Chinese movie land is a guessing game. There’s so much mystery and speculation around this movie. This movie kept on trending on weibo for whether it’s been filmed or not. Yes, someone with inside knowledge has said that the film has wrapped but there is still no official announcement. I’m still waiting for at least a poster.

I know that for dramas they often release booting ceremony promotional photos. I guess that’s not the case for movies? it’s rare to get a 60 episode Chinese drama now. Apparently the censorship gods don’t want dramas to be too long. Some shows are even divided into Part 1 and Part 2 even though it’s actually just 1 part. I’m old enough to remember not having the internet. When fun meant playing in the creek, fishing with old coke bottles, catching butterflies and frogs and going just far enough from home where you can still hear the adults shout for you to come and eat.
I’m a late bloomer. I was not into idols or celebrities as a teen or young adult. The only thing I was crazy about was Harry Potter. But now in my mid 30s. I seem to be getting into that fan phase for certain idols. But I do keep a steady head. There’s a saying in Chinese, to pursue idols with reason/logic. Basically, don’t go crazy for them.
You know, sometimes I think I have a love-hate relationship with the Chinese drama land. Like with movie release dates. I’m used to Hollywood where release dates are announced months ahead of time. With China you never know. But even though we don’t get release dates months ahead, it’s always nice to be surprised then the dates do drop out of nowhere.
I heard that it will air this summer but after the Olympics. I hope it comes out soon and hopefully a Western release too

I saw a character rating for Joy of Life 1. All the characters, every single one was at least an 8. But his character was rated like 2.5 or something. It makes me so angry that Xiao Zhan had to go through all of that online abuse and cyber bullying. Forget it. He’s moved on. I’m just eager to see his future projects.
