I don't know if it's the writing or the directing/editing choices, but this drama isn't flowing like it should. I still have to finish the 2nd episode, but so much already happened and even if I barely know these people, they keep introducing new characters. The change between scenes are weird af and the whole thing feels disconnected; the wuxia fights are barely okay + the color grading is,,, plain to say the least.
Honestly the only thing I'm enjoying for now is the acting of the two main leads, which is sad bc the premise was kinda interesting. If the editing doesn't get better, I don't know how much I'll be able to stuck around even if Zhou Yiran's acting (and the fl's too) is pretty commendable.
At first I wondered why people don’t like Japanese series, while I enjoy watching them. The international audience always has criticism and complaints. Then I remembered what I already know: it’s better that they don’t watch them, so they won’t be forced into the boring Western narrative, and they’ll always remain as they are.

cp so good they had to move them from vertical to horizontal screen, iktr! but bby, i checked out the first three eps and imma let y'all go on ahead and finish it first, then tell us how it was before i proceed
Dylan Wang is a very good actor. He has this captivating look when he shifts from looking normal to being fierce…( the eyes 👁️ shift )☺️.Looking forward to this drama
This drama is so very underrated and Im happily surprised to see this post! Thank you for bringing attention this drama. I did a rewatch 5 or so month ago and wrote long comment under the drama page so I wont copy paste here at the moment. Writing, acting, filming sets and edits were actually so much better than some 'famous' dramas out there...
