It's not a Chinese military movie without propaganda. I've been on Chinese social media and you're right, most people seem to think that the blackface is super funny. It's not just blackface, people will openly mock and bully actors/actresses who they think are ugly or not handsome/pretty enough for their roles. In movie/drama reviews, people will point out if any of the main cast are ugly and rant about it. We're still a couple of decades behind in that area.

you think MDL is harsh? it’s one of the most lenient rating sites out there. Take douban for example. it’s rated like a 5.2 or something on there.

really want to watch it but after hearing that it got hit by China’s hammer of homophobia I just can’t bring myself to do it. it’ll only end in disappointment. I wish they could have at least released 20 episodes or something. Or you know, let it all lose all at once so that the we at least have a chance of downloading the whole thing before it gets pulled

there’s a few come to the future dramas. I only remember one of them. It’s a very small production and not a regular drama. The show is made up of 80 shorts. Each short of approx 1-3 min. So the entire thing is less than 2 hours. It is filmed vertically like a tiktok. You can look it up on YouTube 哎呀！ 皇后娘娘来打工。 idk how good the subs are though. It might not be to your taste but I like it. There are many similar shows in this style. It’s a whole genre. Sometimes the acting can be uh…and the script more uhhh. Once you’ve seen 2-3, you’ve pretty much seen them all. This one is one of the best though, imo.
