so this is my take on why last scene feels disjointed

Director explicitly made the choice of BJ noticing how much guilt LJ was feeling regarding Jamie, and causing father son fight. While coming back home, BJ noticed LJ was crying. Just extremely sad and shattered.

I think BJ was really really worried in that moment that LJ would resign and leave.


Give, BJ has been established as a genius, adept at reading people... I THINK, BJ DECIDED to cut some slack.... and in order to make LJ happy... fast tracked reconciliation

Notice, he doesn't hug back LJ when LJ hugs him thanking him for remembering everything.

This NC feels disjointed only from BJ perspective and not at all from LJ's perspective.

BJ is actually not there to explain and have an emotional release. He planned the night to make sure he can distract LJ and get him to feel less guilt and less sad.

Now, from the lens the last scene fits and makes you wonder if director is actually this intelligent or are we making up stuff. Ideally, ep 9 opening should give us a few more moments from this scene.

given how 1st two NCs were b'fully crafted to convey exact emotions. i think this scene was also crafted on purpose to make audience feel weird/awkward about it

and 6th episode had slow sad instrumental of colorblind playing.. fitted the scene so well..

Ep 2- you felt with LJ that it was his 1st time. Same restlessness, nervousness and first time excitment

Ep 6 - you absolutely feel the sadness, break up, desire.. the NC was so meaningful


Ep 8 - is supposed to give the emotional catharsis and bring that yearning to its peak and then release... BUT ALAS
