are the subs ever good? 99% of the it's like they don't even try and just used a software to auto translate. And…
Maybe the demand isn't high enough for them to hire translators. They don't want to spend the money. Realistically, how many English audiences are there? And if they translate to English, what about other languages?
It's interesting how MDL audiences seem to generally like this drama, but on Douban, it's eviscerated. MDL ratings are usually more generous due to a variety of reasons. But I just find it curious that it's got one of the lowest scores on Douban (2.1/10) and is so well received on MDL.
The coach is extremely irritating to me, the fact he doesn't know anything about the sport just takes me out of…
And is totally in denial about it. And when a person shows up who actually knows about the sport he brushes her off and tells her not to interfere. Of course this leads his team to be humiliated in competition. You have to remember he is a real coach, albeit for a different sport. What made him think he can just fake his way into the nationals and stand any sort of chance. It also drags a bit for me. I don't think it needed to be a 24 episode show, even if the episodes are shorter.
Great series for me. Acting is top notch. I totally fell for the red herring. Half way through the series I'm like, you know I bet "he" is the bad guy and then the FL is going to get kidnapped by him and the ML will have to rescue her. And then that almost played out and I was so pleased with myself for being right. Only I was wrong.
Looks like this drama is holding up and won't 烂尾. I was worried about that after what happened to "Who is He" and "Homesick". 9.3 on douban now, can it go any higher? I really like Teresa Li. Damn she's good. She's much better suited to modern roles than costume dramas. I wonder if Little Reunion 2 is still getting made. I've been waiting ages for that.

Yea. With something like Empresses in the Palace, keeping the subs off isn't an option for me. They use so many big words and a lot of 成语 and the language is so nuanced and complicated.
are the subs ever good? 99% of the it's like they don't even try and just used a software to auto translate. And…
A language like Chinese is super hard for machines to translate. There are too many words and phrases where you can't just translate the individual word and expect the line to make sense. Even with decent subs, the full line is often not translated and they just go with something easy. The bad subs are very distracting. But sometimes I like to keep them on because my Chinese isn't fluent. Especially if I'm watching a costume drama, I can't make heads or tails of the 成语.
damn the story is so boring. the characters are boring too. and even though i know the language, the horrible…

Is this going to the direction of "Hell Hath No Fury Like A Woman Scorned"? Ruo Nan and Dong Tian really belong…
You took the words right out of my mouth. I came to make that same comment. I never really liked Rou Nan's character. From the beginning she seemed immature, wilful and pouty. The state of her now, Rou Nan and Dong Tian really are a match made in heaven...or hell.
Um yes and no. No cheating in the show itself. The couple is already broken up at the start of the show. I think…
They make up and remarry. But it's quite realistic and it's not out of the blue and it's quite heartwarming. You can tell that after all these years, they still care about each other. After all these years, he hasn't let go. Although she acts like she doesn't want to have anything to him, after overhearing something, she realizes that she still loves him. And I can't emphasize enough how it's actually quite realistic how they get back together.
Can someone spoil me please.....is there any cheating in that one? I know, that one couple actually breaks up,…
Um yes and no. No cheating in the show itself. The couple is already broken up at the start of the show. I think it was because the guy was drunk....classic right. I don't quite remember. But I don't think they slept together. It's not a major plot point and should def not scare you away from the show. If you want to be really spoiled, see next comment.
EXACTLY!This show is a joke. It started strong and went downhill. It's understandable during their training, and…
Yea. I find that reality of military is not portrayed that well in a lot of dramas, Chinese dramas at least because I haven't really seen Korean military dramas. Especially women. They're often portrayed as very girly and sulky.
I don't think they're trying to send any message. I can't imagine anyone thought turning a more or less normal teenager into almost a rapist then have him massacre all his classmates was a good storytelling.
Then have citizens protest giving these kids extra credits. Fine don't give them credits, but at least give them enough money so that they can spend the next decade of their lives trying to recover from PTSD. And if they want to go to school, they can, but they still have the money to fall back on.
The producers/screenwriter/director/studio, whoever it was that finalized this script played it like a joke. They didn't know how to end it so they just went for the shock factor. It probably drummed up more discussion then a normal ending would have.
oh and and one more more thing. Remember how the girls just went to train in their skirts. Then kept those skirts on for the longest time? Saving the world from an alien invasion = important Conforming to the school dress code = more important.
O my God! Its just a disaster! Such a bad display over all. I absolutely dont like the ending at all. And sorry…
and the best part is, they don't even get the extra points. And the protest HAHAHA. It's so absurd. I want to know who came up with this script, and who approved it, and what's wrong with them.
wait ....what? WTF happened in the last episode? Is it April Fool's? You know what they should have done? Have a dog. Then have the dog survive, so not as many people would complain about the ending. Or they would complain, but at least the dog lives.
They tried way too hard to copy All of Us are Dead.
[Still need to watch last episode]I still find it unbelievable that they would still be thinking of the CSAT's…
In that moment I think worrying about the CSAT's is just a way of him wanting things to back to the way things were. He's just scared and wants to go back to his life, and pretend nothing has happened. The CSAT's represents normality. I'm probably overthinking this.
But also, at the end, they still have to go back to school and do the CSAT's, Despite the horror and trauma they've gone through, they probably won't even get the extra points. If you know anything about Korean culture, you know that the CSAT's....well it's nothing you can even imagine. College entrance exams in Korea/China/Japan are f*cking brutal. I grew up in China, but I immigrated before having to take my college exams. Thank God for that, I'd probably lose my mind. The pressure and stress put on these kids, imo, would probably constitute as child abuse in the West.
I would say the spark is there, but it's hard to form and maintain a relationship when you're a spy. There are actually a couple of romantic plot points.
You know I do like this drama. But I can't get over one plot hole. Why don't the Japanese ever speak Japanese? Even in private conversations with their own people? I know I know, it's for the sake of filming. But surely, Chen Qian's Japanese is not so good that he can fool a den of very intelligent and academic Japanese military officials, who are looking for a mole.
His character is quite morally grey - he’s not exactly on the side of the protagonists but he’s very caring…
idk about morally grey. He comes off as condescending, narrow-minded narcissist. He's cruel, impulsive and not as intelligent as he thinks he is. He's a snake, prancing around like he's a stallion. He abuses his power, manipulates people and he has it out of the main lead. Every action and decision he makes is based on how it will benefit himself. He's a liability more than anything else. If he were ever to be captured by the enemy, all of China is doomed. What you see in the first few episodes is exactly who he is, but he gets worse.
Episode 32 trailer has me clenching my first. But who knows, maybe they'll do a big twist and he'll get his good guy moment and then die.
In case you aren't aware, Avenue X is a very obnoxious and biased YouTuber who thinks her mere opinions constitute…
I've only really watched her review or upcoming drama videos so idk about all the industry scandals. As for only her reviews videos, I just think she expresses her opinions and posts videos. Nothing wrong with that. Aren't all reviewers just posting their own opinions? Just because she criticizes, talks at length and sometimes rants about dramas doesn't make her content bad nor does it mean she does it only for clout or views. Everyone's got opinions and everybody is bias. She's not some professional reporter anyway. She's just a youtuber.
But aside from that, it's a fun show.
