Bittersweet.
FL ends up becoming the barrier for her village (basically she has to stay there for years, suffering), she makes ML leave and believes he'll lose all memory of her. But he doesn't lose his memory and many years later when he's very old, she finally is able to leave and goes to the town and the last scene is them smiling at each other. So it's a mix of happy and sad in that they're reunited and remember each other, but FL is still the same age she was and ML is very old, so they didn't get to spend their lives together and he probably only has a short time left to live.
