nope. in 2nd tribulation, he liked her and as far as he knew she was being forced into a marriage with the general. *in heaven we saw how he remembers her death and vows to protect her as she is nearing her return. In 3rd tribulation, we saw him prioritizing FL.. be with the man she loves.. but SML"s priority was that she doesn't sacrifice herself.. and he finally told ML about the primordial spirit.. he was not scheming in 3rd tribulation but had one clear motive. Even in this one, you can see he always has the right intention towards her and the respect and love origins from how she treats him...
in any case, he will never prioritize himself or his feelings.. for him FL is most important...his unwavering belief in her unlike anyone even though she "apparently" killed his entire clan..

2nd ML arc is done.. he started off as somoene who wanted to protect FL and was in love and was still trying to win her, but in last lifetime he realized that she loves ML and always will (don't forget he recognized FL to be CH).. so his growth was shown on how he remains loyal to her, protected her, told ML about how her sacrificing herself impacts her primordial spirit,.. and basically showed that SML is willing to do anything (including giving up on her) if it means she can be happy and be protected
Now the narrative has moved onto the actual bad guy of the series
