I'm guessing you're young... Your feelings feel like they fall in line with people who care more about how the performer looks rather than their ability to act the role. Perhaps I am wrong, but call him 'grandpa' is much. He's middle aged. Older men can be attractive, viable, romantic, sexy, and many other things. I personally care more about if an actor is doing their job well and I feel moved by their performance.

That marriage proposal by ChanYuQing with the Beimo army backing him was everything to change my mind about how bad this story was. With that one scene I choose to believe it was an ending where Mai rode into the sunset to meet the only true romantic candidate as per his proposal. I also choose to ignore the ML and his antics and the ridiculous palace intrigues that were not necessary. In that way I can enjoy the rest of the drama and upped my rating by .5 to an 8.
