i hope they focus more on the characters in upcoming eps bc the constant violence and whatnot has me not at all invested in how things will turn out for the characters
this story hits especially close to home because i come from a family that practices both white and black magic and one thing everyone comes to realize is: there's always a price. it isn't as gorey as portrayed, though. one of my mother's aunt's who practices black magic has increased her wealth exponentially but loses a sister annually. after four sisters down, she has only one left. she's also brought misfortune on my family. nobody regards her actions as evil, just overzealous. but i'm sure in the upper echelons of society have actual human sacrifices in their rituals that they've probably been passed down for a millennium.
okay so let me get this straight: the only way to get rid of the evil spirit was to seal all 5 items with the right name AND get rid of the finger, and the only way for her to possess GSY fully was to find the 5 items. right?
otherwise, why would she not want anyone finding out the truth about her name, and why would she kill the detective for coming close to it, but keep haesang alive so as to find the items for her?
secondly, she can only kill those who pose a threat to her existence, correct? which is why she strikes a "deal" with the grandma instead of the more convenient option, which is just killing her off. what kind of bargain can someone like that be making from such a futile position? not much of a "deal" imo, as those who attempted to get rid of the evil spirit, with or without her erroneous instruction, would've failed and died anyway.
Trash. I don't understand South Korea's obsession with rich families and chaebol stuff. This could have been a…
you wonder why a country with one of the highest suicide rates in the world and a work culture that's regarded as basically-not-slavery, might make a show about those ills? there were very minimal references to any "chaebol" elements. rich people existed in this story because it was one that revolved around selling your soul and human sacrifice for the sake of wealth and power.
so good and gripping. still can't get the last scene from ep. 2 out of my head. horror rarely does anything for me but ive been unable to stop thinking about it since
why is this so good? second time in my entire life a romcom has made me laugh out loud consistently, and i've seen all of 'em. i'm actually invested in the characters, too, surprisingly.
Sorry but I disagree. I think it's a mistake to compare it with My Mister (I've commented already). It is slow…
yes i think it'd be better for me to come back when it's done, esp since it's a slower drama. maybe the time between eps is killing feelings of suspense and enjoyment for me.
is it just me or is something missing in this drama? idk when i was watching my mister i felt it was so meticulously and cleverly plotted — my anticipation for the big reveal had my stomach doing somersaults. but with this i don't even really care about it getting to that point or the revenge or literally any of the characters/their woes. like it's just....meh. maybe due to the weakness of the script and characterizations?
"They mess with your soul and with your being. They violate you. But they get older and weaker day by day. So don’t ever give up. You are eternally younger than those idiots."

2) why didn't the grandma reveal the truth about the finger when she realized her death was basically inevitable after her slip-up?
also how did ari betray shi hyun? i was expecting some kind of twist bc of what shi hyun said about it in the 1st episode but it never came
