Not like the man we saw was the shadow, but like Dan was somehow related to the shadow bc it was what caused him to be born. 3) Was it just a psychotic break or did he get shot as a child? I was really expecting more to that cause his mom was freaking out but she was saying "he's still alive he's still alive" as if trying to convince herself... So did she imagine shooting him? 4) Why did gagaoolala tell me this was a romance 😭 there was plenty of gay but no romance, just some one-sided love that I really wished could have been fulfilled (Dan and Nai, not Trin and the teacher!)
There were more questions, but those were the most pressing. In the end I just feel bad for Nai. He deserves a happy ending or at least proper closure 😭 His character was great and I love Fluke so much. He pulled this role off super well, I love how he is kind and gentle but very strong. His strength didn't manifest outwardly for awhile, but putting up with everything he did takes so much strength.
God, this show was a rollercoaster and I think part of why I have so much to say in a critical way is because it's SUCH a good show that these flaws just are a bummer because it could have been near perfect. One more episode I think could have done it. Or just a little extension on the final even, idk. I don't like when they think their viewers are stupid and have to explain everything, but some of that stuff genuinely went unanswered so it's just :// Overall amazing fantastic show, I went in expecting a total tragedy but honestly I think I could've cooked with that better than having Trin coming back as Dan and poor Nai having to think he has his friend/man he loved come back only for it to not be him. I would love a second season, but that's almost a 0% chance of happening I'm sure :"")
