100% fantasy. Longyuan Continent is about as real as Tolkien's Middle Earth. Not even the names of the kingdoms…
Thanx for your reply, that's a good explanation. I asked as some comments refer to the series as historical, as well as checked and a Nanzhao has existed for example. But then I know it can be an issue of how names are converted into Latin letters spelling, so thank you.

It's a good drama, but it is so repetitive, an eternal cycle of one saving the other. I lost count how many times…

The battle, depth and magnitude of it, soldier armours and use of proper siege engines is historically accurate…
Thank you all for your answers - that's what I thought too.

I read comments of this being the best historical drama of 2024, but is there historical truth in the drama - I get some of the kingdoms mentioned have existed historically, but did they all exist and the kings/princes/princesses/wars between them? Or is mainly fantasy drama?

Hey, one association I made reading the comment below - is it only me that makes an association between this drama and the INDIANA_JONES series? On the mystery parts I was sort of taken back to Indiana Jones stories. And also the selection of actors - like intentionally they were searching for a strong ML actor and a beautiful Fl actress. I find the ML actor being so stronger actor than the actress that plays FL. But she is very very beautiful and that's either intentionally sought to bring a reminder to Indiana Jones or it is exactly the ML play in discovering mysteries that brings this association. The side characters are a different story lines here.

I like ML. FL is too stiff. Not flowing.I like CFY. She was hot and played her role well. ML and CFY have better…
Actually, I also find the ML actor being better actor than the actress that plays FL. But she is more .... beautiful. 😂 I do not know how they select actors but not everyone from viewers is paying attention to acting skills of actors.

Do you know when ep 40 is sheduled? I watched up to where the mother appeared and having read your comments looks like waste of time to continue watching. Not that it is not realistic to save someone and he/she to strike you back, but at least we can choose what to watch. A, and what is then the connection to the modern time the drama started from ep 1? Does someone know how the novel treats this, though I read that the drama deviates from novel too much.

dubbing has always been a thing with cdramas esp historical. from what i know, their filming sites have a lot…
Thanks for detailed info. I will keep your recommendations. As I had not watched Zhang Ling He before TPR, which is his best role out of the dramas you recommend? Also, is any of them a too heavy drama to avoid? I briefly looked at them - The Kunning Palace seems to have sort of similar plot to TPR - a character's life is re-started at 18 but looked more gloomy, wars.

@AngiBorahae @NianagNiang - Thanks so much for your recommendations.

I find Zhao Jin Mai does a very good job here. First saw her in "Snowstorm of love" - simply do not think this was her thing, and happy that I now started watching The Princess Royal -this actress portrays her characted well so far.

Hi, no - it starts in Finland and quite a lot of episodes are done in Finland so much so I had the feeling I do…
😂😂😂 And I was telling you to check the car plates. 😂😂😂 But this is crazy - why would they create such a suspense for the location? Is it considered something bad to film in Helsinki? I do not think so. Neither can it be a capital crime to divert from the original script in the book.

Оh, Thank you very much - so you live in Helsinki!!! Then it must have been quite a fun for you to watch. 😊😊😂😂😂. Please kindly observe if you meet two Chinese people on street what language do they speak to each other.

@JotPurplelris - I read the book the movie was based upon actually is taking place in the USA. But why did it necessitate to create those fictional cities I still cannot understand. Can someone tell me if the city in China the later episodes take place actually exists or is a fictional city, as well.

Yes, there was Hull, maybe you're right for the other "city" - I watched it back when airing and the show is as if a different city while travelling between different parts of the same city. I also cannot understand why they need to be so secretive on the location. See, many people are puzzled on this point. Later, when they took a flight to the fictional island, while filming in France, it became clear that it is done on purpose. As per foreigners people speaking English in-between, just because they are abroad, it is as well peculiar. And not realistic.

Yes, indeed - Finnish is the language of the majority in Finland, 85.7% of the population in 2022 speak Finnish. Why nobody spoke Finnish? And you can locate where they are by the cars registrations. I watched with English subs, and it was not mentioned Helsinki but something like Helsin. (Which may be how Helsinki is pronounced in Chinese, I do not know). Helsinki itself is a bilingual city with 76 % speaking Finnish and 6 % Swedish. English is quite common though in Helsinki.
