No he wasn’t smart at all! His friend knew that if GJS showed up it would only be to his death. Everyone knew that it was a trap for GJS and GJS fell right into it.

Jiusi wants to send his friend off and be there for him in his last moment. It was a touching gesture. But the man is about to die! He’s about to die because of you! His whole family was almost executed because of your friendship. Is the send off for him or for yourself? He put both his and Yuru’s life in danger. What Jiusi wanted to do was understandable, but it was not smart and Yuru should have stopped him. And told him that it was a stupid thing to do. If they were caught, the friend would have died for nothing. If it wasn’t for their merchant friend, both of them would be dead. His irresponsible decision led directly led to the merchant's death.

His friend is not very smart either. Knowing that this is a trap and knowing that they are surrounded by enemies, couldn’t he have put on a better poker face? When he saw the red handkerchief his face changed so dramatically LZS saw right away. Like seriously dude! you just have GJS away you donkey.

it’s not that GJS is stupid, it’s that the writers care more about a making scene than logic. It was a nice speech though….😂.

it’s a bitter end for such decent man. His later years are filled with such conflict and tribulations. The weight of the kingdom on his shoulders, he tries to outplay his enemies and keep his friends safe and close. But he has to make decisions that breaks his spirit. Even his closest friend and confidante has chosen to distance himself from the emperor. His son turned out to be just like the previous crown prince, heartless, narcissistic and narrow minded. It’s really tragic.

Fan Xuan is a good person. He had a good heart. He means well. But he is not emperor material. He just want to be himself. It’s too bad his son didn’t inherit some of his kindness

@QASSAQ the crown prince would be a puppet like he has been for most of his short adult life. He is vindictive and cruel, has the foresight of a trout and the intellect of a walnut. They say that walnuts are good for the brain but obviously his is the size of one.

it makes me wonder just how much power and influence the dowager has. She’s been playing palace politics all of her life.

the script needs work…. but the acting is top notch

ratings are MDL are generally higher anyway. I do understand why it’s so low on douban. People have commented that the script does not make a lick of sense in many places. Characters making stupid decisions and doing impossible things. And it’s departure from the novel is making people upset.

so in the trailer it’s mentioned that there’s someone helping Jiusi by donating money and manpower. I’m hoping that jiusi secretly knew that the rich merchant Yuru. or heard rumours about this lady merchant and figured that there’s only one woman in the world that could that.

i haven’t seen the last 4 episodes., I’m waiting until this princess business is over. or at least built the GJS and LYR reunite

Yuru’s fake death make me lose hope that father Gu will come back. Because then that would make one too many characters that ‘dies’ and then come back. But I really want him to be alive and see how amazing his son turned out to be.

or “New Life Begins” another costume drama starring him. Also excellent. And “Reset”, one of the best dramas in 2022 imo.

I don’t like medical/work place dramas that much so I didn’t watch You Are My Hero

it’s a slow burn. You slowly see them caring for each other more and more. It does come off pretty obvious that they love each other. The love is there but neither really says it. I think it’s worth the wait.
