sukji (bar girl) remaining a side character that absolutely no one (including mr i trust nobody i am a big bad cop) has connected to the case is so funny to me because she is only person we can place on the rooftop with yunji (or maybe the floor below with seolah?). six episodes and no one is saying anything. it's making me feel like i hallucinated the whole thing 😭

the psychopath bit makes so much sense. his facial expressions look exaggerated, like he practiced them in a mirror and doesn't know how they would look normally (this is about the character, not the actor, before anyone says anything)

that guy from syria is definitely a fraud btw. who even starts a convo with "it's all that woman han seolah's fault" completely unprovoked? there was no indication that cha useok even knew han seolah so to say that with no intro is crazy. definitely a setup.

my theory (based on nothing at all) is that eunhyeok is in love with seolah and is killing all her bfs, and eunhye suspects that so she's overcompensating by hating seolah. i just feel like that much hatred for someone who for real saved your life isn't reasonable otherwise.

my other theory is that seolah actually is the killer and she's some sort of psychopath. i feel like all similar stories with person A suspecting person B end up with it being a misunderstanding and person B is an innocent victim, so if this went the other way, it would be more interesting as well.

but i also agree with the theory going around that paek jun beom is lee suho (1st bf) with plastic surgery getting revenge for seolah moving on or something 😭 it could literally be anyone

sure, but those worker bee males go home to abuse their wives and children. regardless of how bad a man has it, they will always have power over the women in their lives in that same situation (e.g. immigrant men have more power than immigrant women, male workers over female workers, moc over woc, male children over female children, etc).

if this is a reply to me, im not arguing that either sangah or yunseong was more coerced than the other. i'm arguing that neither female nor male victims are taken seriously, and in this show only one victim of either gender is portrayed, so we can't make a generalizing statement that female victims are portrayed more empathetically or that male victims are ignored until more victims are shown.

yes, sure, but in this case, you can't make a statement about it because there's been one victim of either gender. the female victim is a main character and at least 1/3 of the show is from her pov. her trauma is depicted because we see the show from *her* perspective. the male victim is a side character and is treated as such, being seen only from the ml and sangah's perspective. we don't know his story because he's a side character. if there are other victims and only female victims are given space to tell their story, you can make that statement then, but as of now, we have nothing supporting it.

also, again, this is set in korea. female victims' pain isn't acknowledged anywhere, least of all in KOREA. female victims being empathized with "more" neither reflects nor reinforces their reality, so i'm not sure what you meant by that statement.

?? isn't she a victim of his? she's very much shown to be traumatized bc of her experience w/ being trafficked, and she also tried to stop her labelmates from being trafficked as well

considering there's been exactly one victim of each gender, i don't think you can make this statement yet? and "Power structures do not discriminate in the way they exert control; they simply exploit vulnerability wherever it exists"?? gender is one of the main vulnerabilities in terms of risk of sex abuse??

it's not like female victims are taken seriously either, so it always makes me laugh when people start with the "normalizing sa against males" thing. they get exactly the same level of support, it's just that support happens to be zero for both. it's like you guys need male victims to be more validated than women or else you think males are especially discriminated against.

on episode 15 rn, and the aunt is so valid for not wanting to take care of a borderline corpse just because that's her husband's father. that's STILL a thing in asian cultures in 2026 and it's so stupid to expect women to prioritize and provide for their husbands' parents while separating them from their own family. this being set in medieval china, where she, as a wife, would have had zero rights, like tbh kill him!! idgaf. she's weird for terrorizing her niece, another woman, though.
